posted a message on Massive server lag?
Check your download AND upload speeds, the game needs a pretty good upload speed. Also expect a 30~ish second burst of massive lag when logging in/respawning from death etc.

posted a message on Extremely poor performance (Sub 1FPS) after few hours of play
As mentioned, it affects playing the world both offline and online. Playing offline removes the Server as a constant.

posted a message on Extremely poor performance (Sub 1FPS) after few hours of play
Hi, we've been playing on this world for a couple hours on and off over the past 2 weeks and suddenly today we started experiencing a crippling performance issue when playing on the world, the issue affects playing this particular world both online and offline. New worlds created, don't suffer this problem.

What can be done to resolve this problem? Can people here help confirm the problem? Me and my friend both have very similar computer configurations and we strongly doubt the problem is caused by a change in our computer configuration.

I am not 100% certain it is world corruption as the world can be played on still, at less then 1 FPS.

    Me:
    Intel i7 920 @2.66GHZ
    ASUS P6T Motherboard
    6GB 1600MHZ DDR3 RAM
    Nvidia Geforce 250GTS 1GB
    Tons of free HDD space

    Friend:
    Intel i7 920 @2.66GHZ
    ASUS P6T Motherboard
    6GB 1600MHZ DDR3 RAM (Different brand)
Nvidia Geforce 285GTS 896MB* (*Or whatever it is)
    Tons of free HDD space

posted a message on Enderman Is Sabotage!
    Quote from RedRainn

I read that endermen get hurt by water, but some of the blocks removed were at the bottom of a channel... I can't keep them away because there is darkness in my trap. As to the ceiling not being over 2 blocks, I read that having more space increases spawning. Maybe you know otherwise. If that works the same, I could go through the hassle of adding 600 dirt blocks to every ceiling in my trap, although that won't be much fun, especially since I won't be able to get TNT from my trap anymore and will have to dig 600 dirt blocks by hand.

Survival is fine, but if the game was only about surviving, it'd be boring. You could just dig a hole in the dirt and hide at night, then stay there forever and you'd survive. I doubt anyone plays the game for just that. You're right.

Instead of ADDING blocks, move the existing ones to make more compact rooms, that way you stop Enderman as well as have more rooms within the same space as before. Also has it actually been confirmed that Enderman move player placed blocks? Versions of the game prior to v1.8 very likely did not keep track of what blocks a player moved so anything moved by the player before updating won't be recognized as moved by the player until they player digs up the block and places it again.

I was using the one for version 1.6.6. He might have fixed it for the 1.7 compatible releases of his mod.

    ZanMinimap 0.10.0
    Minecraft beta 1.6.6

    download 0.10.0: http://adf.ly/1fn5N
see bottom of post "Old versions" for non-adfly link \o/

MamiyaOtaru's code that does something is now included. But it doesn't seem to work because I didn't merge it right or something. will fix later.

Note that it now includes an optional speedup. In SSP this speedup will cause world corruption, but it is not enabled by default so your worlds will be safe. To enable it, go to the menu (press M) and enable threading. May also cause local world corruption on smp, to fix if it occurs simply relog (will not affect the server).

Old textures from before I became maintainer: http://bit.ly/gHKZO3

This says it is version 0.10.0, the downloaded ZIP file says v0.10.0 yet the Welcome message when using the mod says v0.9.8. Why?
