posted a message on A new way to make glass: lightning.
    Quote from jeffw

Oh really? Explain the caves, trees, the moon cycle, and physics. You need to stop being a hypocrite.

    A. You obviously don't know what a hypocrite is.
    B. Most games are at least somewhat grounded in reality so we have a basic understanding of whats going on. That doesn't make the game realistic. Minecraft is not realistic. Zombies and skeletons are unrealistic. Punching trees to get wood is unrealistic. Removing a block of wood from a tree and not having it fall is not realistic. Trying to force realism on an unrealistic game is stupid. In that case let's remove diamond weapons and armor, zombies, skeletons, the nether, ghasts, blazes, slimes, pigmen, magma cubes, the end, enderman, the enderdragon, redstone, villagers, and squids with teeth. Realism is not a good argument for the addition or removal of material to an unrealistic game.

Do you realize that lightning is very rare? Even if it did strike sand, there would be very very few glass found in sand.

So, what you're essentially saying is this suggestion is even more pointless than it was before? So now, its not only unnecessary, it's useless. Great. So you are saying that is merely for aesthetics? In that case, I personally think weird one block deposits of glass dotting deserts and beaches would be hideous.

    Quote from jeffw

    That's not the point.

    Then what is the point?

    Quote from jeffw

Nobody ever said it would be a 1m3 glass block.

Notch has confirmed that the blocks in Minecraft are 1m3.

    Quote from jeffw

So what? The clouds are useless, and so is the rain. Hmm, why don't we remove EVERYTHING pointless from the game? Then let's see how MC will be.

Those add aesthetics and atmosphere. This add ugly scarring of the landscape for absolutely no reason.

    posted a message on Deterioration
Alright, could be pretty cool. How about if a chunk is unloaded for too long or if the player is too far away this starts to happen? That would solve the annoyance aspect for the most part. Your massive build would never degrade when you're living in it, but that starting hut you made or the house you abandoned would be full of cobwebs and moss after a while. Or the mining stations that you aren't using anymore. It could be cooler on Multiplayer, when after exploring for a while you find the deteriorated remains of an abandoned players house.

posted a message on Industrial minecraft vs. Enchanting
If anything, Minecraft shouldn't go in the direction of Industrial Craft. Electricity, nuclear reactors, nano swords, and mining lasers don't fit the game in my opinion. It should go towards the Better than Wolves direction, automation that fits into the style of Minecraft, and also blends the magic and industry sides of Minecraft.

    posted a message on Let's create Weapons/Tools
I think this kind of idea should only be added if they were to improve the combat. I would love for this to be implemented, but in the end they would just be alternate shapes for hitting or shooting mobs with. When the only factor you have to change is damage and right click ability, any new weapon would just be a fancy sword. Ranged weapons have more flexibility, as damage, range and drawback/reload time are all available for manipulation. Anyway, for new melee weapons and more varied range weapons, some essential changes would need to be made.

Now to those who say that Minecraft doesn't need new weapons or new combat, you are right. It doesn't need them, but I gotta say with all the emphasis on exploration and new bosses and more difficult undead it could really use them. As of now, I gotta say skill has nothing to do with it, so really adding armored zombies just changes how many times you need to click them. With all the flexibility in Minecrafts other attributes, it could really use some more interesting combat.

posted a message on Super-Large Idea: Movement Improvement
While I'm sure many people will get their panties in a bunch over it "ruining the charm," I agree. Maybe even add joints. The closer we are to looking like those kick ass Blender animations, the better.

posted a message on ~!{ New Block (for tools) In the Nether }!~
    Quote from Conker
    1. Quote - "but it just does not suit the purpose of the Nether" Says who? Who has said the purpose of the Nether? MC is a game where you can do just about anything, and living there is possible even if some refer to it as a hell. Plants still grow, I eat bacon, grow mushrooms and a lot of other stuff and live on. Its purpose just isn't for fast travel or collecting glowstone or raiding a fortress...its a lot more then that now, its for whatever you want it to be. Its for anything you make it ^^ (least how I view it) If they didnt want you to live there then plants wouldnt grow, and probably you die of lack of air or something random after time like water idk :s They would have made some huge sign "you cant live here" But I never seen such a thing

They don't need to have a sign. It's implied by the fact that its hell. And yes, you've made it work. And that's cool, I respect that. The only thing is that you have wood and gold tools, so theres no point in adding another tool thats easier to get. No one said it was going to be easy and leaving in the Nether has the drawback of sucky tools.

posted a message on Please Improved Breeding and Farming System (pictures)
I don't like selectively improving seeds, because it seems a little out of place, but breeding the animals is a cool idea. Maybe you could have more features then just health and damage or drops. For example, speed, strength, health, and maybe something else like aggressiveness for wolves. And pups would be born with different attributes. That way you could have very fast dogs, but that lack the strength of their slower, tougher counterparts. Different purpose wolves. And you would strive towards making the best breed. As for farm animals, I'm not sure. More drops is all I can think of.

    Quote from Panman33

Yes, hello, what's up, and hi.

No... they are random computer generated sounds. I don't know what you are talking about. I think you are trying to help him get over his fear, but lying about where the sounds come from is a strange attempt at doing it...

    Quote from Useraro

Thanks for the help also "Prince Deity", but the slippery slope is mostly a fallacy; and if you declare an exception you're free from slippery slopes (if the exception is good enough).

    Goodbay.

Please stop using words that you only barely know. It makes your posts difficult to understand. First of all, to adress this post. I think you are trying to say is that you won't have to make all mobs toggleable if there is one mob that stands out as a hated and feared mob. The thing is, enderman aren't an exceptionally hated or feared mob. More people fear creepers and ghasts. So to add an option to this very small minority would be a waste of Mojang's time.

Second, the charts are not a metaphor.

    met·a·phor
       [met-uh-fawr, -fer] Show IPA
    noun
    1. a figure of speech in which a term or phrase is applied to something to which it is not literally applicable in order to suggest a resemblance, as in “A mighty fortress is our God.” Compare mixed metaphor, simile ( def. 1 ) .
    2. something used, or regarded as being used, to represent something else; emblem; symbol.

What you did is try to add interest to the post by stating that the majority of players fear enderman and as such they should be toggled off. That is an outright lie, or a falsification of data.

The solution I suggest for you is to get a mod. I know that Mo' Creatures allows for choosing which mobs you want to spawn. If you want to play it like it's vanilla without enderman, then download it, disable all the mobs it adds, and disable endermen as well.
