In my mind, it's just as pointless as DRM in video games - griefers will grief anyway and it'll just hinder legitimate players in the end, the same way that video game DRM doesn't stop pirates, it just annoys legitimate customers.
I see literally no benefit for having a whitelist on your server. But so many people seem to require you to post in their forum thread with your minecraft username before joining, I don't get it. What's the point?
Example 1:
A person joins your server after finding the IP, and destroys everyone's chests.
Example 2:
A person requests to be added to the whitelist, waits a day, then joins, and destroys everyone's chests.
I like how you banned shmekershmek and haven't even bothered to reply to his post asking why you did it, rather deciding to reply to the folks complimenting your server and doubleposting to bump.
