What good are minecarts at all when the coal-fired engines don't work? Yeah, you could waste gold making powered mine carts, but that is a real pain. I wonder if this is being fixed in 1.8? Haven't seen it listed, but I could have missed it, as it is an existing bug, not a new one.

Is it Multiplayer? They dont work at All in multiplayer

Dunno about multiplayer. In single player they do not function correctly (see my last post).

Well, I tried this again. I have a very long track that I am currently using powered rails, but I'd like to reclaim those for use elsewhere. So I made an 'engine' cart and place it on the track - it will still go by itself. Sat in a minecart, put coal in the engine and off it ran in the opposite direction... *sigh* Not unexpected. So I got out, reset the two carts, put the coal in the engine, hopped OVER the engine and accidentally sent the empty minecart down the tracks. Got in very fast and the engine actually pushed the minecart I was in! EXTREMELY slowly, and it kept pushing it extremely slowly... slower.... slower... slowwwwwerrr... until it finally stopped. It was almost like a human-pushed minecart going slower, but in VERY slow motion. Strange behavior.

Anyway, has there been any word if engine carts and trains will be fixed in 1.8 (or any other patch)? I'd really love it if they were. I want to build some layouts that do not depend on redstone and gold rails, mostly because of the length.

Also, I know it has been mentioned before, but I would also love to be able to use pistons to launch mine carts on redstone powered rails - all sorts of fun could be had with that, hehehe.

Thanks for any help or insight into these questions!

    NEW PROBLEM!

In addition to the previous issue, my N-S train that USED to work yesterday suddenly would not run unless I right clicked AND HELD THE MOUSE BUTTON down (using coal in the active hotbar spot). If you are in a passenger mine cart, and want to go west, you turn to face the furnace and fuel it - only to see the powered mine cart go away from you in the opposite direction... at least until you are out of right-click range, then it just stops because it thinks it has no fuel.

So, as of right now, N-S powered mine cart trains only work with constant hold down of right mouse button.

Not only do E-W powered mine cart trains not run at all, but they are also affected by the right-click-and-hold problem.

(Don't have any gold yet to make powered rails, so not an option... yet.)

OK, I made a short section of track perpendicular to last nights track and ran into no problems at all. There is some problem preventing trains running from where the sun rises to where the sun sets (is it East-West in game?).

Thanks again for the replies. Not sure what I am going to do with my existing track. Probably just leave it and work a new track line and hopeit gets fixed. I read somewhere before writing this that there was a confirmed problem, but I have to read an official statement.

Is this the topic you're looking for?

Heh, yeah, thank you. I tried a different spot in my profile and found it there as well. I think I need a bit more time in these forums - not used to this forum software at all. Thank you! :smile.gif:

Weird, I did a search for 'train' in the Support forum and it returned no results. Does search not include post titles. only content?

I made a post sometime last night about an issue I was having with trains. I got a few responses quite quickly, which surprised me - I thought I would have to wait a day or two for help. I had to leave the post last night (again, not expecting quick results), and today I cannot find it. I do not know if it was deleted as I have no notifications of any kind. Is there a way to find out where it went? I did a search from my profile and it says I have no posts. I was hoping to read it today and thank those that tried to help me last night...

Well, I haven't advanced to powered -rails- yet. Still a total minecraft n00b, hehehe.

I will try making another set of tracks tomorrow. From I've seen of youtube videos, this should work. The only thing I have not mentioned is that the rail is straight, and does not connect back up to itself...

Thanks for the suggestions... and keep 'em coming! Please!

(P.S. - playing the single player mode, peaceful setting (for now)).

I'm not sure I understand... however I have tried moving the cart in both directions on separate occasions, and it will not move with other carts (in either direction).

Hi all. I've tried searching the forums and reading the wiki, but I can't seem to resolve my little minecart issue. I'm sure I have missed the answer somewhere, or it is blindingly obvious, so please forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere. I'm thick. :smile.gif:

No redstone powered tracks, no Mods of any kind, Minecraft 1.6.6.

So, the problem: I've made a flat, level track (no turns or elevation changes). Tracks are clear of obstructions. I've created a powered minecart, a storage minecart, and a ride-able minecart. The powered minecart alone chugs along just fine by itself. However, when I try to push either of the other two carts, the powered cart and the passive cart seem to 'merge' and go nowhere. By merge I mean that the two carts appear squeezed together up to (but not including) the smelter from the powered cart and the storage box from the other cart. Similar results happen with the riding cart. Smoke does come out of the powered cart, so I know it can move. I can get on the tracks and push the other cart forward a bit, but when the powered cart eventually catches it, the same problem occurs.

I'm scratching my cubic head here. What am I doing wrong?
