posted a message on MCXBLA OFFICIAL KNOWN BUGS DISCUSSION

In support of what BloodyPhoenix said, this particular bug is not as critical as many other bugs that have been found in the past. And although I agree that the game should ever strive to be bug free (virtually impossible in most complex programs...especially the ones that are constantly growing and changing), this particular glitch doesn't allow player to have a game breaking exploitation that will artificially inflate their stats (as if anyone really cares about that), nor does it cause saved game files to be corrupted and deleted, nor does it crash the game console, etc.

I would agree that the priority on this bug is relatively low should a more significant bug should rear its ugly head as has occurred in the past and would further say that although 4J SHOULD fix this when they can get around to it... they don't REALLY NEED to fix it any time super soon.

Except the discs don't auto-eject from the Jukebox after they finish playing. It has to be done manually, which would defeat the purpose.

Yeah, I'm not seeing any youtube videos where this has been done successfully, and I'm not in front of MC right now to test it... What if you had a redstone activated hopper below the jukebox to pull the disc out when it isn't powered similar to how is done with an automated furnace?

    Two ideas I had were:

-Make the music discs put into the Jukebox semipermanently change the music that plays only until the disc is actually removed.

-Make it possible to link Jukeboxes together by Redstone or some other means, so that music played in one plays from all the ones linked to it.

Would any of these be considered game-changing?

I wonder if this is possible with using hoppers droppers and redstone as it is....

Fair enough... I too may have gotten a little bent out of shape. Working in retail requires me to force and fake a lot more patience with worse people than I naturally have. By the end of a work day, I'm so tired of trying to not 'offend the intelligence' of people I would like to dare them to prove that they have any to offend, I tend to stop holding back.

Important lesson here too, not all those friendly smiles at your local Walmart are genuine. Some of those people are on their last nerve and faking it. So don't be a jerk to them. They have enough to deal with, without customers being difficult.

My apologies if I offended anyone in my prior posts. I am wondering if there's any threads out there for discussing in-game music and the Jukebox.

I can relate, I work in telephone technical support (IT) and there are a lot of people who call up and are openly hostile toward the very people who are answering the phones trying to help them out and make their day a little better by assisting to resolve their technical issues.

I understand customers feeling the need to vent, but taking their frustrations out on the people who are there to help you out seems a bit counter productive to me... but then again... I have yet to have someone call into technical support to tell me that all their stuff works great and to keep up the good work.

I don't know of any specific thread related to music specifically... but unless the suggestion warrants a greater amount of in depth discussion, the Small Suggestions Thread is probably as good a place to post a quick minor suggestion... if the suggestion is game changing, a quick search to see if anyone has already suggested something similar and adding to that thread before starting a new thread is typically advised.

Well then I sound like a jerk. I'm frankly tired of diluting everything I say so that the meaning or passion of my position is lost on people, just to spare their delicate feelings from speaking to a person who says what they mean, mean what they say, and anything read into it is a product of their own paranoid delusions. I offered the idea, but not so I could be whined at about how it will make hosting online games which can be made Friends Only, harder on the host.

if someone has any real technical reasons it wouldn't work, fine, but leave your drama out of it.

I can appreciate your position and point of view as I too do not engage in online play at all anyway (except when working as a volunteer admin for a local Minecraft promotional game for our downtown Museum thus far, but that hasn't been on the console platform as yet). However, 4J is much more likely to listen to and implement ideas that have good merit and game balance across all types of players and not just to placate players like you and I.

This is a discussions forum, and various users here will provided feedback to any and all suggestions, this is not in an effort to dissuade individuals of their ideas, but rather to provide feedback questions as to the issues that the developers will likely have with an idea in an effort to, through the course of discussion, alter or flesh out an idea more fully to better fit the game and ultimately (hopefully) make the idea better (on the whole for everyone) than it started out as.

IMO, Last_Crayon, misspoke when they said that 'you sound like a jerk', that was clearly their own emotional opinion and the comment wasn't necessary. But if you don't care about other people's opinions other than your own nor other people's play-styles, then perhaps an open public forum is not the ideal place for you to post your opinions.

If you DO want your ideas taken seriously here on these open public forums, then you will suck up the criticism that is given, take it for what it is, and use it to tweak and alter your ideas to make them better overall in the long run.

Technically, I don't see any issues with a transparent skin, it is easy enough to apply from a programming standpoint.

I know it doesn't exist on the PC so it's not likely either, but it ties in to the first: an empty bookshelf. Built in pretty much the same way as the normal bookshelf, only minus the books, and it has the option to be filled with between 4 and 8 books that the player can edit. Left-clicking on it will open an inventory showing the current books within it, and it will show the number of books already stored there when not looking at the GUI.

Yeah... but until then, there's a way to exploit a glitch to make a bookshelf that can store items (like books).

Set a block (dirt or something else) where you want the shelf, put a track on the block and a minecart with chest on the track.

Break the block so that the minecart with chest falls into the space where you want the bookshelf and the track under it break out.

Setup a piston and bookshelf block directly above the minecart and use the piston to push the bookshelf on top of the minecart with chest.

The minecart may be sticking a little out at this time and you may have to 'push at the edges to try and hide the minecart more fully within the bookshelf, (be careful to not knock the minecart out, otherwise you'll have to start over).

Once properly hidden, you can right click on the bookshelf to access the chest in the minecart, thus creating the effect of having a bookshelf with storage.

Having a totally transparent skin still wouldn't make you 'invisible' to NPC MOBs, it would only affect encounters with other players, having been an administrator over a served game looking for people who were being problematic, I certainly don't want to have to try and figure out who is hiding their identity by using a transparent skin and causing grief and who isn't. Personally, I am a proponent to having more tools in place to prevent griefing, not the creation of newer and better ways to cause grief to other players.

I would like to see a totally invisible skin. I'm sure it sounds corny, but surely it can't be terribly difficult.

Not to terribly difficult... just terribly broken in any MP/PvP game.

posted a message on A few ideas on new ores

Adding more exotic ores just to be able to add unusual new items before more common ores are added seems a bit premature, and probably will not garner a lot of popular support... there's a lot of desire to keep MC in the 'fantasy middle ages' genre... that's pre-soldering iron, pre-welder/cutter, pre-water pipes (for the most part), pre-electricity (esp over metal wire)...redstone not withstanding, and pre-flashlight/batteries/bulbs.

The Vase idea seems to be a different version of the Pot, and I'm not sure why it would need to be made of feldspar ore specifically (other than to give feldspar a use in the game) when we have other material it could be crated from.

Alternately... the range you set for Feldspar Ore seems a bit high...

    Quote from Wolfhusband»

Feldspar ore- found between 100 and 200y...

Extreme hills biomes can only go as high as y=130 max on the PC, and water level is at y=63... there is nothing between y=130 to y=255 as far as generated terrain goes for ores to spawn in.

posted a message on Customizing Controls

I support if this can be done without compromising processing/latency too much.

I'm thinking about how I would do this, and I'm having problems coming up with a way that doesn't call a switch case argument over all possible button configurations and perform an additional outside function call 60 times a second for each controller option depressed in that timeframe.

That's one advantage to the preset controller templates,is that it would avoid the extra processing between each frame update cost by having a more dynamic build list.

If it can be done without compromising processing cycles too much, then it would be awesome if it could be tied to the console player profile (instead of saved inside the game file) so that it carries over from game to game so I wouldn't have to spend time setting up custom settings each time I created a new game or joined another game.

posted a message on red stone/sticky piston issue on xbox360

Either that, or the redstone signal is looping back on the repeater locking it into an on state when it gets powered. You typically want to try to avoid repeater loops (at least until you are familiar enough with redstone to know what you are doing with them).

Any chance we can get a visual of your redstone layout? a few screen shots or some diagrams?

I've run redstone circuits hundreds of blocks in several different directions... clear across the bottom of the map and back again for testing purposes, and from surface to bedrock, so I know it can work if done properly.
