I just got a new computer, and I cannot connect to any minecraft servers with it. I rent two servers from two different hosting companies, and I can't connect to either. The server list says "Can't reach server", and I get a "Connection refused: connect" error with one and a "Connection timed out: connect" error with the other. The most obvious difference between the two that I can think of is that the first has a port number at the end of the IP and the second doesn't.
Has anyone else run into this problem? Can anyone help me? The computer is running Windows 7, but my previous computer was as well.
MagicLauncher won't update Minecraft, specifically from 1.2.3 to 1.2.4. I haven't used MagicLauncher for very long, so this is the only update I've been through with it so far.
Is there something I should do to make it update? I'm on a mac if that matters. Also, the "Force Update" button in the options window is greyed out, if that matters.
This is, without hyperbole, the finest Minecraft map I have ever seen. Hats off to you, sir/madam. I will show this to everyone I know, rest assured.
And to all the people asking what version this is, I'm pretty sure it's 1.7. That's why he doesn't sprint, and such. I can't remember exactly what tipped me off to it, but one thing was the lava. He's clearly playing on peaceful (I say this not to be derogatory, but because otherwise he couldn't survive in lava for so long). Peaceful in 1.8 and onward doesn't make your health regenerate, if I understand correctly. All it does is make your hunger regen. If he weren't playing on 1.7 (or before) peaceful, he wouldn't be able to survive for that long on fire, as the damage from fire is currently greater than the regen from full hunger. I could be wrong though. Feel free to correct me if that's the case. Also, all the "he"s I used in this paragraph are gender-neutral. It's just easier than typing he/she every time.
Point being: the creator of this map is simply a greater being than all of us mortals. Amazing.
It's because 1.8 is out. Everyone's logging on to the forums. Minecraft's really popular, if you haven't noticed. The server just can't handle all the traffic all the time.
Also, I seem to remember something where winrar doesn't show the folders, just the file paths. So it will show you all the sub folders merged into one with the only difference being that the file path will have the folder name in it. If that makes any sense. That was a terrible explanation. (On my part. No fault of anyone else. I just can't seem to phrase it the way I want to.)
Does minecraft run? If so, those folders are there somewhere. Try 7-zip maybe?
Also, CJSuttz, I would refrain from sending him any minecraft.jar . That's technically piracy and (strongly) frowned on by this forum and its moderators.
Hm. Thanks. I really should have thought of that. My search-fu is failing me. However, that does not work for macs. Has anyone found a solution that works on macs?
I haven't tried redownloading minecraft, but I've had the issue through several versions. Seeing as it re-downloads every new version, shouldn't that have the same effect?
Often, with texture packs that are above 16x (and sometimes with 16x packs), I get a white outline along the edge of some blocks. It's most visible with blocks that aren't solid all the way through, like torches, or with dark textures (like RezFX cobble). It also seems to get more pronounced with higher resolution packs.
Is this a known issue? It doesn't seem to happen to any of my friends. Is there a way to fix this?
Maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places, but I can't seem to find a "MineOS as host OS" tutorial. Does one exist?
I've burned the .iso to a CD, and I put it in my old laptop and booted from it. I did everything it told me, and I got several errors while it was searching for a partition, but the program seemed to continue. Then it told me it was generating my public/private key pair. It did that, and told me:
"Your basic firewall is now [operational]
Press enter to continue
2011-03-14 19:57:45: (log.c.166) server started
httpd: /etc/httpd/conf: No such file or directory"
I pressed enter, and got a prompt saying "tc@box:~$" .
I figure I'm supposed to enter something here, but I don't know what seeing as I don't have the tutorial.
Can someone tell me if I'm doing anything wrong and/or point me to the tutorial?
Thanks!

I will download this for sure. I can't wait until you get to mobs and other stuff.
P.S. Is the "LOL NOPE" gravel?
