I ran across one once, sticking out from a cave next to an abandoned mineshaft if I remember correctly.

One issue with pushing mobs through portals that may be unlikely to occur in normal situations but might be worth knowing about is that one should always use a nether portal oneself at least once before trying to push mobs through.

In at least some versions of Minecraft a mob can't go through a portal if there isn't a portal at the other end (the exit portal isn't created until a player uses the portal).

And there is (or was at least) a bug that kept a mob that had failed to go through a portal because the exit portal didn't yet exist from ever going through a portal.

Up to 23 X 23 blocks (frame size).

The Wiki page does have a picture of a 23 X 23 portal, way down at the bottom.

It doesn't seem at all normal to me.

Are you close to the entrance?

The shouldn't have been able to spawn down there, they are supposed to only spawn on grass or leaves and only above sea level.

I expect you scared them on the surface and they ran down into the mine and kept running away from you.

You don't have to do a new install, all you have to do is logout in the launcher and login again using the new account.

Though I would try to migrate the account first.

posted a message on 19w42a Sneaking while opening Chests

I'm not sure if this is (part of) what you are talking about but the difference I'm seeing is that in 19w42a with toggled sneak you can open a chest without standing up, in earlier versions and in 19w42a if you sneak by holding left shift you stand up when you open the chest.

posted a message on 19w42a Sneaking while opening Chests

Since I don't know how to toggle sneak I don't know if this is relevant but for normal sneaking I get the same behaviour in 19w42a as in 1.14.4,

I can open chests if both hands are empty but not if I'm holding anything.

This goes for both sneaking on the ground and pressing shift + space while flying.

And, now that I know how, with sneak toggled.

That's because right clicking while crouching tries to use an item you're holding, if any, disabling the inventory of the block you are targeting so you can place hoppers, torches etc.

    --

Since pressing shift toggles crouching/sneaking, when you have toggle enabled, you could well be opening the chest before/after/between crouching.

Either that or you probably weren't holding anything.

    --

Holding shift with toggle enabled makes me bounce up and down so I'm not at all sure how you could be opening the chest while remaining crouched?

    How do you toggle sneak?

Ok, I found the setting in options.

I think you're thinking of sunflowers.

I see I missed that dandelions can be used for breeding rabbits.

What are dandelions good for? (I can't see anything in the Wiki that suggests they are special.)

I don't see any point to an area effect with a range of 1 or 2 blocks, if they have to be that close you might as well just use fences.

Interesting. I am playing in 1.15 snapshots. Maybe I am mistaking something? My rabbit farm is pretty crowded.

    I couldn't say.

I'm getting the same results in 19w42a as in 1.14.4, random babies with no bias towards desert or against black.

posted a message on Quick crash course into Minecraft play pathways, versions & direction of play

    Hi,

    Wellcome!

The Xbox One version and the Win-10 edition are both the Bedrock version of Minecraft so if you want to be compatible with the Xbox One you need to stick with the Win-10 edition.

But Java is better for mods and resource packs, as far as I know the only way to change the Bedrock game is getting stuff from the Marketplace but you should ask about that in the Bedrock section of the forums

    https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft

also to get a different viewpoint on the merits of Bedrock vs Java, like, perhaps, most people here in the Java section, I'm biased towards the Java version, though my main reason for preferring Java is that I like the way the controls work better.

    Have you found the Wiki?

Third button on the green menu bar at the top of the page.

It is a great source of information, though it can be hard to find things if you don't know what to look for (or sometimes that a thing even exists.)

What version are you playing in?

My second attempt at breeding a black bunny with a brown one resulted in a black baby rabbit.

    in 1.14.4

The Wiki claims that there is a 47.5% chance for the type to match each parent and a 5% chance that the baby's type will match the biome you're in.

    --

I had the same result with desert bunnies, the second breeding between a desert bunny and a brown/salt-n-pepper bunny resulted in a salt-n-pepper baby.
