I agree the F5 functionality shouldn't be removed. If mapmakers want to keep a perspective, they can use a repeating command block, or there could just be a command to lock the player's perspective.

I think the best way both could be kept would be a gamerule that prevents F5 from working when it is enabled, now that I think about it.

I Support all of this except for removing F5 functionality. There's no reason to force players to use a command and instead the command should just be an option for those with cheats on.

Presumably it would be one of the few commands that would be usable in a default world with no cheats. Linking it to a clientside key would also limit what a map maker or plugin maker could do with it, and would be beneficial for games or maps where the maker does not want the player to use another perspective, since it could potentially be used to cheat.

Sorry in advance for not being able to format this as best as I would like, due to the mobile version of the forums not having any format options. I'll try to fix it later when I can get to my computer.

Firstoff, my idea is to update and change how the Second and Third Person viewing options function to make it much easier for map makers and people like that to make unique mini games with un-precedented perspectives that were previously difficult to do. I'll split the ideas into a couple main sections.

1: Remove the perspective changing button (F5) functionality when a new gamerule is implemented. This would be accompanied by the command /perspective, so as to make it easier for mapmakers to set the players perspective for them, rather than have them cycle through various viewpoints, and makes it easier to implement more viewpoints.

2: The current 3 perspectives would remain unchanged, being accessed by typing "/perspective first" for first person, "/perspective second" for when you are facing yourself, and "/perspective third" for when you

    are behind your own head.

3: A tag would be available for the perspective command that would allow the player to set the maximum distance of the camera from the player with no obstructions, for example, to have a third person perspective that is 10 meters away from the player, you would type, "/perspective third @p (Distance:10)"

4: A new perspective called "Fixed" would be added, which stays a certain distance from the player, but does not turn with their head. In this perspective, it is possible to face away, towards, or sideways in comparison to the camera. The angle would also be able to be set in comparison to the player, with the same type of system that an armor stand uses to rotate it's head, and then extending out from the players head with the defined distance. Controls in this perspective would be slightly modified, where W moves away from the camera, A moves toward the camera, S toward the left side of the screen, and D toward the right side. The Crosshair would also be free moving, similar to how it functions when your are in your inventory, allowing you to point and click within your range of placing blocks, so it isn't so difficult to interact with things while using this. You would still need to have the same direct line of sight with the block as you would in first person perspective, of course.

    5: There would be a tag for the "Fixed" perspective called "locked" which would stop the camera from following the player around, keeping the camera angled from either the players current location, a specified coordinate or an armorstand. A command using these tags to specify a locked, fixed camera angle of the coordinates 0, 0, 0, would be written, "/perspective fixed locked 0 0 0 {Angle:[0f 0f 0f]}

6: There would be another perspective called "Cinematic" which would have a similar control scheme to fixed, but the camera slowly follows the player around, in a similar way to the current cinematic effect which is turned off by default currently, and used to be enabled by pressing F8. The camera tries to position itself behind the player like the third person perspective by default, but lags a little bit behind (Not the bad kind of lag, if that's what you are thinking)

7: A tag called "track" would be added for the "Cinematic" perspective to follow the player, while following a "rail" between two or more set points. An example of the camera using cinematic to follow a player going along the positive X coordinate for 10 blocks would be "/perspective cinematic track @p {p1:[0 0 0]p2:[10 0 0]} The camera would try to follow the player, but cannot go off of the "track" between the points.

8: When using a perspective, barriers would not obstruct the view of any perspectives and can have the camera look through it to the other side without being moved closer to the player like it does with other blocks.

TL;DR: Allow F5 to be disabled, and add a suite of commands under the name "/perspective" and add a few new ways to manipulate the camera and the player individually.

Comments would be appreciated, both positive and negative. On both sides, please try to be constructive, and say what parts are good about it and what parts could be improved.

    Thanks!

    Quote from Petra_109»

To what I've heard, You have to take the dye you want it to be, and right-click it while crouching. There are lots of new patterns. You can use all of the dye colors. You can also take a white bed, and craft it with the color you want it to be.

Sorry If this doesn't help. :P

The only ways to dye beds are to either craft the bed with the matching colored wool blocks, or to dye a white bed in the crafting table. There is no functionality to dye it while sneaking.

I think it should be more like recipes for unobtainable items, like a chain armor recipe, stone slab blocks, and 6 faced log bark blocks.

I doubt it. The only one I would considered surprising is it's mimicking of an adult zombie, since it sounds very similar to a baby zombie. All others are noticeably higher pitched.

I was in creative when I wrecked it. I can't find the portal block in creatuve

You can't find it in the creative menu, you have to spawn it with a command. Otherwise, you could just fly in creative in one direction and you'll get there eventually.

I would say Support because It seems like it could be interesting for mapmakers and, like Cerroz said, even in vanilla Minecraft.
