You can put a map there to act as a waypoint. No support.

I really don't understand what you mean by this. Care to clarify?

posted a message on Map markers
Have you ever explored the vast lands of Minecraft to find something purely amazing? Whether it be a massive cave, a breathtaking canyon or huge mountain, you probably wanted to have a way to remember its location. Right now, the most logical way of doing that is F3 mode. However, a lot of people see that as a way of cheating and it really doesn't feel like a part of the game experience.

That is where map markers would come in handy. Right now, maps are only used to not get lost in your local area and that is mostly it. You can't mark your home or a landmark on them so they feel much less useful than they normally could.

Basically, here is how map markers would function(there are large images so it is in a spoiler):

    1. You find some sort of landmark or anything else really that you would want to mark on a map. In the picture below, say we want to remember the location of this little lake.

    2. We take out our map, and if we have the proper materials, we would be able to mark our location on the map. First of all, we will need an ink sac and a feather to mark the location(in the picture below you can see that we now have an ink sac and feather in our inventory).

    3. With the map in our hands, we right click to bring up the marking GUI. By default, you would be able to make a rectangle as your marker. With the mouse wheel, we would be able to choose the X-mark as well. In the picture below we are about to draw the rectangle around the lake.

    4. We can now name our marker. The letters would automatically be centered. You can also customize the size of the letters with the mouse wheel. Let's give this location a name.

    5. We click enter, and there you have it! The marker will be there until you decide to erase it. 1 ink sac from your inventory is removed automatically, but the feather is not used.

    6. If you ever want to get rid of the marker, we just double right-click with the map in our hands and you will be able to choose which marker to erase

If you like this idea, please support it by clicking on the 'support' button on the bottom right. If you didn't say why, as it will be greatly appreciated.

posted a message on Mods as DLC?
A lot of people suggest this, and while it is a good idea, here are the reasons it wouldn't work:

    1. 4J could have done this ages ago if they wanted. Since there isn't even any info from 4J on this, I doubt they are thinking about it all.
    2. Mods would cause a lot of problems with servers. Problems as in, say I wanted to join a friends server. Since there is just a pile of possible mods, I could easily have the A and B mod, while my friend has the X and Y mod. What do we do then? Yep, we are pretty much screwed unless they implement an actual system to switch between mods and vanilla.
    3. The porting and updating of the mod. Who is going to do it, really? Now, there are 2 options:

    a) The modders do it and just give it to 4J to distribute. Obviously this would cause a magnitude of problems. First of all, they would require access to the code of the console version, which I don't think 4J is comfortable with doing. Second, MC on PC is written in Java, while MC on consoles is written in C++. Since I program, I can guarantee that the 2 are drastically different, so it instantly excludes modders that do not code in C++. Second, since the versions themselves are so different, porting the mod would not just be a thing of copy-pasting the code. You would have to specifically adapt it to the console version, which I again dont think most modders would want to do.
b ) 4J does it. This is a bad idea as well. Why? Because it would, first and foremost, slow development of the game to nearly a screeching halt. They would have to update the game, update the 10 mods, and how much time would pass? Yes, a lot. Then, if they are porting and updating the mod on console, the mod owner on PC technically has done nothing to port the mod to console. So do they give him a small part of the income from the DLC or not? I am honestly assuming they wouldn't in this case. What happens then? Modders feel ripped off and you get Minecraft's most important layer of community nearly rebelling against you, which is bad.

    4. A mod API will be released eventually. Whether it will ever come to console is a different issue, but we can just hope for now.

Wow, just tried this in 1.6.2. It is amazing. Usually, the eerie silence in Minecraft is both annoying and creepy for me, so this mod makes the world so much more full of life.

Also, does anyone know when will forge update?

posted a message on Why Survival Mode has Become Boring
Threads like this are kind of starting to annoy me. Why? Because they are completely pointless. Instead of making a legit suggestion on how to improve survival mode and make it longer-lasting, you simply whine about how it has become boring for you.

Now, don't get me wrong. Survival mode does get boring inevitably if you play it for long. As an alpha player, I can confirm this.

To be honest, Mojang needs to focus on, how should I say, dynamic features, features that would change your world over time and make it feel less static. For now, seasons would probably do magic if executed properly(not just leaf color changing and snow falling during winter, but actual features that change gameplay, like season-specific mobs, season-specific enchantments, plants, etc.)

That would make survival 5 times better than it is now.

posted a message on What do you think of 1.7.2?
3rd best update I have ever witnessed, only behind the Halloween update(1st place and probably always will be) and pretty scary update(2nd place).

Only major con for me is the fact that forge, and therefor 90% of the mods arent updating to 1.7. Why? I have no clue.

posted a message on Is it worth it!?
As said before me, no. And here is the reason why:

Back in 2010 MC lets plays were literally a gold mine because the game was relatively new, gaining popularity very quickly and the demand for lets-play videos was very high.

Back then, it was literally possible to make a blockbuster MC lets-play series even if you were a completely obscure new-starting youtuber(There is one LP by a person who was doing it for the first time and the first video has half a million views right now, and not to mention how famous SOI by the Yogscast became, and back then they were very far from the MC youtuber juggernauts they are now).

However, fast forward to 2014 and you get a completely different picture.

By now, MC has become so popular and has such a big fanbase that it has become oversaturated with people trying to make it big on youtube by starting an MC lets play(but lets face, the gold mine has long-since been emptied).

It is very hard to stand out among the literally thousands of modern MC lets plays.

Not only that, but you would get completely eclipsed by LPs of big youtubers(that sad piece of crap Roosterteeth LP, Tobygames...)

My suggestion? It is best to do lets-plays of indie games if you are small. Since there are usually few LPs of these small indie games, you are much more likely to gain viewership. Anyways, good luck with your youtube career!

This has to be the worst suggestion I have ever seen. I read it, and will be baffled if this is a serious suggestion rather than an ordinary troll.

Word-of-mouth has already propelled the game from an obscure title to one of the most successful games of all time. I am pretty sure TV ads are not needed at this point.

posted a message on Suggestion: a rule for suggesting features already in another version of the game
NOTE: I have nothing against players on console or PE edition versions of Minecraft. Keep that in mind this whole time.

First of all, I am not sure if this is the right place to post or not, but I think it is as close as it gets to what this whole topic is about.

Recently, the PS3 edition was released, and I, like many, many others, was happy.

So I decided I would go and read some of the threads on the new PS3 forums, check out what is going on there. I went to the suggestions sub-forum, seeing there are 8 threads there. I went to check them to see what people exactly would like new to be implemented to the PS3 version and what they feel is lacking.

Unfortunately, what I found there was disappointing.

Out of the 8 newly created threads, 5 are just blatantly wishlisting PC features, with not one bit of original ideas thrown in.

My suggestion is that a new rule is made that affects suggestions on all platforms that states that suggestions that just ask for a feature that is on another platform are not allowed.

On the other hand, this does not mean that it is not allowed to post ideas about the feature, however with a twist or fair amount of original ideas thrown in.

What is your opinion on this?

It's coming to the Pocket Edition. Current gen consoles have way more storage than typical mobile platforms so yeah it's definitely possible.

Storage space isn't a problem. The biggest save-file I have ever gotten in minecraft was around 2 GB, and that was an ancient world I constantly played and explored since Alpha 1.0.14 or something like that. Current gen consoles could have supported this world even at launch. The problem is the processing power and RAM required for it, which current gen lacks. Some modern day tablets have more processing power and RAM that current gen consoles, so that is why infinite worlds on PE will be optional.

Also, it would require a complete engine rewrite, which I doubt 4J would do.

The best thing that you could possibly add would be infinite worlds like on pc. I don't care if i have to sit through a loading screen every time i go too far, just make it happen!

    *sigh*

How many times will people suggest this,,, There are already 10^10 threads like this on the X360 forums, and I doubt it will be different here. When will people understand that current gen consoles cannot do this.

I am expecting it will be possible on next-gen, but current gen? No.

    Quote from EnderTheKid

Also, Mods! Add them as DLC! I AND MANY OTHERS WILL BUY THEM!

I am sorry to burst your bubble, but I can never see mods ever coming to consoles, even as DLC.

Also, I know this will sound harsh, but to all future PS3 and X360 suggestions:

Please do not just blatantly ask for PC features. Most PC features will come out for consoles sooner or later. Instead, why dont you make an actual quality suggestion for the console versions? Like better split-screen support or something.
