I just wrote a ton on this topic, tried to post it and got a 502 bad gateway (O___o). I like the idea and would download the mod if I could find one. I hope Jebb puts this in the game. Also copper, bronze, silver, and gold could be made into coins and used as a new form of currency in multiplayer or used in singleplayer for a money exchange between the player and the native villagers (millenaire mod). I would also like steel.
I've been thinking about steel and iron. Steel is considerably stronger than iron but requieres iron to create. To make steel you have to smelt iron. Jebb could add like a new block (refinery?), which is alot like a smelter. Steel could be classified as better than iron but not as fast as gold (a mix of the speed of breaking blocks like gold and the nonbreaking of iron). Also, there could be a new currency system in multiplayer or even singleplayer if jebb adds money exchange between the player and the native villagers (alot like the millenaire mod). The currency could be coins such as copper, bronze, silver, and gold coins, which are made with new ores. I've been craving for a forge system (a similar way like in Skyrim) where lava is required in a pool (this could be how you make steel instead of a refinery), also a sharpening stone could be used to make steel or iron sharper (alot like enchanting).
Very good idea! I think there could be like a cap to your storage maybe (10 levels?). Also since its so valuable it could be like nether based ingredients (glowstone or dust like you said) but also glass (the essential of a jar, of course), or some rare blocks (obsidian, diamond, or gold)
I like the idea of Darklands but I would think a volcanic region would suit it better, you know like volcanoes and ash. The idea is kind of like mordor like you said but still, you have a very good idea here. :biggrin.gif:
