I think the console and pocket editions are usually about 1 year behind the PC version, so maybe next summer or fall you'll get the 1.7 biomes. Just a guess
A little off-topic, but I think it is ironic how the pocket edition is actually surpassing the console version in terms of features. In the next PE update (0.9.0) it is confirmed that infinite worlds will be added, along with 1.7 biomes.
They will, eventually. However, since the console versions are way behind PC, and I actually expect updates on console to be slower now because 4J needs to take care of 1 more platform, it is likely that it will be a pretty long wait.
Be happy you even got the game, and stop acting like the PS3 should become the platform with all the exclusive stuff. This is the 3rd time someone suggested PS exclusive mobs.
Does the X360 version have exclusive mobs? No. Why should the PS3 have them then?
What was, in your opinion, the golden age of Minecraft?
I can see very good arguments for every period.
Classic was simply epic for being the first. Even today, it never truly gets old. It also laid down some of the most essential features of Minecraft(Survival and creative mode, mobs(the creeper lol),and the overall emphasis exploring-collecting-building)
Indev-Infdev is usually forgotten by many, but like classic, laid down a lot of features that are today considered essential, especially for survival mode(tools, crafting, infinite worlds, doors)
Alpha was really the point the game started becoming famous. A few of the most famous and acclaimed Minecraft let's plays ever either started or mostly took place in Alpha (Yogscast(although the majority of the LP, including SOI took place in Beta), X and How to survive and thrive are the most famous ones, but there are many others that were still around 1 million views on the first video).
Pre-1.8 Beta was the golden age IMO. A bunch of features being added, game really started shooting to fame. Like Alpha, it had many, if not more, very famous and acclaimed series, not just counting let's plays(Shadow of Israphel, Far Lands or bust and probably many others I missed).
Post-1.8 Beta and the early 1.0 era saw a very radical change in the game itself(new terrain generator, hunger, enchanting, potions, new mobs...)
Post 1.3 is really just special because of the sheer amount of content being added. Although there are some famous ongoing LP's of vanilla(roosterteeth) I personally don't enjoy them very much.
So, what was Minecraft's golden age in your opinion?
Jealous? I've only ever played PC. I'll buy it for ps3 but mainly for my kids. I've played minecraft since around 1.7 beta... When I play single player I use 1.6.4. ....just my opinion, but no, they do not have a purpose. And in my opinion they are very ugly... Red sand? Podzol? Stone mountain? I'll leave them thank you
Sorry if I sounded rude, I was just really surprised that anyone really thought that the new biome changes were ugly. Pointless- mostly, red sand and podzol are useless because they are merely an aesthetic item. They make the biomes that they are located in much more pleasing to the eye, at least IMO.
I have also been playing the game for some time- Since Alpha 1.0.13 and trust me, I have seen a lot of terrain changes. From the generic bright-green grass biome that was the only biome that existed apart from the snowy variation of it, the amazing and iconic Beta generation, the relatively disappointing post Beta 1.8 generation, and now the 1.7 generation. IMO the new 1.7 is the best there is- No more taiga next to desert, unique and detailed biomes, diverse height generation with wide plains and mountains with excellent views...
Also, I really think that of all, the 1.8 Beta generation to 1.7 was really the least-good Minecraft ever had- incredibly flat and boring terrain being the primary cause.
I just hope it has infinite worlds someday and never adds those ugly/pointless new biomes from 1.7. That's all
Let me guess, you are jealous because the PC version is far superior to the console version and got a massive overhaul that the console did not? I am on PC, and those biomes are far from ugly or pointless.
1. That was really the only thing that could have been put in the news, there was nearly nothing else except for maybe the ion engines being invented
2. Sorry for not putting it at the end of your status, I am actually going to make a new section at the end of every turn that has all current missions and their statuses, doing it right now, in fact))
