oh those where good times lol. /indev/ also had map types like floating and paradise which was awesome. i kinda miss huge floods in my mines it made water an actually danger. like it should be.

ya it sucks compared to what we have now but then it was absolutely awesome. i remember crafting being put in. it was awesome. i still have a few awesome castles built in /indev/ and i love them.

so, if they fall of a cliff and take fall damage, would a creeper explode in order to hurt the ground that hurt him?

    interesting possibilities.

It wasn't really the grounds fault, if this happened to a smart creeper he would understand that he has to blame gravity for pulling him down to the ground and therefore blowing up gravity causing everything to float up into space.

So the creeper would build a base and start a mining operation in order to get to the core of the minecraft world. That is where he must detonate.

that would be true. but one creeper is not nearly powerful enough to blow up the core. he would need to raise a creeper army.

This is exactly why I don't like night. I'm being serious here. I really wish survival was like the very early version of survival. Anyone remember that? It was where mobs spawned in large groups during the day :biggrin.gif: I really enjoyed that. I personally like fighting mobs during the day, not the night. I'm too much of a wuss to fight at night because (well obviously) I can't see very well. But during the day, I wish it would be like hell. Just mobs everywhere during the day, with me fighting em all at once! :biggrin.gif:

now that i think about it that was really fun. a simpler time. i remember them not having path finding to and would walk straight into my traps... good times.

anyway iv never had this problem. my bases are not necessarily the best lit and iv never had a single aggressive mob pop up in my base. ya the pigs and sheep are kinda annoying but at the same time easy resources. i think making them only spawn on grass or close other sheep/pigs would be a logical way to fix this problem.

i think slimes should not necessarily drop any unique item but instead absorb any item it runs over on the ground. so when you kill it it drops those. it could actively seek them out when its not chasing you. im also hoping they cant climb upside down for aforementioned reason.

posted a message on Complete comparison between Indev and Infdev?
i play indev mostly for caves. dont like having to strip mine. its just not much fun. water physics i dont care all that much about. caves man i neeeeed caves. fun to explore and are half the game in itself. once those are in infdev il probably switch unless i find something else that really turns me off infdev

posted a message on What will happen when[Edit: you die on Survival Mulitplayer]
    Quote from bane23 »
I was thinking about this the other day

Death in survival - end of game...gameplay is very tense and each building is a real feat. But losing can be so painfull as well

Death in indev and infdec.... an inconvience (due to save or respawn) less sense of accompliment.

Possible compromise....death in infdev MP means you are locked out of that server for X amount of time (3 hours perhaps)....you dont lose anything but the penalty is steep enough to make gameplay tense....note that dying on one MP server doesnt stop you logging into another MP sever.

iv been saying this for a while. so i agree completely.

but ya i must agree that necromancy would be a bad idea. i see why it could be fun but i dont think it would work out very well for previously mentioned reasons.

I would really prefer a giant server with hundreds of players. Because really, theres no point in having an infinite map for 15 people.

Infinite + 15players = single player with chat.
    Infinite + 200players = actual multiplayer.

I want to have to travel for 2 game days between cities. Not have my little fortress be the only thing in the universe.

That's the thing about some of the clans I see trying to form around here. Where will your clan exist? On it's own server by itself? Will you log onto other peoples servers for the sole purpose of wrecking them? I mean, It's not really a raid if you aren't living there too, if you are beyond non-admin revenge. If there aren't a few super giant servers for hundreds of people to gather on, PvP will consist of server-to-server griefing.

this is basically my logic as well

Maps are an interesting idea. Someone could be a mapmaker and explore, making the map, marking landmarks et cetera. Though, I'd rather just Survive with friends or survive amongst enemies.

They're should only be Global Chat for the controller of the server. Everything else should be made differently.
Such as the words you type appearing over your head and other people's heads and be put in the chat box ( as long as you're in the same area as the other person. A set limit to what you could hear from would be needed. )

I read this from another forumer's post and found it interesting, so here's my take on it:

    /whisper ( or /w ) , Regular talking ( Press T ) , /shout ( or /s ) and Global Chat.

Whisper would be very faint and you'd have to be very close for whoever whispered to you to "hear" it. ( Have it pop up in your chat box. The one you access when you press T. )

Regular talking would be slightly louder and have a set area of what you could hear it from.

Shouting would be loudest. This would stretch farther than regular talking but still have a limit on it.

Global Chat would just be for the controller of the server.

that is exactly what i want
