..I officially want to extend an invitation to have this resource pack become a community project. It has already passed through the hands of so many authors, it is deserving of any contribution that anyone is willing to make..
..I do want this pack to be able to branch out beyond just vanilla and to be usable with many mods as well, I feel it's worthy of such. This was what I wanted to do as well, if I ever revived it. I did start to; I converted the latest texture pack to the latest version (Pre-1.8. Don't know when), but lost motivation, and had no creative sense to figure out what blocks should be changed to what textures. So I gave up and let it sit there. Hoping someone else would do what I was (and am) too lazy to do.
Glad to see someone else of the same mindset, yet better work ethic, take the reigns.
EDIT: Found a nice seed. Change version to 1.5.2 (Full) and use the seed 746720048
I switched to creative and planted a single Oak Sapling, used Bonemeal to grow it, then went back to survival, and am about to convert it to 1.6.4 so I can use these textures. :3

I've wanted to revamp this, but I don't have the attention span. e.e I may get around to it now that they added underwater ruins, but I've always thought that I'd get around to it 'soon', and I never do.

Also, I assume this doesn't work with the better player models mod, the ones with the moving eyes, joints, etc. However, some time in the far, FAR future, do you foresee a possible compatibility? ("far, FAR" meaning roughly about Minecraft 2.3, whereas here we're waiting for Minecraft 1.7.) Oddly enough, even though I'm asking this question, I would honestly think it would not be worth the trouble. xD
Can anybody explain to me the origins and who is the original creator of these textures? I've literally found 3 different packs now, and they all seem pretty much the same, but this one is most up to date. Just wondering where I should be looking for the most recent news and updates on this pack!
The very original, the one I first downloaded. I've downloaded every other's since. Except this one, sorry OP. Have you changed anything from DarkDemonWolf's version? I manually updated his to 1.6.2 (MCPatcher style, watchaa!), but if you've added new blocks, I'd be glad to download.
This texture pack looks amazing! This right here made me go out and get the full version of the game.
However I apparently have no skill in installing this pack. I downloaded and ran MCPatcher, hit the patch button, opened minecraft and place the texture .zip (tryed multiple verions) and still am unable to get one to appear on the pack list in game.
Is this do to the texture pack not being up to date with the latest ver of minecraft?
Yes, my good sir, that is exactly it. You have to be running the 1.4.5 version of Minecraft in order for this texturepack to work. If you so wish, you could make it compatible with 1.6.2 by yourself, as I would had I any resourcepack savvy, but alas, I struggle with the basic resourcepack stuff. Texturepacks were much simpler.

think about it. if you want to continue being able to even PLAY minecraft, you need to support the makers. with your little program, you're not supporting the makers, but pretty much the opposite. what you just made is a program that will maybe ultimately lead to the doom of minecraft, and you won't be able to play it anymore because of this.
