This is probably the best world I've had in my entire year of playing Minecraft. The 1.8 world gen is awesome!
The spawn will probably be in a dense forest, but near it are some mountains. Just head in that direction, you can't miss it!

After playing Minecraft for about a year now, I've begun to realize that as we are exposed to sources of media involving Minecraft (ex. Youtube) and as we actually play the game, players (I don't know if I speak for myslef here) sort of go into a rut. They start building things the same way with the same style of building and the same furnishings. I think this is largely due to the fact that people see what popular Youtubers (or other sources of media) create, and they start to take their judgement into account and mimic those users.
Every so often, and for some it might be hard, you have to step out of your comfort zone, look away from the media and 'how you should build something', and build it your own way. Because Minecraft is a sandbox. Define your world how you like, not how others like. You will enjoy it much more.

Griefed tonight. Check his post history he jumps into a lot of white list servers. Different age from 14-18 each time. Differnet location each time from Colorado, Nebraska, Minnesota (profile). Since he just griefed a server I was on. He made a very bad mistake. Now posting in all his recent threads. He'll be added to McBan list as soon as I can get to it.

The Mission
I just launched a brand new server, and am hoping the MCF community can help! I am looking for people to help build up the world from the ground up - build up spawn, infrastructure, etc. I even need help picking a name!

I will give anyone willing to help full control over plugins to help make this server rock! If you want to stick around for the long haul, I will be more than happy to had out [Moderator] permissions. You have the opportunity to make this server your own!

Also, if you guys have any suggestions for plugins not already installed, I will get those set up for you right away.

My only request from players is that you are mature and civil with other players. I will get the vent server up and running shortly so that we can discuss!

Just started a new server, and it's not very active yet. So come on and help us get started. We're building everything legit, no item spawning or anything.

Chests will auto-lock. Lots of room to explore and grow. PvP is off but mobs are on, so be sure to build shelter. Griefing is not allowed, and we can rollback most damage, but obviously you should build away from the spawn to protect yourself.

This is a pretty small server - max 12 players. Just to have fun. ^.^ Hope you'll stay a awhile.

Fantastic attitude! Now why don't you provide some more useful information like your computer's specs, operating system, video card, and the settings you're presently running Minecraft at. Additionally why don't you use a program like HijackThis to take a screenshot of all the processes and applications you have running while you're playing Minecraft to see if it's even actually the game being a resource hog?

Yes, but here's the thing:

There are many types of servers. 'Griefing' might very well be a reasonable thing to expect when interacting with anonymous, random people on the internet. The fact that griefing is likely does not make it acceptable. If you go to a server geared towards building impressive structures, starting a town, and having a pleasant time with your friends, the last thing you're going to want is some douchebag rampantly destroying the things you've worked on.

The thing is, not all servers are, as you said, 'prison yards'. Many servers are not centered around survival, but around creation. The owner of a server will define the rules of their server, and if destroying other people's creations is against those rules, then you should either find another server or not destroy other people's creations.

Most griefers do not grief simply because they enjoy destroying things. They are looking for a reaction, and that means they don't just destroy things. They break every rule they can find on the server, to try and incite as much rage as possible. Griefers are nothing more than people who enjoy ruining other people's fun, and no matter how likely it is that people like this exist, that does not make it ok.
