posted a message on Returning player, got questions :s

    Hey there @Armanbai.

    1) Regarding your first question, Modular Powersuits has been updated to Minecraft Version 1.10.2. Aside from that, I have yet to find any really great armor short of Draconic Evolution (Redstone Arsenal adds armor, but I don't believe it to be very upgradable).

    2) As for multiplayer on servers and such, I would recommend the Twitch App. If you are looking for servers, the FTB packs are probably your best bet (The twitch app has their own section for these packs). When I want to play on a modded server I usually play on Shadownode, but I am sure there are plenty of other options out there.

    4) Redstone Arsenal adds powered tools, as does Mechanism, and several other tech mods. Actually Additions is a great tech mod that is new to the later versions of Minecraft. It adds a drill for 3 by 3 to 5 by 5 mining (or digging), along with upgrades for fortune, speed, and the like. Simply Jetpacks has also been updated to the later versions of Minecraft, and as always, Tinkers is very op for easy tools and weapons (The slime boots and slimesling allow for a very nice early game form of travel as well).

    5) Well, first off, Actually Additions (Which I mentioned in #4) for tech stuff along with Flux Networks for wireless energy transport. Extra Utilities 2, while very different from the original, is still a very fun mod (See the Rainbow Generator). Draconic Evolution is great and Deep Resonance is interesting (although I haven't used it much myself). If you like programming (fairly basic unless you get way into it) PSI is a great mod that has tons of potential. Finally, Immersive Engineering (Tech) and Industrial Foregoing (A MFR port) are also very good mods. As for agriculture, Pam's Harvestcraft and Cooking for Blockheads are great for food, and for storage, AE2 is a great tech approach to storing all your items (works great in conjunction with Storage Drawers).

These are just a few of the many great mods found on the later versions of Minecraft.

    6) I don't use the crossbow or shuriken much myself. But I find that paper or magma slime limbs produce the best draw speed on a longbow, along with a cobalt plate and lots of redstone. The Tinker's book that you spawn with provides you with all the information you should need regarding material stats and abilities, I find that just flipping through the materials section every once in a while to find the best material works for me.

That's about all I've got. I don't have a lot for you regarding eight and nine. I tend to prefer the huge tech mods (and sometimes magic) with lots to do. Just so that you are aware, Agricraft is still in alpha stages for 1.10 on, and a lot of features are not yet implemented or are bugged. Sprinklers do not yet work, and some of the mod integration has yet to be worked on. I also found that just by putting a crop in crop sticks (1/1/1), it grew significantly faster and produced more drops (as if it were leveled up). Reguarding a "less cheaty Equivilant Exchange" I have yet to find anything of this nature. Project E (A port of Equivilant Exchange 2, and the best form of Equivilant Exchange on the later versions of minecraft at this point in my opinion) does have a configuration that allows you to have some "EMC loss" (i.e. If a log has 16 EMC, "burning it" might only produce 8 or 12 EMC depending on the configuration).

    Hope this helped!

posted a message on Boss Mod

Looking for a mod (or mods) that add challenging endgame bosses to Minecraft. Specifically magic themed bosses if possible, but other types would be appreciated as well. I am looking for a boss fight that would be challenging and fun, but still possible in both solo and coop situations. Preferably this mod would not add too much other content, and the boss would not require the user to get deep into the mod to accomplish the fight.

    Thanks,

posted a message on Best mod for void protection

Looking for a mod that adds armor/items that protect from void style damage. I have a magic-themed modpack in which I want to have the Chaos Dragon from Draconic Evolution as a boss, but the boss fight is impossible without some sort of void protection. So, I am basically looking for a more magic themed alternative to draconic armor.

    Thanks,

posted a message on Looking for modpack ideas

    Hey everyone,

I am a modpack designer/creator, and I am wondering what kinds of modpacks would be specifically interesting to the Minecraft community. Kitchensink modpacks have become all too common and I think many of us desire a change of pace, but I am unsure as to what would be the best option going forward. I would love to see some feedback on general themes/ideas that might be appreciated if implemented into a modpack.

    Thanks for your consideration,

The forums and curseforge are not linked in anyway to minecraft accout login due to the fact the are owned by different companies. As you are having issues with minecraft and unrelated websites this is a computer issue not a minecraft issue. So thread moved to computer support

Alright, I thought they were unrelated, but as the issues started at the same time I thought it mention both.

posted a message on [Multiplayer] Unable to join servers

Any time I try to join a server (vanilla or otherwise), I get the error: "Failed to login: The authentication servers are currently down for maintenance." I know that this error usually goes away quickly. But I have friends who can join without problems. Also this has been an issue for three to four days. I have tried everything I know (restarting minecraft, restarting my pc, reinstalling minecraft, etc). It seems like it may be a network issue, but I am unsure on how to further identify it as most other network functions are fully functional. Also, this one may or may not be related, but I cannot sign in to the minecraft forums or curseforge on my pc due to what seems to be an authorization issue as well (I am using my phone now). I would be very greatful if someone could give me a solution to this issue.

    Thanks,

Of those listed, definitely the 1070 one, for the price, that's pretty good.

i7 7700 is not overclockable, however, and it's not as good as it's "K" (7700k) variant, which has a much higher base clock of 4.2ghz, and can overclock. If possible, I'd say look for a PC with one of those in (or a 6700k as they're basically the same, the 7700k is just stock faster, newer, and hotter)

Ram is fine, it comes with one 8gb stick, which means you can go to 16gb later easier.

GPU, well, it's a 1070. It'll definitely get the job done.

Storage, a 1tb 7200rpm drive is nice, but it's really going to be the slowest part of your machine. Now, with an ssd... boot times in the single digits (for me on an 850 EVO anyway), copy/unzip speeds in the 100mb/s, games loading so fast you never get to fully read those loading screen tips, etc. Don't have to pick one up from that configuration, but I would definitely recommend picking up a nice 250gb SSD from Sandisk or Samsung eventually and putting windows on it (something like this).

As for warranty, it's really up to you. Anything "dead-on-arrival" is covered by Newegg, and CybertronPC is pretty respectable, so I can't imagine you'd have anything die anytime soon. (And besides, if anything but the cpu, mobo, or GPU died, it'd still be cheaper for you to just replace than the 150$ warranty)

How does this one look? Idk how bad it could be with the "open box" but the specs look pretty good.

All 3 are great sellers and alright PCs, but the issue with them all is that the 1060 they come with only has 3gb of vram. That'll do MC just fine, and will probably handle shaders fine it that's your cup of tea, but it's really below the minimum for modern gaming today.

Games like BF1 would probably choke a bit with that graphics card at max settings, so you'll need to turn them down.

So, if I were to go for that second one, or a modified version thereof, would it be a good idea to go with that 3 year warranty for ~$150? As the computer itself doesn't come with a great warranty.

When are GPU prices expected to drop?

I could bump that second one up to a 6GB for $50 or to a 1070 8GB for $150. That might help.

    Edit: The first one I could get a 1060 gaming x 6GB for a total of $1180.

Are you opposed to building it? (You'll get a better price, as well as the exact parts you want. You could probably get a GTX 1070 or possibly even a 1080 for your budget, if you build)

Also, would it only be for gaming? Do you do videos or anything more intensive like that?

Lastly, do you need it to be Intel, or would something like AMD Ryzen do you well? (Trust me, they're a lot better than AMD's previous track record. I've got an r7 1700 and it screams by with anything I throw at it)

    Quote from jtpetch»

There's been a HUGE bloat in GPU prices right now, so I don't recommend purchasing one just yet (a 1070 currently costs as much as the 1080ti when it came out), but these are some other recommendations, if you don't mind AMD:

    R7 1700 (8 core/16 thread @3ghz), 16gb DDR4-3200, GTX 1060 (when prices go down, a 1070 may be possible), 1315$:

    R5 1600 (6 core/12 thread @3.2ghz), 16gb DDR4-3200, GTX 1060 (when prices go down, a 1070 may be possible), 1220$:

    https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Jtpetch/saved/6hBMpg

On both you could probably go cheaper on the case (I just went with what I got, it's a great case!)

You could also go with 8gb ram if you think that's enough (16gb is just the standard for gaming now as far as I'm concerned)

(Also @TierroPlayz, you left the ram out of your build)

I built myself a nice one and it runs Minecraft at A1.

Heres the rig if you need it:

    CPU :Intel - Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor

    Motherboard :MSI - Z170A GAMING M5 ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

Cooler :Corsair - H60 54.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

GPU :Asus - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6GB Dual Video Card

Case :Corsair - 200R ATX Mid Tower Case

    Storage :Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Power Supply :Corsair - CXM 750W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

    Around $ 1100

I'm not totally against building my own, but whenever I've looked it seems like I'd be able to get a better deal buying a pre built pc. Such as This One, or This One, I am just unfamiliar with the sellers.

Edit: I'm not sure how good Acer is, but I also found this one. And thanks for everyone's feedback so far.

I'm looking at buying a gaming pc with an i7 processor and probably a GTX 1060 graphics card... any suggestions as to where I should look for a good quality gaming pc? I'm looking for one that is about $1100. Any help would be appreciated, as well as suggestions for changes to the pc itself. Hoping to play fairly heavily modded Minecraft plus a few other games occasionally.

    Thanks,

posted a message on PowerCrystals' mods - MineFactoryReloaded, PowerCrystalsCore, and NetherOres updated! - MFR 2.7.9 released

I noticed that this mod was recently updated to 1.10.2, and am wondering if there are plans to update to 1.11.2. This is not meant to pressure the devs, I am just curious what your plans are.

posted a message on Modded Skyblock Help

I am currently working on a modpack for a modded skyblock server. But I am having trouble figuring out what the best way of handling sky island creation is. Is there a good mod for handling this? I have Botania Garden of Glass, but could not find much documentation on that. And FTB Islands seems to only allow ops to create islands. If possible I would like islands to be far apart and for players to have the option of either creating their own island or joining a friends (for which they would have to request to join). Would love it if y'all you could help!

    Thanks,
