You can already just swap out minecraft .jars. Whenever a snapshot comes out I make a new folder named "snap" in the bin folder, and then just flipflop the files if I want to play online or test out the snapshot.
Also, you don't have to use the snapshots. They're just to test new features.
I was thinking about judging location without F3, and thought about stars. But the stars are locked on one axis...
Since one axis is timed, could the other be linked to the player's Z coordinate? The further north the player goes, the further south the sun should go. You could tell location a little better. The value would have to be made in really small increments though, since MC worlds are so huge.
Another cool effect would be in extreme distances there would be eternal day/night cycles.
Not sure how lighting timing would work in those extreme distances. Is daylight in minecraft based on time or sun location? Also, I don't know how this would work in multiplayer... I don't know if the sky's are user independent.
I had THE MOST epic moment, I had 25 people online on my server and we also decided to go to the end. Like you guys, this was not to defeat the boss, but to have an epic battle of the champions and immortals until one side died of starvation at their computers. We all had protection IV diamond armor, and fought with our bare fists.
The dragon flew past and destroyed everything, it was easily ignored but seemed more of a annoyance while fighting against gods.
I'm one of those people who only the blue stars in the ender goo. I've heard of this happening to a couple other people and it doesn't seem like anyone knows why. I've tried changing graphics settings, installing new drivers, everything.
I beat the enderdragon out of boredom on creative and noticed something odd when the egg portal showed up.
That weird artifact near the top of the screen? It's the rest of the particles! They stay at the same perspective as the portal, but they don't really move right. They also unload when I move too far away from the portal.
I've completely dumped minecraft and reinstalled three times and it's still the same. What's going on here?
This happened to me on my first ever minecraft world. I spend hours searching aimlessly with no hope.
The only thing that got me past it was using MCEdit. I just looked at the nether and figured out where the nearest cave was. It was like 400 blocks away and I was in a little hole in a solid chunk of nether.
I remember seeing a picture on the front page for one of the updates, it said "secrete things" or something and had Steve in the air with cloud particles out from behind him. At first I thought it was flying in creative, but that wasn't secrete.

How'd I hear of super-earth? looking for neat servers.
if I'm remembering right, there's a long list of things mojang wanted to add after the modding api (which was resource packs) They've stated several times that mods would be their own thing and mojang would always continue to develop their own game however they wanted, just like the kids can make whichever mods they want to for mojangs game

If not? I dunno.

When a sign is just far away enough to not be able to read it, so you try to zoom in.

Neither positive or negative input. Null post? Why bother posting?
Again, the rotation would have to be REALLY slow. It would be just enough to sort of tell where you are in the minecraft world.

That was my idea.

I've been on this hunt for ages. These games are the only things like them that are worth playing >:
