posted a message on recipe book and dilapidated shacks
about a week ago I was looking at the latest snapshot thinking, ("Damn, they just keep adding more stuff!") While I believe that adding more stuff is a good thing, I'm also conflicted about how they expect us to remember all these crafting recipes! I mean the easiest thing to do is to download a mobile app like mine canary, or minebook pro, but I have a better and more interesting solution to this.
what if in the game random ruined houses spawned? and these houses are supposed to represent fallen players perhaps months or years before you found them? They aren't big, just small shacks that look like they may have been blown up by a creeper, and inside these shacks are a random assortment of specialty items based on a random number generator. I had a few specialties in mind off the top of my head:

    1. redstoneminer shack-
this shack would have one piston, a redstone block/torch and a chest that has some redstone dust as well as a book named "redstone handbook."

    2. farmer shack-
this shack would have a small farm plot next to it enclosed in a broken fence. the plots would have random plants in it, anything from wheat to melons, potatoes to sugar cane. inside the shack would be a crafting table and a chest with some random seeds and a book named "guide to farming."

    3. Mineshaft shack-
inside this shack would be a furnace with as much as 10 coal in it, and a chest with as good as an iron pick axe and a few iron ingots, and of course a book named "Miners guide." there should also be a tunnel behind the shack that goes down a little ways.

    4. alchemist's shack-
as the second rarest to appear, this shack would have an enchanting table, and a chest containing glass bottles, nether wart, and 1 bottle o' enchanting, as well as a book titled "potion making."

    5. masters hut-
this shack should be the rarest to appear. it is also the biggest one out of the 5. inside would be a bed, and a double chest, inside the chest would be a few diamonds, some wood, maybe a nether star, and a book that is named "survival guide"

now you may be thinking, "gee Harru, new structures seems like a pointless thing to add because we gotz NPC villages and mine shafts and strongholdz, and lotsa other neeto stuffs."
All I have to say about that is, "if you just focus on the structures as just being crappy inserts to fill up space, then you are missing the point." really its not about the structures, but its more about the sense of exploration... as well as the books that are in the structures!
each book would cover a different set of recipes based on what house it came from. the contents of the books show recipes in the form of picture displays instead of just text.:

    redstone handbook:
this book would cover how to craft all sorts of redstone powered stuff like pistons and dispensers and redstone repeaters. Also covering logic gates!

    guide to farming:
this would cover some protips on farming. You know, how much light things need to grow, special planting buffs for things like cacti and sugar cane, how to make bone meal, and hoes.

    Miners guide:
this book would cover how to make things like pickaxes, axes, furnaces. Would also give tips on how deep certain ores are generated, and tell how to create obsidian.

    potion making:
it has potion recipes... and a list of enchantments and what they do. As well as instructions on how to make stuff like brewing stands, and bottles, and ender chests.

    survival guide:
this book should be the most arbitrary of them all despite its rarity. But it can be useful. it gives instructions on how to make beds, jukeboxes and where to get discs. It tells how to mix dyes, make all sorts of other blocks and book shelves and that one recipe that you can never remember! >.<

You may still be thinking, "Now Harru, I can remember all of the recipes in minecraft! this would be a useless feature!" just the same, all I can say to that is, "some people have lives outside of our favorite blocky game and just don't have the capacity to remember all sorts of tedious crafting patterns, myself included. If you can remember EVERYTHING THEY EVER COME UP WITH IN THE FUTURE, then that is great for you! However, I would like a pretty nifty feature to assist me whilst not really holding my hand as well as adding to the exploration value,"
These shacks could also interlock with already existing features in the game, perhaps a mineshaft shack could be the entrance into an abandoned mineshaft, or maybe the redstone miner shack could be the entrance to a stronghold? The possibilities are ENDLESS! I read somewhere that Jeb was working on a "podium" for easy storage of books and was thinking, "Hey! that would tie in nicely with my idea!"
ANYWAY, thats all I really have to say about that. if you have any suggestions or flaming criticism, i'd love to read it. Thanks for viewing, have a good night/day

I got the chozo ghost done... more blue... hmm... 7_7
it has about 40% transparency because of their ability to turn invisible... however transparency in the png has no effect over the model. you might wanna see about setting transparency on the metroid and chozo ghost.

I read this post and decided to make this
    metroid mob texture:

its not all in one file, but you can save them individually by right clicking on them and selecting "save picture as" they are each 16x16 pixels and have transparency... Im not a coder, but simple textures, I can manage. ;D

posted a message on Minecraft expansion (completed weapons, food, and bow sets)
Hello modders, boy do i have a deal for you! well, not really a deal, as much an idea...
In minecraft, I am an archer. And in the game, as well as most mods, there is a stunning lack of varieties amongst bows. Ive already done all the pixelwork, and I just cannot script them because I cant comprehend C++, dispite my numerous other coding languages... 7_7
SO! Without further adue, here is the details:

this first crafting item, is the obsidian stick. its the only stick you'll need. We dont need iron rods, gold rods and diamond rods, I believe that they are a bit redundant.

now that you have made the obsidian stick, you can make the obsidian tools like normal tools only using obsidian and obsidian sticks, like so:

now you can make each of the bows with just the ingots and diamonds. like this:

That is an exception ofcourse to the obsidian bow... for that, you need the sticks:

and this is some obsidian armor. its made the same as all the other armor except for the chest piece. for that, youll need 1 eye of ender:

but thats not all! I also have a collection of food stuff!
this here is sliced bread. putting one bread loaf in the crafting space gives you 8 bread slices:

as well as bread, theres also cheese!!! put a bucket of milk in a furnace and it makes a cheese wheel! then put the cheese wheel in the crafting table and you get 8 cheese slices.:

after you got your bread slices, and your cheese slices. you can make the ultimate food... COLD SANWICH!! put bread slices on top and bottom, put cheese on both sides, and a porkchop or beef in the middle!!:

and if thats not enough awesomeness for ya, you can put it in the furnace to make A HEATED SANDWICH!!!! 0_0 :/drool:

That was the crafting changes, and this spoiler here is the item showcase:

Obsidian Stick- used to make obsidian tools, and obsidian bow.
Obsidian sword- has 5000 uses. 2 hearts stronger than diamond sword.
Obsidian pickaxe- has 5000 uses. mines all stone bassed blocks instantly. obsidian takes 3 seconds.
Obsidian axe- has 5000 uses. breaks wood blocks instantly.
Obsidian shovel- has 5000 uses. breaks dirt, gravel, sand, clay, and soulsand instantly.
Obsidian hoe- tills land. 5000 uses.
Obsidian helmet- armor value is 3.0. armor never breaks
Obsidian chest plate- armor value is 5.0. armor never breaks
Obsidian leggings- armor value is 1.0 armor never breaks
Obsidian boots- armor value is 1.0. armor never breaks
Iron bow- fires 10 blocks farther than wood bow. does 2.0 more damage than wood bow. has 100 more uses than wood bow.
Gold bow- fires 20 blocks farther than wood bow. does 1.5 more damage than wood bow. has 150 more uses than wood bow.
Diamond bow- fires 35 blocks farther than wood bow. does 3.0 more damage than wood bow. has 300 more uses than wood bow.
Obsidian bow- fires 50 blocks farther than wood bow. does 5.0 more damage than wood bow. has 1000 more uses than wood bow.
peach- comes from birch trees. (no they dont lolz) takes 2 seconds to eat. heals 1 heart. fills 1.5 food.
Corn- comes from a corn stalk (duh) can be replanted to make MOAR KORN!!! takes 2 seconds to eat. Heals 2 hearts when eaten. fills 0.0 hunger (because corn has no nutritional value)
Cheese wedge- takes 5.0 seconds to eat. fills 5.0 hunger, but also makes you sick.
Cheese slice- takes 1.0 second to eat. fills 0.5 hunger.
Bread slice- takes 1.5 seconds to eat. fills 1.0 hunger
Cold sammich- takes 3.0 seconds to eat fills 5.0 hunger
Heated sammich- takes 3.5 seconds to eat. fills 8.0 hunger
Corn stalk- plant... takes longer than carrots to grow fully. produces 4 Corn when harvested.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST!!!! here is the texture for the Obsidian armor:

    Obsidian armor1
    Obsidian armor 2
now you may be saying... "Gee Harru, ya stupid noob, you didnt post a download link to all of your sprites! how am I supposed to obtain them?"
well. its easy! simply right click on any sprite you want and click "save picture as." the sprites Ive posted here are all 16X16 resolution AND they all have the correct transparency thing goin on. so you can get the sprites that way.
Honestly, I dont care who uses my idea and for what. BUT If someone were to put this stuf in their mod or just make this mod in general. I could only ask that they could also make a bare mod with just this stuf in it and Email it to me or something...
ANYWAY, thats my mod idea... actually its more like an expansion.
    thanks for your time everybody!
