I'd go through my normal daily routine until such time as my routine changed slightly by the event of my unexpected death.
Most conventions tend to suck anyway, let alone one that's specifically for one game, not for a genre (gaming convention, rpg convention anime convention etc).
If this is the average person who wants to go to the con - people whining on forums about how it is unfair that Mojang picked a desirable venue that just happens to be far away from where they live - I am glad I'm not going.
I like to make popcorn on the stove in a big metal bowl. I put the seeds, oil and salt right in, I use garlic salt. Then cover it with tin foil and poke some holes in the top of it to let the steam out. Turn the heat on, shake it to make sure the heat is evenly distributed and the unpopped seeds get down to the bottom where the heat is highest and it's done in just a few minutes. Let the bowl itself cool and you have a serving method that's the same as how you cooked it.
This is so open ended that I very highly doubt any serious builders are going to be interested in working with (read:for) you.
You're asking for people to dedicate their time and effort to give you custom works of art for little to no incentive and you're also not being terribly specific on what you mean by 'great.' I can build a great 1x1x1 cobblestone box. I'm the very best in the whole world at it. Everyone is great in their own mind, but what are you going for? Realistic? Surreal? Castles? Giant structures? Things that are in real like that are redone in minecraft?

It might have helped your cause to include images of the weapons in question, if you can in fact model them. At least concept art and some idea of what they are expected to do.
I liken internet trolls to germs and bacteria and your ability to not let them get under your skin to having a sort of immune system.
The internet needs trolls on it, for without them, people would have nothing to make them have thicker skin and better able to take a joke directed at them. All water under the bridge, really. Plus I love reading some of the goofy things they post on youtube to see just who is gullible enough to fall for it. There's a saying "Fool me once, shame on you; Fool me twice, shame on me."
If you get trolled once, ok. Get over it and learn from the experience, get trolled again by either the same person or under the same circumstances and people tend not to feel as bad for you.
I'm not talking about cyberbullying or the like either, I'm just talking about people making non-specific dumb comments. You laugh, they laugh - you get mad and argue with them, they laugh even harder.
