Most of the seeds you listed were certainly at one point popular and/or awesome, but that was before 1.8. The map generator is much different now, so features like gargamel's canyons and 404's megacavern are no longer present.
Yes, because the game with flying evil fireball-breathing jellyfish and suicidal explosive plant creatures is a serious game.
Minecraft has never attempted to be serious. Feel free to design or request a "Serious Mod" that removes everything you think is "silly." That's the point of Minecraft: do whatever the hell you want. Don't like golems? don't make golems. Don't like villagers? Burn their village to the ground and salt the earth. Don't like animal breeding? DON'T BREED ANIMALs! Do what you want, don't do what you don't want. That's Minecraft.
I like Basico 64x and Faithful 32x. Basico is a nice simple change, and I really like the wood, stone, and glass textures. Faithful is extremely similar to the default textures, just more high-def.
It will be called 1.10, as in one point ten. Version numbers are not actually decimals, and they can go to whatever number they want. Notch may not even go to 2.0 until the first expansion.
Example: World of Warcraft made it up to patch 1.12 (one point twelve) before the first expansion was released, which brought the patch number up to 2.0
-Mobs with actual strategies, like a slow monster that can only be hurt from behind
-dodges and parries
-"variant" forms of monsters, like Fast Zombie, Fire Skeleton, etc.
-Headshots! complete with head exploding animation, like Gears of War! (ok, this will never happen. I can still dream!)
People have opinions. Some people have the opinion that the Aether mod is the greatest thing ever, and others prefer unmodded Minecraft. Is either group correct? Doesn't matter, they're just opinions.
I don't know about you, but Endermen are actually pretty scary. The first time I fought one I was screaming and yelling at it, all while backpeddling deeper into a pitch-black cave. The endermen combat mechanics (those darn teleports!) make them extremely unpredictable, and that's scary.
You can find melon seeds in chests in abandoned mineshafts. So far it appears they grow on tilled soil, but my plants haven't grown enough for me to tell you anything else.
