posted a message on Adding dispenser functionality

    Hi,

So suppose I wanted to add dispenser functionality to some custom items in 1.7.10. Specifically, I'd like to make a dispenser carrying a certain custom item (a jar) take liquid out of another custom container when given a pulse.

Where would I go to find out how to do that?

I've looked all over the Internet for proper documentation of this but for the life of me I'm not finding it. The closest I've come is a different forum post where someone mentioned extending net.minecraft.dispenser.DispenserBehavior, but I don't have that class in that location at all.

Looking at the code's gotten me nowhere as I can't find anything that checks what item is being dispensed against what type of tile. Can someone point me in the right direction?

UPDATE: We now have a functioning spleef arena!

We also still have a few plots left in the spawn town to build in. This is prime real estate, people, get it while you can!

Just when you thought you were safe, we come back with a vengeance!

Here at Arthritis III, we try to be different by being nearly vanilla. There are some big changes, and we do have a decently large armada of plugins, but they for the most part should not affect your gameplay experience. There are some towns you can live in with those annoying little 10x10 plots you can purchase for varying amounts of emeralds, but the open world is completely unrestricted!

By joining the community, you are agreeing you fully understand the potential of prolonged exposure to the following:
    • Active admins
    • No land protection (but we do have LogBlock and some other means of finding the griefer responsible)
    • Emerald currency
    • Guest system in which you must be given permission to build to weed out the idiots
    • Completely optional protected plots
    • Shopkeeper plugin
    • Player-to-player supply and demand style economy
    • Teleport Hub that leads to places as they're created
    • A game town with, like, two things to do and growing!
    • Lots of grass and sand
So if that sounds like the server for you, or you wish to see the rules, just go on ahead and give us a visit. The rules will be shoved right in your face as you enter!

Is that better? I'm not making it in bold at the top, that's just begging to be griefed.

Well you're free to be rude to us provided it's reasonable. You can't just get on for the first time and say "FUQ DA ADMINS". But if we mistreat you, you're welcome to be mad.

Arthritis. Minecraft. Finally together again in one server.
    Yay.

So what's so great about this server?
Well, unlike most servers nowadays, this one tries to keep itself close to vanilla. It has plugins, oh yes, but it doesn't have any of those game-changing ones like lots, iConomy, or the like. There are protection plugins like LWC and LogBlock (so don't waste your time, griefers), but you're free to build and explore as you please, provided you respect other players and their work.

What's stopping me from griefing everything?
Admins are on almost all of the time, and they tend to follow new players around as long as they feel needed to ensure they aren't ne'erdowells. If we make a mistake and let one through, we have multiple protection and logging plugins to deal with them during or post-grief and repair any and all damages caused. The griefers will be either banned or dealt with in another, more humiliating way, depending on the severity, the amount of people we need to keep entertained, and the overall mood of the admins. The moral: Don't grief. Just don't, man.

    Oh yeah and AreaProtect!

    Server Rules:
    1: Don't be a jerk
2: No hacking, tools, or special clients of any kind (optifine excluded).
    3. No PvP unless in an area designed for it.
4: Scamming, cheating, and tricking people out of stuff are prohibited.
5: Don't act like a kid. We don't care how old you are, just don't let it show if you're a little brat.

    Things you should know:
These rules can change at any moment. Keep track of changes regularly to avoid awkward warnings.
Being allowed here is a privilege, not a right, and it can be revoked at any time.
Whether or not you like the server won't matter when you're banned.
The admins will try to follow the rules, but they will have to break some at times (mainly rule # 1) to catch and deal with some of you buggers.
If you understand and follow everything above, we'll all have a great time.
    The IP is 206.217.139.197.

If you have any questions, please ask an admin either in the server or here in this topic (slower response).
The currently active admins of the server are:

    Figfewdisgewd(me)
    S1mpleComplex1ty
    Xandor22
    DarthPowercord
    Hotrod502
    Xtreme86
    AnGspot

If anyone else claims to be an admin, just alert one of us.

Say, what makes this server so "good enough" anyway?:
Glad you finally asked! Unlike many servers nowadays, we like to give our players stuff to do as often as we can. This comes in the forms of the many hand-crafted dungeons and treasures underground, the interactive arena with semi-regular events, the rare, lone shops accepting strange, foreign currencies for unique items and powers, and, er, at least a couple more!

Now please, read that rule book and enjoy your stay!

I've played on Windows 8 for maybe four months at this point. The only problems I've had were fixed a while ago, where sometimes trees would spawn but not render, making random natural forcefields, and cats were just floating tails.

posted a message on Remember that mod that let you make "zombies" out of two blocks?
What the heck is that called? I've looked everywhere for it fruitlessly. It just doesn't exist anymore! I ask because I want to find out more about it in hopes of some day remaking it for current versions. It was a cute idea and I like the thought of making custom mobs out of structures.

I miss when the other mobs didn't have a hurt sound either. I want to punch a spider and hear it yell "Ooahh" again. Otherwise, the new sounds grew on me pretty fast.

posted a message on Are Enderman farms Over-Powered?
So, from what I've read it looks like the argument here is all farms v. all but enderman farms? I can reach level 30 in maybe 45 minutes of hunting at night in iron gear. XP/Spawner farms at all are overpowered. Sure they take lots of effort sometimes, but that doesn't mean suddenly you should have access to infinite XP. Soon enough I'm going to be running a server, and farms shall not be allowed. Go hunt, jeez.

Oh yeah, and as of recently, mining, smelting, and fishing also give XP, so do whatever floats your boat, even if that's water.

Oh but there is! Hackers, who should just be perma'd immediately in my opinion before they cause harm, aside, tempbans could easily be replaced by prison time or time wandering the world in adventure mode, vulnerable to attack (or simply being buried) by other players. My friend keeps telling me we should have an arena they must finish challenges in in order to return to the world unbanned. This brings me to another idea that makes me need to ask a question to you guys:

Any of you guys know of a plugin that can set certain players to hardcore and not the entire world? It'd be an interesting way to give players who violently bend rules and disrespect others "trials".

Hunger Games, 24 rule breakers, only 1 wins and can stay on the server ;)

I would definitely do it if I owned a server lol

Haha, that sounds evil! Sadly, I can't imagine managing to gather 24 rule breakers at once. Maybe if I advertised on PMC...

I had another idea when I found a plugin that lets you place fake players.
Make a prison full of players who have been banned, with names and descriptions in front of their cells.

Don't let them fall in on accident!

Oh don't worry, it comes with a lid and filter as well as a little decorative castle, plants, and a treasure chest with a dispenser below that drops a random item inside every day (daylight sensor) to hopefully keep players from getting TOO bored and leaving fast.

Also, what about the idea of just simply muting them and setting them to adventure mode to live as adventurers?
