Jul 20, 2013I love these villages - all the buildings end up being perfectly level so there are no awkward situations with two houses right apart from one another with one door several blocks higher. They're super easy to fix up and make habitable. And it's fun to have an underground spooky 'sewer' system beneath the roads.Posted in: Survival Mode
My newest survival world has this exact situation. I've begun cleaning it up and adding similar buildings.
May 13, 2013In survival, I use redstone for automatic farms, powered rails, as well as the occasional home defense system, but other than that... it's not something I'm particularly interested in.Posted in: Survival Mode
I do have a super flat world that I use for redstone contraptions, but I rarely play it.
I am VERY happy to have a redstone block now. Finally a reason to mine the stuff.

Nope, I'm not. :/
Gonna assume sound is working for all your other applications/games/video.
If you go into your ".minecraft" folder and open "options.txt", can you tell us what numbers are listed next to "music" and "sound"?
Posted in: Discussion
Mar 23, 2013For the moment, lets forget the moral aspect of distributing another person's work.Posted in: Discussion
What about updates and bug fixes?
Mod authors often rely on feedback from their users to improve the mod. When you distribute another person's work, you become a hindrance to them receiving that feedback. No matter how obvious you give credit, many users will be confused or too lazy to hunt down the original author.
And you will ALWAYS be late on updating the mod - if you update it at all. Most "redistributers" never do. Or they don't include necessary documentation or instructions. When the users have a problem, you won't be able to do jack for them; you'll most likely pass them on to the original mod author to deal with. Only now, the original author has to waste extra time figuring out that the user has an outdated version or hasn't had access to instructions that could have prevented the problem in the first place.
You also deny the original mod authors a bit of ad revenue. And you're an extra steamy pile of crap if you're using their efforts to generate ad-revenue for yourself.
No, you are not helping anyone by redistributing without permission.
Edit: Also, the site you linked appears to know jack about what Fair Use really means. They don't even understand the cases they're making examples of.
Mar 23, 2013I may have been tempted to pirate it prior to buying it, but between playing the free classic version and watching people play survival on Youtube, I was pretty sure the price was worth it for the full version (especially back in beta, when I got my copy).Posted in: Discussion
Ended up buying myself a copy and then down the road, two more copies for some family.
As for people who pirate the game with no intention to purchase it if they like it, or people who pirate it and then come whining on the forums about bugs.... THOSE people deserve a nice hot flaming.
I generally stick with games that have some form of free demo, though. I've been burned too many times on piles of crap masquerading as games to waste time on those that don't allow you to try before you buy.
Mar 23, 2013I'm sorry, I only speak English, but I'll try to help. Is the following correct?Posted in: Discussion
Your sound does not work. You have tried weeks to fix it. You have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but it still won't work. You have turned the volume to maximum, but the game still has no sound. The game is the most recent version. ( Minecraft 1.5.1 )
( Minecraft 1.5.1 )
Can you clarify some parts?
¿Puede usted aclarar algunas partes?
The game is a legal copy? The game is not a bootleg version?
¿El juego es una copia legal? ¿El juego no es una versión pirata?
Are you saying the folders are not downloading? What folders?

I don't think that is possible as it is hardcoded in the game.
Darn. Thanks for the info.

Dec 23, 2012I usually do, with a grid above them to prevent them from growing too tall. (I like the huge oaks for decoration around my house, but they are a massive pain to chop down.)Posted in: Survival Mode
In my current survival world though, my base is set right on the border between a snowy forest, a jungle, and a normal forest. So I haven't really bothered making a farm... yet. =)
Dec 9, 2012Just recently started this world. Still expanding my farm before I do anything interesting.Posted in: Survival Mode
Cows, messy herd of sheep, 1 automatic chicken coup for eggs, 1 chicken coup for killing, automatic wheat farm, potato patch, carrot patch. Still need to plant my pumpkins, various trees, and cactus. And I haven't been able to find melon seeds. =(
This is just my home base near spawn. As soon as I find somewhere more interesting to build, I'll try and start a city and fancy home.
