    Quote from lphillips1208»

Hello I need help with a simple redstone sticky piston thing I am not good at redstone so I need help from someone who is! pls reply back...

Sure thing, attach (the non-piston side of) a sticky piston to an opaque block (something like a full block of: wood, stone, dirt, sand, gravel, wool, etc, but NOT: TNT, glowstone, glass, stairs, slabs, etc). then attach a button or a lever to the same block.

Walla!!! redstone powered sticky piston without using redstone.

Anything more than that and you'll have to explain what it is that you are trying to do in way more detail than you have already.

We'll have to wait til Wednesday to find out but they do keep saying "Alex skins". Suggests more than one to me.

This screen shot definitely suggests multiples:

Does landing on cobwebs negate fall damage? I'll try it tonight if I remember. Also, I suppose you could use a height reset similar to those used in enderman farms?

I've never hear about crouching working... not sure about cobwebs... ladders aren't that good unless you use a lot of them (you can take fall damage when you hit the ladder), however vines do work pretty well. bucket of water is probably the easiest way to get around if you are just out and about and need something quick and temporary to get down, though, just drop and reclaim, and ride the water down.

    Quote from Killin_dat_mob»

I can't remember the exact thread, but it had the familiar folks who post often in these threads building on it. Basically the rough idea was that upon selecting the options for creating your world, you should have the ability to include and exclude certain biomes from your world, and select what percentage of each biome will be present on the map. This editing would also allow you to select the ocean height of the world along with the block height.

    This thread? http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-xbox-360-edition/mcx360-discussion/mcx360-suggestions/2122570-better-biome-placement#c12

Although similar, it is still very different in that it still relies on random seed for terrain generation and as such, is not ideal for creating specific maps.

I'm in the camp of those who support a good map editor (even something to the level of MCedit). Most of the things I hear people showing off are structure builds of some sort, not really in the realm of terrain building. Although some landscaping may take place within these builds, rarely is there a massive map wide terrain modification that would be used in mimicing a particular world map (like what 4J did with the Skyrim mash-up).

But like Killin_dat_mob said, it would have to be for a Creative Map (initially). you could always change this to survival or adventure mode after it is built, but Achievements should be disabled for the reasons mentioned above.

    Quote from mckeedee123»

Hmm... The response so far has been sort of sterile. I assumed that people would find this interesting, based on how much I've always wanted to edit the terrain to complement my creations, or maybe even just my mood, when I enter survival.

Please allow a little time to pass for us to respond... a lot of us have real lives and we don't sit in front of the computer on these forums 24/7 just to respond to inquiries immediately. Your second post is barely an hour after your first posting.

A feature that should be included is a biome/seed overlay so the player can see what biomes will be placed on the map. Although biomes wouldn't necessarily affect the terrain initially generated by your map maker suggestion, it will affect weather patterns, and it would be nice to be able to scroll through the available biomes to find a good weather pattern match for your world (especially since modifying biome/weather boundaries beyond the seed value is not likely going to be implemented).

posted a message on Have YOU seen Super-Charged Creeper on the Xbox?

It won't tame them... you'll have to tag quickly and run away, be invisible to them, or otherwise escape their notice, or they will explode, but it will make it so they won't automatically despawn when you move more than 128 blocks away from them... so you could (in theory) pen them up as a zoo exhibit of sorts.

I just hide behind cover until they peek their head around the corner and then I cut them down before they can do much else. I don't usually bother to waste arrows on them unless they have me out in the open and I don't have good cover.

what about that weird looking tree in the top left. it's the tallest one. could that possibly be something? it looks different from the others.
Edit - also who is alex anyways? wasn't steve good enough for us, and why did they decide to make a new one?

That could just be spruce...I'm not sure.

Anyway, Alex was introduced in Java/PC version 1.8 and appears to be the female equivalent of the Steve default skin, more here:

posted a message on Have YOU seen Super-Charged Creeper on the Xbox?

I've seen 1 charged creeper swimming toward land in one of my ocean (survival island) worlds... it was before name tags were introduced, so I really had no way to contain him so that he wouldn't despawn, so I ended up killing him while he was in the water.

posted a message on Multiplayer support for NON-HDTVs on the same console [Local, not LAN]

Mojang doesn't work on the console platform (they do the Computer side version only)... you should appeal to 4J Studios instead.

Although, I do have to agree with this sentiment... I originally got Minecraft on the XB360 so I could play with my son on split screen... but I didn't have an HD TV at the time, and found out after purchasing the game... so I ended up purchasing a HD TV and a wall mount only to discover that my older version of XBox 360 didn't have an HD output... so I ended up having to replace that (the previous one suffered a red ring of death issue shortly after that anyway, so no big deal at the time).

Anyway... it turned out to be extremely costly in upgrades just to play a $20 game on split screen, and frankly, I'm not sure why it's mandatory to have HD... sure some text and details would be distorted, but that would be the price for using a lower (standard) definition video output.

New skin posted in Twitter... Looks like they are starting to cater to the female players by introducing Alex to the console.

I'm not seeing anything unusual in the background though...but to be fair, a lot of it is hard to make out clearly beyond the end portal there, i can make out a potion brewing stand, an anvil, a wall of bookshelves, a crafting table, something that looks like it could be a furnace, dispenser, or dropper, probably a cauldron... but nothing super out of the ordinary.

posted a message on Eye of Ender / Stronghold question

Maybe it is a matter of terminology... when you say 'dungeon' are you referring to a single room with a monster generator in it that might be found within a cave systems? or are you referring to something a bit more elaborate? Lots of corridors, rooms, stairs twist and turns, etc.

If you are playing the PC version (not the console version) then there are 3 strongholds per world... and a stronghold can look like a dungeon if you don't know what you are looking at and you aren't that familiar with Minecraft yet.

    posted a message on Cement/Concrete

I'm pretty sure this has been suggested before... Volcanic Ash would be ideal for the last ingredient to use as the bonding agent, however, I agree with Syeonyx, that clay would be a reasonable substitute that is already available in the game.

There would have to be a limit as to how many blocks 1 use would 'fill' (maybe a 13 block limit from the flow? up to 2 in each direction + the 1 block center and diagonals on a flat surface)... or just a flat 3x3 square surface area (9 blocks).

As to using flint... gravel acts just fine for the aggregates IMO, I don't think requiring flint as part of the recipe is necessary.

Maybe offer an alternate recipe to add a steel ingot to make reinforced concrete which is harder to break with anything less than a steel pickaxe and is a bit more resistant than stone when mining.

posted a message on What is the maximum size for a Passive Mob farm?

I've often wondered about that 20x20 limitation... I've never really tested it though. Technically, the rule as stated is if a passive MOB can move 20 blocks in any direction, it can despawn... and the way MC has traditionally measured a diagonal is by counting it as 2 blocks (1 in the X direction and 1 in the Z direction)... such that a 20x20 pen would technically have a 40 block diagonal path from corner to corner.

In theory, by the way distance is measured in game, this should allow passive mobs to despawn if they were closer to a corner than at the center in a 20x20 pen, but I've heard a number of people say that the 20x20 pens work reliably well, so it may be based more off of more straight (less diagonal) measurements?

Today Eyes of ender led me to three dungeons! I never get led to strongholds, I only get led to dungeons.

It sounds like you aren't using them correctly...or you aren't following them all the way to their ultimate destination and you are just randomly stumbling upon dungeons along your path while you are trying to follow/use them.
