    The warded blocks are interesting. The first question that must be asked is, what is their purpose?


    If their purpose is PvP, then a whole can of worms is opened, as it stands Thaumcraft is one of the most non compliant mods to have on a multiplayer server as things like taint and flux do not (afaik) properly honor server protection plugins. So I could wander over to someones base, empty a bunch of jars next to their claimed chunks, and rely on a sweeping wave of taint to overrun their protected area.


    Most servers use a combination of rules, and server sided plugins, to prevent griefing, and Thaumcrafts warded block mechanic is, in this environment, rather weird as it fulfills no real purpose. I don't know anyone brave (stupid) enough to run a full pvp anything goes modded server.


    Which means that warded blocks really only have a PvE use - i.e. building a wither trap.


    That said, warded blocks that integrated with, and used a server sided permissions infrastructure, would potentially be interesting, but there don't appear to be standard enough APIs to make this really worth the effort.

    That is a shame. Perhaps in the future it can be reinstated. I always enjoyed trying to make 3D items but as I have stated before, it is just a bonus feature at this point.

    Names with no spaces? I am guessing /give is based on the .lang file now? I do not mind renaming the blocks but renaming the items? I cannot think of anything to replace items such as "Iron Shard" or "Trader Card" with. Although if temporary, sure.

    The names with no spaces thing does seem odd. I thought /give used a (language independent) programatic id and the translated named could be whatever.

Because I was watching Direwolf20's latest forgecraft series and Azanor was on, and Direwolf20 was having trouble with some rather trivial aspect combination iirc, and Azanor didn't know the answer. As he said "that's the problem when you don't get time to play your own mod."

    While you guys are looking at it, I think several issues need to be resolved:


    * Better scaling with vanilla easy / medium / hard.

    * GoG mobs have a bad habit of attacking traditionally neutral mobs - especially villagers. This is especially annoying as GoG mobs can spawn on lit blocks, making it impossible to cultivate actual villages.

    * GoG was spawning those creeper blob mobs in inappropriate other mod biomes / dimensions such as Thaumcrafts Outer Lands, or the normally passive biomes in Twilight Forest.


    Which is doubly confusing as GoG's mobs are tightly coupled to vanilla biomes? Or is there some kind of biome compatibility code such that GoG mobs spawn "correctly" if BiomesOPlenty or Hightlands or ExtraBiomes is being used?

    Your server is one of the non vanilla servers. kCauldron, bukkit or something like that?

    The melee damage on the staff is meant as an emergency fallback, but in early to midgame it's more than viable as main weapon. I seriously crafted the staff, because my Iron sword is about to break and I didn't wanna make another one. And just because why not I equipped the staff with grappler and shock, making it even deadlier, easily outclassing diamond.

    Not saying "staves OP pls nerf" because most people will fire them rather than swinging them anyway, but can somebody explain to me how a Staff can be on par with an iron sword?

    They're not. You can't put looting or sharpness on them.

In the case of the gaia guardians though you will need to spend a little bit of gold to make the healing flasks, but nowhere near as much as a notch apple. All of these bosses aren't godly powerful like you're making them out to be. I'm sure that if I really tried I might be able to fight some of TC's bosses without the aid of runic shielding. Although they're balanced around having the shielding so it might be a lot more difficult to do so.

    Some people are not so combat oriented and require the extra buffer.

    Do we think it is a bug, or a 'feature' that high value items cannot be smelted into essentia?

    I have a somewhat rubbish diamond chestplate, with Fire Protection II & Unbreaking III - a pretty rubbish mob drop really, but I cannot turn it into essentia :/


    Also - it seems strange to me that items can be smelted for their full value in essentia, even when heavily damaged. Surely their essentia yield should be multiplied by their damage %?

    It is either I update it at some point or somebody generous enough helps update it to 1.8.x. All I can say is that until it is up and running for 1.8.x I will not be able to work on adding content. I honestly hate updating versions as I always tend to remove content I feel would make updating impossible for me. All I can do is wait and see.



    As a software developer by trade, I'm embarrassed to admit I don't even know how to set up a modding environment. I tried once for 1.4.7, to make a mod to add a basic fishtank which worked, but took a lot of reading of how-to-mod tutorials that are way outdated now.

    Am I dim? I can't even see a 'source' download for forge on the downloads site???
