I think this is the second time you asked why I wanted a refund, Bob. I wanted a refund because I did not want to have to replace a 2,000 dollar gaming PC or expensive components inside.

Minecraft overheated my GPU to the point where I had to shut it down to cool it off. I have never seen any other game that I have played on this PC push my GPU as high as Minecraft does.

    Age of Conan
    Battlefield Bad Company 2
    Guild Wars
    Civilization 4 and now 5
World of Warcraft ( quit this game last week, but still )

All those games never pushed my GPU higher then 60C. Minecraft pushed my GPU between 85C and 90C. I will not risk my PC when Minecraft is pushing those kind of temperatures. As I said before, I was unhappy with the product and that is why, so please stop asking me why I wanted a refund.

I don't think I am complaining, Sky. I am chatting with people who keep replying to my post. No one is forcing you to keep reading this post. If you don't like it, I am sure you can keep yourself from clicking on the link. /shrug

On another note, I don't think I would have gotten my refund if I did not file a dispute with Paypal. It's funny, because the same day I filed a dispute, a couple hours later I received an e-mail asking if I still wanted a refund.

That's weird. I've seen numerous people apply for refunds and get them within a couple of days. Perhaps karma had a bone to pick with you, know what I mean?

I don't believe in karma, sorry.

Regardless how a business feels about the customer. When they offer a refund for any reason, they have to honor that commitment.

HOW DARE YOU ASK NOTCH TO HONOR HIS OWN AGREEMENT.

Jesus ****ing christ you people, the guy's making what, like a million dollars every couple of months at least? I'm pretty sure he doesn't need all of you rushing to defend him in the most asinine fashion possible.

That is to be expected when you post this kind of issue on these forums, all the fan boys will jump all over you.

After 30 days since I requested my refund, I finally got a Paypal e-mail confirming that I received a refund. Just wanted to update those who were interested in this topic.

    Here is a small update.

I e-mailed http://www.minecraft.net/support/ and a few hours later I received a response telling me that he will get to my refund as soon as he can. Still no refund yet, but at least I got a response.

Yes, I still follow this thread once in awhile since my last post. I just have not made any new posts, until now, because everything has been said that I wanted to say.

On that note here is an update: I am still waiting for my refund after 16 days since I requested it.

Can I do better in coding a game? No, because I have no idea how to code a game. Congratulations to him that he is doing something that he wants to do in life.

Can I do better in customer service? Yes, I can do much better in customer service then what he is doing right now.

He should have expected, or at least planned ahead of time for the increased popularity. Whether it would have happened or not, at least he would have been better prepared.

Maybe you should have planned ahead and not bought the game, at least you would have been better prepared.

All I have to say to this reply is: lol

He isn't able to access his paypal account, he has to go through thousands of e-mails, has to work on minecraft, has to HAVE A LIFE, has to work on his new company....

    Need me to go on?

When he decided to sell his product to thousands of people, he should have realized that he will get thousands of e-mails regarding technical and payment issues. Clearly if it is too much work for him, he should ask someone he trusts to work the e-mails. It is simple as that, it makes the customer not feel like they are being ignored and it will get refunds out on a timely manner.

You can sugar coat it and make any excuse you want for him, but the fact is this is very horrible customer service. In my own opinion, customer service is top priority for any business.

You get hundreds, he gets thousands. Theres a big difference.

Next, unless you are some little kid with no job, 13 dollars is nothing. I could make that amount of money in a few mins if I wanted.

Notch has a lot going on. Give him time.

I have given him over a week so far. Please stop telling me "Oh it is just 13 dollars, it is no big deal" It is my money and there for IT IS a big deal to me. If this was happening to you, I am very sure that you will be upset just like I am.

I highly doubt that you, as a 15 year old, are getting 35 dollars an hour at your job. Please tell us what company or who you are working for? I also doubt that I will be IP banned from the website and even if I was, it would not hurt my feelings as long as I got my refund.

I have every right to be upset about this issue. No matter how much money we are talking about, it is still my hard earned money. You would be pissed off just like I am if you requested a refund for a product that you were unhappy with and the company is ignoring your request.

I have dealt with big companies and small companies when it comes to refunds. Sometimes I have received a refund instantly, other times they actually responded to my request and told me how many business days it would take before I saw my refund. You know the difference between them and what the Minecraft owner is doing? They at least respond to the refund request in a timely manner, instead of making you think that you are being ignored.

Oh, and his Paypal account is not suspended. They put a limit on how much money he can have, that is a HUGE difference. He can still easily fulfill refund requests.

    1. Notch is NOT a company. He is ONE MAN. He does NOT have an automated service or an army of customer service employees to answer to your neediness. He must go through all of his emails BY HIMSELF.

    2. What problems are you having that you need a refund? If your problem is software related, we can probably help you. If it is financially related, see below.

    3. If your 'hard-earned" $13 USD means so much to you, why did you buy the game in the first place?

    And finally:
    4. Who made you so high and mighty? What makes your request more important than the next man's? There IS a wait, so be quiet and wait in line.

I receive hundreds of e-mails each week, it does not take me more then 5 minutes to look through them all and decide which ones are junk and which ones are important. Hell, he even asked people to put the topic of the e-mail as REFUND so he can find it easier. He does not need an army of people to look through his payment e-mails. Ask a friend or family member, simply as that. It is very obvious that he is not reading his e-mails, otherwise I would not be in this situation and I would have received a refund by now. You can't make a e-mail and then tell everyone who has payment issues or refund requests to send you concerns to said e-mail and then not check that e-mail. He should be checking it daily, it is part of his responsibility when he decided to start his own little business selling this game to thousands of people.

It is not all about me. Do you think I am the only soul that has purchased this and then asked for a refund? No, there are probably countless others who asked for a refund and are in the same boat as I am. I just happen to be the one making is publicly known that there is very poor customer service and letting people know I have yet to receive any replies to the refund request I sent to him, oh and still no refund.

The reason I picked up this game is because a friend said I may like the full version. I took his word, played the full version for awhile and what do you know, turns out that I am unhappy with what I bought. I am glad that you like to throw money away, I guess not everyone is as rich as you are.

I have talked directly with a Paypal employee. They agree with me and suggested I wait a few mores days for him to give the refund, then they told me my next step would be to dispute it through Paypal. That is exactly what I will be doing.

It has been 11 days in total since I asked for the refund, I asked for the refund on the 30th of last month.

As I said in my previous post, he should have thought about customer service before he offered his game for sale. There is no excuse for this poor customer service, no matter where they may live. Ask a friend or family member to work the e-mails and offer them a little pay here and there for their hard work if he is short manpower. It is simple as that.

You defend him because you have had no issues to this date, but put yourself in my shoes, or someone else shoes who are going through a similar issue. When someone who is selling a product to thousands of people and then decides "Oh I am going to take a break" knowing he has no one to man his customer service while he is on break, that is a huge deal.
