I installed the program but when I open any of the worlds I get the HUD and blue everywhere.
I installed stable 33 and running 34-bit Windows. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I can select stuff but I don't know what I'm selecting. Please help!
That is very unusual, perhaps you could elaborate on your problem further.
As you may know you will probably be able to trade with villagers in the future updates. Which brings up a interesting topic. Should you spawn in a village all the time?
I personally think that making you spawn in a village and making a improtant part of the game would make it feel less like Minecraft and less of a sandbox.
Who brought this up? What makes you think this would happen, are they planning this? You would either spawn at the spawn point or you would spawn where you slept last, that's is how it works now. Please provide evidence that they are changing it.
Ok, I feel like a moron...I had the previous MCEdit downloaded with no problem. Now, Anvil worlds come out, ok, that's fine. I just downloaded the newest/unstable version and can't find the run file for MCEdit anywhere in what I downloaded. Help? haha, this is probably so dumb of a question. See what I get for being sleep deprived and trying to do something.
Did you try looking at the map he posted the way he said to?
I did and I also crash with malformed NBT data and memory errors.
Every other map I've edited with the test version has worked no problem. It seems more likely it is something about the map that is different rather than the systems.
Perhaps it is time to give up the ghost on the corrupted map.
Turns out the total memory on your computer isn't the issue. Something else is going on. Thing is, I did get this level open long enough in MC Edit to select an area that had a couple hundred entities and delete them. Map now runs fine in Minecraft, but still crashes when using top down mode in MC Edit. BUT, it only crashes when trying to scroll around the whole map in top down mode. If you just stick to one area, it runs fine. Seems it hits an error when trying to load those last few chunks. It doesn't matter which ones, it's just the last few that cause a problem. Plus I don't know what all those malformed file errors are. Again, now that all those entities are gone (don't know where they came from, they were way underground in a cave I haven't been to in game yet) the map runs fine. Just MC Edit doesn't like it.
This is the error I get now

MemoryError: Out of memory. Please restart MCEdit.
Perhaps you two could pool your resources to figure out what makes your computers different from the ones that are able to run MCedit without this error.
Well, I was speaking based on my opinion. I'd rather keep my server online and be able to meet the needs of my players than have double map height. But, as I said, it's just my opinion.
These are the same complaints that happen after every game update, you can't just blame the map format which has also changed several times over the years, but there is hope. You are not forced to update your game and your server people are not forced to update their games either so you are free to remain using the version that you are comfortable with.
Okay, now when I try to lode up the level.dat folder it either says the map is empty or it says eRROR: invalid index. W...what? I've been on this map plenty of times before and we have plenty of stuff on it....why won't it load?
First of all, make a backup copy of your map before trying to edit it. Then provide us with more details. Does your map contain modded content? What version of Minecraft is your map from?

You downloaded the source. You should have clicked the link that said, "Downloads (2)" and then chosen the windows version.
