Grayson leaned up against the charred excuse for a tree. He pulled his scarf over his face, it was insufferably hot, but the sand and the dry air was beginning to fill his lungs. He could hear the legionares in the distance, he was not a local, but had heard the horror stories of the Legion and knew they didn't play well with others. He got up, brushed the dust off his coat and carried on, the war drums still moving in his direction.
He moved along the cracked and beaten highway when he saw a settlement in the distance. Feeling more secured he picked up the pace only to have his heart sink when he saw the two-headed bear flag come into view. He had come into contact with the NCR before when he began moving west. He looked back over his shoulder for and stopped for a moment. "Maybe it would be better to be crucified than to have to deal with these self-righteous pricks" he muttered to himself. He sighed and kept moving forward. He knew they meant well, but never really cared for the "with the barrel of my gun" approach to freedom or civility.
He finally made it to the camp and was met with a chainlink fence and a uniform man with a clip board. The soldier looked up and said with almost a groan, "Name?"
"Ulysses, Ulysses Grayson"
"Profession?" The guard asked in a gravely voice, clearly scarred from years of smoking.
"Uhhh, physician of sorts I suppose."
"Take a seat next to the others."
Grayson sat on the nearby bench, accompanied by an obvious caravaner. They sat their in silence for a few moments before the soldier with the clipboard opened the gate and notioned for him to enter the camp. He then turned to Grayson and said "Sorry buddy, we're all full tonight, nothing we can do about it."
Shocked, he raised his hand in protest for a moment, then realized the futality of it and walked off without a word. About thirty minutes later he heard gunshots coming from the direction of the camp. Smoke rose from the cabins inside the fence, suddenly he realized why the Legionares were moving north. He smirked for a moment, then swung his scarf back around his neck, it was getting cold now.
Character biography:
Ulysses Grayson was the local doctor for a small settlement east of Arizona. He picked up the trade from his father the best he could, but with little pre-war medical books left in the area his knowledge in the medical fields was mostly basic, but the settlement rarely had conflicts or accidents so not much was needed. When his father passed at the age of 54, he became the settlement's only doctor. After his father's passing the couriers stopped bringing medical supplies in, no one knew how he had made contact with them before. It wasn't long before the old began dieing off and the smallest of injuries became maliciously infected. The town soon after disbanded, Grayson being one of the last ones to leave. He started roaming westwards, helping whoever he could with whatever he had. People still died around him and his guilt still eats away at him.

The game is team based survival, where you still mine for resources and hunt for food, but you are on a team of 4, and their is an opposing team that is trying to raid you and compete for resources. Each team has a fortress that they must protect, in each fortress there is a flag that the enemy must capture and you must protect. If you can bring the enemy flag back to your base, you are awarded with 50 xp, if you can kill someone taking the flag and return it to your base, you are awarded 25 xp. In the fortress there are stone tools, building materials, and arrows; if you want better gear, you have to get it yourself. You can make your own homes behind the fortress as well. You are allowed to use any weapon you want (swords, bows, potions, fire, traps, etc.). In addition to the two teams, there is the independents who belong to no team. You can make allies with the teams, or attack them both.
Rules:
Do not break fortresses with picks or other tools, you may only destroy fortress walls using TnT.
Do not team kill.
You are allowed to kill anyone who is not on your team.
You may steal from any player or player home, but please do not steal from the chests inside the fortresses.
Do not spawn camp, there are designated areas for spawn that you may not enter if you are an enemy.
