so i work in a bar in the UK. today, at the end of the night (around 10) an american couple came in, kind of drunk, and got some drinks. they sat down and had one drink each over the next couple hours.
we stop serving at 1145. at about midnight, a black man came in and asked me if we were still serving. i said no. there must have been a misunderstanding because he went up to the bar and asked for a drink anyway. my colleague said no more service.
so after this, i carry on with my end of night duties with about 10 or so people left in the place. as i was wiping down tables, the couple flagged me down. the woman asked "why did you tell that guy that you were still serving when you're closed? thats so rude, why would you do that?" (keep in mind they're american)
I thought they were joking because it didnt seem like a big deal. so i just laughed and said "yeah maybe i should get fired for that one," then i walked away.
as im turning around, the guy grabs his half full pint of beer, smashes it to the ground and says "HAVE FUN WITH THAT." my supervisor and i just looked at each other, confused. he asks "whats going on" and the lady says something to the effect of "this guy is a racist!!" with much more swearing involved. they start yelling and eventually we were just like... dudes... get out.
so i had to clean up a bunch of glass
