So, I have a rather interesting problem that I can't seem to find anyone else having / had...
For the past three or so years, I've been playing on minecraft servers via wifi. I've never had connection problems and it's always been fast and reliable. However, starting about a week ago whenever I connected to the server I play on I'd time out within a minute or so. I could move, and anything I said could be seen by those on the server but not by myself. I could break and place blocks but nothing would drop, etc. I eventually became fed up with this problem and took my laptop upstairs and connected it to wired internet, and the problem ceased to exist. I don't understand why it would only occur over wifi, especially when I've never had a problem with my wifi before.
I know it's not a firewall problem, yes I've re-installed minecraft, and all speed test results come back standard for my connection. Also, no other game nor the internet itself is affected by whatever is causing problems.
I have AT&T Uverse internet and here's my speed test result if it could be of use for whatever reason: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3651868480 I also pinged the city in where the server is hosted and besides my ping being higher (78ms), everything was normal.
Any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated.

If I run a command or say something, other people on the server can see it but I am unable to see it myself. After a minute, sometimes less, I lag out of the server with this message:
Internal exception: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out
I have tried everything I can think of to fix this problem. I'm running the latest version of 64bit java, I have 2 gigs of ram allocated to minecraft, Java and Minecraft are both allowed through my firewall, I've refreshed my computer, and I've reinstalled and uninstalled Minecraft multiple times.
I'm running entirely un-modified minecraft.
I'm running Windows 8 64 bit on AT&T Wireless internet.
Here are my speed test results:
I understand that I don't have very good internet at all, but it has never been a problem for me in the past and only recently started happening.
As you can see, on hops 1 and 2 I have severe packet loss. I also often have moderate packet loss on the second to last hop, and on the 8th occasionally.
I've talked to just about everyone I know who is good with networking stuff, and they have not been able to solve the problem either.
If there is anyone out there who could help me, I would be much obliged.

Hey guys, Blocktd here, and I'd thought I'd open up a custom skinning thread. I've been doing skins for quite a while now, and I thought it might be time to go public with the making of them.
I'm taking requests for any skin you can imagine, I'll do my best to get inspired and get it done as soon as possible, however it is on a first come first server bases. So if you request a skin right after 10 other people, they are going to get their skins before you do.

How to save and upload your new skin:
#1: Make sure you have something better than paint(ie; Paint.net, Photoshop, Gimp2, etc.)
#2: Your skin will be pmed to you via the forums, simply open the message, right click on the picture, and click copy.
#3: Open up your photo editing software, and click paste. Save it to your desired location, and close the program.
#4: Go to http://www.minecraft.net, go to your profile, and click "choose file" under the section about skins.
#5: Find your skin in the location you saved it to, and click ok/open(whatever it may say for you).
#6: You're done! Start up Minecraft and have fun!

Admin Abbie greafed my town she is the only one who has full perms to my town luckly I was smart enough to have ultimate protection to my tower which has all of my stuff she distroyed my justice building tore up the flooring in my prison and stole from my citizens I have done my best to return what was lost but she was baned for this before and I am reporting this to hopfully get the same result

This is my first post to this forum, so I hope that I'm putting this post under the correct topic. I've only recently begun playing Minecraft (2 months ago), so I'm still fairly new to the game. Previously, I'd built one successful tree farm based upon a model I'd read about in the wiki. However, I just saw a video on how to create an automatic tree farm. The original design was 9x9 w/ a ring of trees suspended above a pool of water. The water, w/ one bucket each added to each corner of the pool, would converge in the center of the pool. Thus, anything that falls into the water is then sent through a hole in the center of the pool, and an underground flow carries the items to a collection point.
I had the bright idea of expanding this design to 27x27 w/out giving consideration to how I would get the water to flow toward the center of the pool. My question is, is it possible to do what I'd like to do? I'm playing offline on v1.1, if that makes a difference. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Water can only flow up to eight blocks if I am correct, therefor doing it normally would be impossible. Every seven blocks it may be wise to lower the level of the canal by one, allowing the water flow to be reset until it converges into the very center.
Oh and please, hurry because Im starting to re-think joining colonies was a bad idea.

While the Gullibility of "Big" played a big part in what happened, I say you still deserve to be demoted for tricking an admin into giving you permission for a town of which you had no right to, and no reason to, but for the simple reason of griefing and looting. Most guardians wouldn't do something like that, and it makes you look like a complete asshole.
had a few Chunkster errors earlier, messed up some land. rare, but if someones land actually got messed up in one of those errors they will have lost all things in their chests. if this happened to u contact an admin and we will generously help you :smile.gif:

I find it annoying that StevenT and Prophecylike have been going at it with allrun for over an hour now, It is causing a serious disturbance on the server. It seems like this happens every night because StevenT can't keep his mouth shut, and intentionally find's ways to call me and allrun out on just about everything. We say one thing and it's "Wow lol, Blocktd such a *****" or "Allrun, you're such a faggot." Constantly. He does this on purpose in hopes of stirring up a fight that will end up with me, allrun, or both of us getting muted. It also gives a bad impression to new players when others are constantly fighting and cussing at the top of their lungs, of which I am sometimes guilty. It's going to drive away new players if StevenT and others are continuously allowed to call others out and start fights for the hell of it. It is an unnecessary amount of trolling that I find intolerable.

They would have to have spawn permissions for tmi. They bought lava blocks, which can be placed, from the mall.
