I can already see I am going to like this mod so I want to help this mod out by building the server (Aincrad) or by coming up with ideas and suggestions (no coding as i have no idea how to do that) I also might be able to help with some item aesthetics. And an idea for how to go up each level is to either download cubic chunks to raise the sky limit or make each floor (as in SAO) surrounded by walls then use command blocks and tripwires (or some other add on mod) to teleport you to the next level. (I haven't seen the mod yet so some of these idea might have been implemented already, excuse me for that.)
There also a game called Sword Art Online Infinity Moment on psp which is a game made by the developers of SAO (i think). Anyway you can check it out or buy it and take a look at the aesthetics of the cites since the anime and manga doesn't cover it all.

We're going to stay canon to the light novel, anything not described in there will not be used in the city. We like to add our owns things to make it feel like our own mod/server.

Oh god, Tabbiner and his crew are actually making their server... It requires tekkit AND some form of mod that is using our mod name...

Anyways, here's a link to their webpage if you want to check it out :/
Watch out though, it caused my browser to crash and lost all my tabs, happened to a few of my friends as well. Website seems to be unstable.

I recommend placing that at the top of the original post. It doesn't say it anywhere there, and people might have missed your announcement post since it isn't on the most recent page anymore.

I'm going to update the main post right now.
EDIT: Cleaned up the main post a bit and added some additional info.

can you at least update it to 1.4.7

Okay, guys, STOP ASKING THIS. PLEASE.
It will not be updated for sometime. Like I said, we will be starting over from scratch and remaking the mod.
We won't be doing this for a while though. Stop asking for us to update.

Ermergerd. I started playing in Open Beta, the stress testing. The characters were wiped from that, so I got a better name than the ugly one I had. I've always played on Tarlach. Although, I was only level 250 from about G3-G9. From G9-G15, I got to 2k total, and maxed all the offensive magics and masteries besides Blaze. Never had a problem with not having enough Int, mostly because the mastery skills made up more than enough damage.

I understand why life skills are "important". But, I would rather fight for my gear than rank a skill forever just to make equips that I could have purchased from another player, or dungeoned for something just as strong. A game that makes the smithed gear vastly superior to the reward gear is a little bothersome, I'd be fine with them having a slight edge, but not an astronomical amount. Why even run the missions if you can just craft the gear and sell it for cash then? There's now no point to trying to get the loot. Achieving economical balance between the battlers and the crafters, I have never seen done on a game.

Although, SAO gave me the idea of giving the smith's bonuses for working on stronger materials. Most players on a game aren't going to feel "privileged" to work with rare ores, just going to tell the battler to shut up and dish out the ridiculous sum of cash that the battler will not have if the monetary drops have not been high enough.

Still. Crafting shouldn't be forced upon players. Crafting should be a convenience choice. Would you prefer to take time out of your busy schedule of smashing faces to learn to repair your own weapons? Or, would you rather become more proficient in smashing faces and pay another to repair your weapons?

Of course. Posting this on the minecraft boards. Ahahaha. I'm just meaning conventional MMO's. Not the "easy-peasy 100% success rate load your stuff in the squares and magic happens" crafting.

Of course crafting isn't forced upon players. It just makes some items harder to get. There will be other swords that are just as valuable and hard to get, like rewards from hard quests, rare drops from boss monsters, or event items, that have nothing to do with any sort of life skill. Crafting is a fun alternative to spend random misc items collected during your journeys.
Enchanting weapons (like adding a +1,2,3, etc) will also be a separate skill from crafting. Leveling it up just increases your success rate and lowers destruction rate. But there will also be items called scrolls (like from maplestory/mabinogi) that allow players to enchant bonuses onto their weapons. There will not be a skill associated with this, and they will only be able to be found from mob drops, dungeon loot, or bought from another player.
Life skills are alternatives to having to go out and kill mobs. Some players want to be a little more peaceful. Of course at first everyone will have to slay a couple baddies to get the standard components, but at some point there should be players that can get the high tier gear only obtainable through crafting and those that get the high tier gear only available through rare boss drops.
    Get what I mean now?

Well you should update this mod to 1.4.7 :)

The code is so outdated, we'd rather start from scratch then update it. If we do, you guys wont be seeing anything for a while.

Made an account just to post on this thread. XD

I really love the idea, but until either the full mod comes out, it doesn't use modloader, or it's updated to MC 1.4.7, I'll just continue to creep in the thread. Also not going to post a block of suggestions. I think that would be rather annoying.

I understand not knowing the code. Failed Java in High School, the only class or computer class I ever failed.

    Two quick thoughts:

    1. SAO references NPCs in the series, although I don't remember seeing any in particular. Do you think you might add NPC Smiths and Chefs and such? Because I really, really, really hate "life skills" in games. Rather just buy my crap from a vendor, then go adventuring.

    2. I noticed you said 5 worlds = 5 floors. All these will be on one server, correct? What if your server contained floor 1-5, then someone else's contained 6-10, and another contained 11-15? Each server could have a password, and the only way to get to the next server would be to complete the final dungeon of the previous server to find the password.

Just mah brain spewing thoughts out. Really like the idea of the mod, keep up the good work.

First of all, I love you for playing Mabinogi. I'm on Mari, and don't play much anymore, but its easily one of the best MMOs out there. I've been playing since beta.
Life skills are essential. You should know this. Go make potions to raise your int or do some weaving to get bonus dex, or even woodcutting for more strength. That's what those are there for in Mabi. It also makes it harder to get rare items, which then sell for more. We will be adding life skills (crafting, cooking, etc). Its part of the fun. And minecraft.
Secondly, 5 floors on 1 world is not possible. Seeing as each floor has a max of 256 (if I remember correctly) block height, each floor would be squished in, and no room for each tower dungeon.

I'm glad to see more posts here again :D
Makes me happy to see people still care <3
Also, if you read my latest post, we haven't abandoned the project, we're merely on hiatus. We may pick the project back up over the summer or officially cancel it. If we cancel it, its most likely because we're moving on to another mod we may have in the works.
The mod was very small and wasn't really much to begin with. If the project had grown more over the time it was in active development, we wouldn't think of dropping it. Sadly, the server that we were collaborating with decided to muck up and ruin it all. Without all the work from the world we were going to use, we grew distant from the project.
Thanks for your concern, but I can't say it will be back :c
If we can get more coders (1 or 2) then yes, by all means we will start up the project again.

    Also, Mordeth, thanks for being so helpful ;w;
I just want to +rep everything you post here xD

Ghosty werent you going to make a server at one time?

No, I was making the mod for the server. The people making the server really messed up, so we left. We couldn't handle constant updates for the mod (because of school), so we're on hiatus.

He is active on skype. As of now, I'm going to ask him if someone or perhaps myself can replace tabbiner, because he isn't doing a very good job of being the spokesman and accepting people. Might not be accepted, though.
I also have some information for you guys about the SAO server, but not sure if chris wants me to tell it to the public. Stay touched.

Just so you know, Tabbiner, Sword_Arts_Online_Plus, and the rest are all the same people. He made multiple accounts.

    Nice to hear that!
Also, we aren't that skilled at coding...most of the mod was based off of code templates easily found on the web, that's why this mod was kept so minimal. Catching up with us wouldn't be to hard.
We will most likely start development again soon, and we'll contact you if we need any help. I'll probably start writing up a new design plan and share some things with you guys, in this thread.

Well guys, gonna start talking about this a little more. We're becomming more adept at java and nearing a point where we might pick back up. If anyone wants to join in or do anything to help, we're open to suggestions. One thing though: We will not, I repeat, not be collaborating with anyone.
What I mean is, if you want to help, you're part of the team. You listen to how we want to run things. If you make the map, don't leak it or use it for your own purposes, and remember, you're part of the team. You should still listen to how we want to run things. I may sound like an arrogant jerk for being this way, but we had issues with the last server we collaborated with, which ultimately ended in the downfall of this mod.
If we pick this back up, expect releases to start coming out around summer break. We may work on things in secret until then. If we do happen to pick this back up, we will make sure you're all aware.
One last thing, if you do happen to want to help, be dedicated. We had a coder who was going to provided custom animations and health/stamina GUI, but he got bored with Minecraft and quit. I don't want to lose any more good members like that.

With that said, how've you guys been doing? I've been getting sooo many messages about how I need to start this up again and how people want to help me do so. I just want you guys to know, I'm not dead and I am listening. :3
Glad to see a regular like Mordeth was still posting. How've you been man?

    Cheers,
