What does "TNT and TNT minecart explosions now have 100% drop rate" mean?
That no blocks or mob drops are destroyed in the explosions?
So one could use TNT to mine diamond ore with no loss of diamonds?
That bothers me more than it should but I really don't like the idea, it's WAY unrealistic.

Could there be something wrong with your keyboard?
If you have or can borrow another then test with it.
It seems very odd that it works with other keys but not <Space>, I don't suppose you have any keyboard driver or anything with settings for doing odd things? (Surely <Shift Lock> wouldn't have such an effect?)

Things may become clearer as you post, especially if there are screenshots but I'm a bit unclear on what your setup is?
I understand that you've got about 1.5 chunks to move around in but what's the border warning for?
To make the screen permanently red? Or is the border moving? (the 50 second warning makes no sense otherwise but you really don't have much room for a shrinking border.)

Even stranger, you can see things above the water from farther away when you are underwater.
In my first screenshot, taken at the bottom of the sea, a forest can clearly be seen on the far shore.
In the second, taken from the surface straight above the first, the landmass is nowhere to be seen.
Third screenshot, taken at dawn, shows the silhouette of the land and forest in the dawn glow.

If it's on a server they may have lowered the spawn rate to limit lag?
What are the cobblestone blocks for? Are those the blocks you say they spawn behind?
I would just remove them.
(Putting a block on top of the spawner might be useful to keep the mobs from standing on top of it)
Also it seems to me that the back wall is a bit closer than it needs to be so there could be mobs not spawning because they would have spawned where the wall is.
If you lower the floor so that the mobs drop down to at least 6 blocks below the spawner than new mobs can spawn before the previous ones have been moved out of range by the water stream, also that will keep them from getting stuck behind the spawner (or cobble blocks, but seriously, just remove those.)
I presume that you added light just for the screenshot? otherwise it's way too light, you want it as dark as possible.
Where do the mobs go? If they are just pushed up against the wall waiting for you to kill them then they may be to close to the spawner so that it stops spawning once there are six of them.

Sounds a bit boring to me.
How is the bonus chest "(very) recommended"?
(Apart from you having recommended it.)

String next to a cactus doesn't break it.
Not sure about a string on top of the cactus, I'm thinking it would just stop the growth.

Why do you want to place sand on them?

The cactus farm tutorial in the Wiki says that fence posts are better than blocks.
http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Tutorials/Cactus_farming
Personally I don't think it matters much, if you want the farm to produce cactus faster it's easy enough to just make it bigger.
Unless you're going for some kind of minimalist base or something.

I'm still here and still enjoying your posts, I just didn't have any comments on chapter three.
I'm a bit worried about your remaining villagers though, I see you've got them penned up (I presume those are cobblestone walls) but is there any light to keep zombies from spawning in there with them? I don't see any evidence in your screenshots that you are much of a believer in torches.

It's working for me.
I created a new world in 1.8.9 and flew around in Spectator mod and found quite a few dungeons of all kinds.
Even with the slider at max they aren't super common, it does take a bit of flying around to find them and it helps to set the brightness level to max.

If you want to compare I used the seed "-2036784871" or "Dungeons" in Customized with the Dungeon Count slider set to 100
I found a good cluster of dungeons at 642/20/-82 , 616/20/-81 , 616/20/-72 with a couple of cave spider spawners nearby and a couple more dungeons at 409/10/275 , 393/28/292 , 562/23/-156
They seem to be more or less common in different areas, perhaps depending on the type of caves or mineshafts in the area.

I'm glad you found them!
As I understand it they are less common near spawn.

Just stick a couple of villagers or zombies on a stage with stacked fenceposts as stripper poles.

Yes there is, if you log into the launcher with an account that doesn't own the game you get the demo instead of the full game.
You can play as usual but only on a single world (you can't enter a seed or use a random seed) and after 100 minutes you have to restart.
0
You need to register an account and log in in the launcher, then it opens as usual except it says "Play Demo" instead of "Play"

Why?

I think you just create an account at minecraft.net , log on and download the game?
