posted a message on Notpron: Apparently one of the hardest online riddles ever made...
Oh man, I love notpron. The first time I saw it, I was like 8 or 9. I think I eventually got up to level 18 or something. Lack of computer knowledge killed me back then.

I'll go try this one out again tomorrow.
    Quote from Breadlord

It could be the most masterful riddle ever written or it could be the random drivel scrawled on a napkin by a madman. Both would be "hard to solve" but does that make them good?

Seriously dude, it's an incredibly creative adventure. It's one of my most favorite logic puzzles.

I don't understand that hate against him. I mean, I dislike his music and all, but I don't get why people would go as far as to make death threats and baseless accussations of homophobia. Sure, his fans are a bit of a work to deal with, but that doesn't justify all this extreme dislike for a guy who just wants to make music.

I'd also love to inquire about that. I'm definitely in no part of the decision process here, but spring break is coming up in two weeks, and it's an ideal time for the Games to occur.

Alright the book is now scrapped. You can look at it here at the remains. If you feel as if you want to continue it. Be my guest, BUT you must leave credit for me.

You saw the problems with it and I know. This progress note is scrapped now. So don't worry about it. I was thinking of making my own language though to tell you the truth. Or in this case. Editing the English words.

My post definitely wasn't meant to hinder you from ever writing again. That's the last thing I would ever wish to do on somebody. Don't take my post as a pile of crap telling you what you can't do. Use it for inspiration; try to create something out of it. Believe me when I say just a year ago I was writing horrific short stories that would have made Shakespeare roll over in his grave. Stephen King does a thousand words a day, everyday. Although you don't need to do that much writing, give yourself a routine of at least 300-500, and keep at it. Practice makes perfect.

    Quote from Spires

You appear to know quite a bit about movies, do you happen to know of any good ones in the style of Blade Runner?

Oh man, definitely. Movies are my life. Saying that, I'm still kicking myself for not yet taking up any Ridley Scott films. I'm sorry. It's really high up there on my to-do list for Spring Break though, along with Apocalypse Now, Donnie Darko, and Casablanca.

Although, if you're looking for Sci-fi dramas and thrillers, you can't go wrong with The Fifth Element (It has Commissioner Gordon in it!) or a classic like 2001: A Space Odyssey (Stanley Kubrick!).

    Zombies:
Night of the Living Dead (the original 1968 version)

    Guns:
A general description, but here's some of my favorites:
    The Godfather
    The Godfather: Part II
    The Matrix
The Silence of the Lambs (I think? It's been awhile)
    The Usual Suspects
    Se7en
    Forrest Gump
    Inception
    Memento

Well, I needed to stop somewhere. But really, watch these, if only for finding out who Kesyer Soze is.

    Cars:
    Drive

    Black people with guns:
    Pulp Fiction(seriously, watch this movie)

    Misc:
50/50(it's what I consider to be the best movie of 2011)
The Artist(if you're not seeing this just because it's a silent film, then kick yourself in the crotch for me and go see this, preferrably in the movies)
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World(my favorite movie of all time, and it's not changing anytime soon)

    That's about it for now.

posted a message on So i wrote a book in progress i guess. (Read it here!)
    Awesome!

First of all, I noticed the length. Yeah, this will never fit in a book. I don't doubt that a single page could even contain all of these chapters. Flesh them out. You're not writing a book right now; you're doing an outline with dialogue. Typical young adult novels go around 50k words. Set yourself a goal each week, maybe 1666 words per day a la NaNoWriMo to get up to 30k by the end of the month. Even if it's not about your current project or any project at all, it's still advisable to write as much as you can everyday.

    Now on to the criticism:
    Quote from Guero Ninja

It was late before sunrise when I finally woke up.

What? How does that work? You're starting to confuse me on the first sentence.

    Quote from Guero Ninja

Little did I know that the people who woke me up where my 2 best friends. ''You should have made a alarm clock James.'' Emill sneered with satisfaction, he loved to make cheesy jokes like that.

Punctuation problems, word usage problems and awkward phrasing. I honestly don't know how to explain this any better short of rewriting it, so my suggestion is to read everything you just wrote and start it over.

    Quote from Guero Ninja

''Hey don't make fun of him like that Emill!'' Ura laughing as well. Together we went over to the famous old art museum, only to find what we loved most still crunched to a pulp.

Whoa, what? That's a pretty big ****ing leap from waking up to suddenly arriving at some ruined art museum. Try to ease the reader in instead of hopping from one place onto the other.

The other problem is that you didn't even explain what made them "love" this old building so much. It doesn't create a connection for the reader. To us, it's just a bunch of ruins that the characters find interesting for an unknown reason.

    Quote from Guero Ninja

''Look, not to be mean or anything, but i don't think we should keep moping at this thing! It's been destroyed for 1000 years, but anything else could of happen besides the stupid Reptation Tournament.''

Check your capitalization. Also, that whole sentence in incoherent. It took me a few tries to begin to understand it. I suggest revision.

    Quote from Guero Ninja

I say, I've always hated the stupid Reptation Tournament. They put names of innocent little kids onto the stupid drawing box, then they just pull there the name out each time. But guess what, when your name get's pulled out, It ain't no dream vacation. You kill each other off.

Seriously dude, fix your grammar. I'm not buying your "making up my own language" ******** you're trying to pull off. First of all, you're still using English, except you're breaking a lot of the universally set rules in the language. Secondly, making up a language is a tricky literary device for use: it can either go as a flashing success or a laughable mistake, and this unfortunately falls into the latter category. Unless you're about to pull a magic trick on me, I highly suggest not implementing it.

    I think I'll stop here.

Really, if you're having trouble with spelling, punctuation, or grammar, type it out on MS word first. The red and green lines below the words are there for a reason. Along with that, read read read. Young adult novels are generally easy to read and are imaginative enough for entertainment. I reccommend those such as Animorphs and Ender's Game since it seems like you've read The Hunger Games already, with you basically copying off their whole ****ing plot. Oh yeah, my last and most important suggestion: BE ORIGINAL.

    Quote from histfanatic

Actually, alliances and friendships evolve over time. If people can talk and "buddy-up" before the games, then their alliance will be that much stronger when the game starts. IE: If people start talking and discussing a year before the game, obviously people will have time (and shall) to make alliances and enemies. Meaning, when the game starts, it will already be similar to a 2 sided war (TeamA v TeamB). Then, after the initial conflict, the two alliances would be so strong and unwavering (since they are familiar and trust eachother quite well already. Whereas if people cannot talk until the games officially start, they wouldnt have time to make said alliances and enemies and thus the beginning will be a free-for-all (and throughout the games the alliances would be less trusting and more cautious since the people are not familiar with eachother even near as much). I hope Im making sense with this (currently reading Heiddegger so I dont want to think much right now :P ) and if anyone wants clarification, please let me know. It's basic group communications, though (a good exercise is thinking of friends: are you more comfortable with someone you have known for your entire life or someone you just met on the street 5 seconds ago?).

You're using a hyperbolic example for your argument, which really cannot be taken seriously* here. It's ludicrous to think that year-long alliances would come to fruition. At most, there will be a one-two week abeyance before the Games actually start. Even then, I doubt that many are even interested in alliances, although that's an admittedly baseless assumption in my part.

    Quote from histfanatic

Now with this, as a diplomacy and mafia player, I advocate against setting up a list and keeping the contestants known as little to eachother as possible (just notify someone if they're in or out and dont tell them who else is in... let them find out when stepping off the cornucopia). This should make a more chaotic game with much more backstabbing and deceit since everyone will not be able to trust eachother because they dont know eachother. However, perhaps let each person know who else is from their district shortly before the game starts so that they have at least someone to help them through the initial conflict (this should make it more enjoyable for the contestants since they will not feel completely isolated as well as keep the entertainment and balance of the game). Thoughts?

Seeing as districts are not even a certain feature of the server, I'll refrain from including it in plans.

My main criticism of your proposal is that it completely eliminates alliances, which is a respectably sizable feature in the books. You can't expect to form trusted companionships in the span of around five minutes in where they first get to see each other. People aren't going to stop by and chat in the middle of rushing to the Cornucopia whilst fending off other tributes.

I guess the best compromise that I can think of is to include the interview sessions, trainings, and all of the other features the books contained in where tributes had a chance to communicate with each other and see each other out. The major drawback of that proposition is it requires intensive preparation and organization between the staff and the selected tributes.

*I apologize for the crude wording. It's genuinely not meant to be perjorative, although it may be incorrectly considered that way in a different perspective.

Looks like I hit a nerve.

I simply asked for your age since I was genuinely interested. You're being highly presumptuous with my motives here. I just thought that an age limit is laughably superfluous since age can be easily fabricated over the internet. But I digress.

Now are we going to be whitelisted or not?
