Lucrecious posted a message on [1.7.10] Coding Custom 3D Armor Models - Video SeriesHello!Posted in: Mapping and Modding Tutorials
I myself was very confused when I first started modelling armor so I've taken the time and effort to create a video series on the subject starting from the very beginning and going to the very end.
Video Structure
On average, every video is about 20 minutes long - and there are six parts... This is because I do my best in trying to explain everything I'm doing so people can follow along and learn to fix their own mistakes.
Now - I understand that many people just need to know how to fix little things here and there, maybe someone is only interested in a certain part of the video, or maybe some just don't have enough time to watch through two hours of footage. For those cases I've added time stamps in the description in every video that allows you to skip to a desired point/explanation I make. There are time stamps for all the things I deem important and worth skipping to.
I also put in many annotations (also time stamped) to help people along, clarify things I feel I've left unclear, and to correct myself when I say something that's just outright wrong. So make sure to leave annotations on and if you miss any you can just look through the time stamps in the video description.
Lastly, the videos are separated in this manner.
1. Modelling the Armor
2. Texturing the Armor
3. Setting up the Custom Armor class
4. Setting up the Custom Model class
5. Showing the Model In-Game
6. Polishing (Fixing every glitch/bug/texture/model problems)
Resources
I took a lot of inspiration from a few other armor modelling tutorials and I put it all together to make, what I feel, is a very nice environment for armor modelling.
Subaraki's 3D armor Tutorial - the basis of my understanding
coolAlias' Custom Armor, the OOP Way - used a few methods and ideas
Pahimar's Let's Mod Rebooted Series - used a few methods and ideas
I make sure to credit the obvious stuff here and there in the video, verbally, through annotations and in the description when it's relevant.
As a side note, I don't mention Subaraki's tutorial in any video since his tutorial is generalized enough to be considered common procedure when adding armor models into Minecraft. I only credit when I've literally copied code from someone else.
Videos
Make sure to turn annotations on and to read the description to skip to any points of interest.

Disclaimer
I tried to make the videos entertaining to watch because I knew they were going to be long, so I may get a little obnoxious at times in an attempt to be funny, of course.
Notes
If, for some reason, any of the people I've referenced for resources would like me to take off the link to their tutorial on this thread (not in the videos), or change where the links go, please don't hesitate to message me.
If anybody has any questions feel free to ask here. I might answer on Youtube, but I prefer here on the thread. Also, I am still new to modding in general, so anyone is welcome to answer any questions on this thread. I won't bite.
Cheers,

Cryptopian posted a message on Amazing diversity in this world!Posted in: SeedsSeed: 8400773857745460292
An amazing diversity of biomes and features.
Spawn in at the edge of a jungle with a plains village just northwest, and a desert village (which does NOT show on the Amidst map) to the northeast (at roughly 50,150 or so)
Nearby are plains, forest, desert and mesa plus a couple of mushroom islands, savanna, taiga, extreme hills, the works.
Nearest ocean monument is just over 1000 blocks southeast.
Screenshot is from high above spawn point showing both nearby villages.

MickNewell posted a message on Planes of Thaumcraft (A Thaumcraft Addon)Posted in: Requests / Ideas For ModsEver since the fall of 2016, I've been designing an addon for Thaumcraft that's based on EverQuest: Planes of Power. I still have a long way to go before the designing is complete. In the meantime I have much on my external hard drive that I need to update on my deviantart page. A crude visual of how my auto-essentia-thing-system works. If you don't get it, just ask what I did.
I basically hooked up everything with essentia coils. (Ginormous thanks to the person who created Technomancy!)
What's especially neat is that you can hook up the coils to an alchemical construct.
My setup uses ZERO essentia tubes. >:)That video is reeeeaally low quality. I'll do a better one later, with a better explanation.

TheXWolf posted a message on Minecraft Windows 10 Edition - mods ?Posted in: MCWIN10: DiscussionThe MCP, which is what forge has been based off of for years was made with the cooperation of Mojang. Mods aren't just "cheats" or things "the developers didn't want added." They are additions to the game that made the game repeatable for many of us who had vanilla beaten years ago. Mods like Tinkers and the-like take the game to new levels for us. Yes it's infinitely creative, but only within it's parameters, which isn't enough for some of us.
To say something ignorant like "Most mods are nothing but cheats anyway" invalidated thousands of hours of work people with programming experience, have taken their time to do. Many of these popular mods have been downloaded over 10 million times and in the case of Tinkers, 20m, and obviously mean a great deal to some people.
Now, if you want an actual mod and not just a simple addon, yes Gunner is correct in the fact you probably wanna stick with the Java version.
I'm not gonna go into the monetize speech because MS did buy it and wants to make money off it, though making money off texture packs and such to me is silly, but that's just my humble opinion. -

HUGE props to you for this. VERY impressed.

I believe 1.12 will still be prevalent by the time he gets around to it. 1.13 isn't just around the corner, it's just been said to come within the next year.

Okay, well you want a dumbed down answer? MF dragons are only "difficult" because of the whacky AI. Ice and Fire dragons are much more fleshed out and offer a very good challenge while keeping the vanilla feel in check. There's no point in keeping both in game. When I port to version 1.12, MF2 dragons will be removed when ice and fire is detected.

Hey, guys. I'm paying for four mods in mind to be backported. PM me if interested. Serious inquiries only. Thanks!

In my opinion, TC4 is superior to TC5. But that's just me.

What on -earth- are you saying?

Yes there is! It's called Better with Mods, and is available here -
https://minecraft.curseforge.com/projects/better-with-mods
For 1.10, 1.11 and 1.12 (soon).
Also, if you're playing 1.11, there's also Better with Addons available for this mod, which actually aims to add expansions originally for BTW.

The reason developers have such a strong stance against backporting is because of the sheer amount of work it takes. 1.7 had a vastly different infrastructure than the newer versions of minecraft and backporting is an absolute chore. Asking them to do it is just out of the question, it's already enough of a job to keep pushing a mod to newer minecraft versions as it is.
However, if this were to ever become open source, I'm sure someone would do it. I do agree that this mod would fit in nicely with some of the older mods for 1.7, but for now that's just asking too much and it should be respected.

Easy there, tiger...

It'll take some time due to the mechanics within the mod. If it were just simple blocks and mobs that'd be a different story.
