Taklok, i was wondering when the mod will be updated to 1.6.2

Guys, please stop asking this. It may not seem like it, but it is very rude to the coders. It can even make them mad. You don't want that. Besides, if you're nice to the coders, they may even add in some community requested features, but don't quote me on that. I know you guys are super exited and want horses in the game to ride alongside dragons, but people, please stop.

I am getting an extremely fatal error. It isn't a crash, it's a failure to launch. When I click on the old or new launcher, I get an error window. I will post a picture of it. Please help me fix it; I can't even launch, much less, play Minecraft due to this.

Woops, ignore this. I made a mistake. And I can't tell you more because Tak has threatened to tie me to a chair and listen to Gangnam Style on an infinite loop if I spill the secrets.

It would appear that the "/shurtugal call" command is broken. I'll notify one of the coders. In the meantime, just don't use it.

I think it would be cool to somehow talk to them. And vice versa. Now I don't remember how it worked in the books but wasn't Saphira able to talk to other people? That would be a cool feature where another player could walk up to your dragon and right click it or something and your dragon would talk back

Saphira could talk to people other than Eragon, however, since she speaks through telepathy, it's rude to do so without permission. Also, it's a high honor to have a dragon other than your own speak with you.

A bit off topic, but... These new ones... I don't give a - sorry - f*ck about them. I stopped playing Pokemon after the GBA versions (Heart Gold is the only DS game I possess). ^^

    Ditto.

Get it? I'm so puny. ^_^

I believe I have some more names:
    • Dawn(f) Good at taming animals.
    • Jeremy(m) Good at fishing. River Monsters for the WIN!
    • Jackson(m) Good at taming animals.
    • Steve(m) Good at mining.

I would change Dawn to Misty. The newer Pokemon shows suck for a number of reasons. The old ones were miles better.

    Just some random ideas:
    • Ash (m), being extremely good at taming animals.
    • Altair (m), being very good at fighting with a sword.
    • Chell (f), either being good at hunting or at jumping. :D
    • Sarah (f), being good in (casting magic?) ranged combat - or doesn't "provoke" hostile mobs.

You forgot about Harry! (As in Potter)
    Let's see... who else...
    • Eragon (m) being very good in hunting or melee
    • Percy (m) being good at fishing (?)
    • Annabeth (f) being good at any kind of combat
    • Albert (m) being able to brew potions... maybe?
Sorry about the imbalance of genders... finding heroines is hard.

It's really not a matter of how difficult it is to do, it's how practical it would be. It would be cool, I'll admit, but language recognition doesn't belong in MCA.

Facade is an interactive story. You can somewhat predict what the player may say based on what is happening. But MCA has no story. The dialogue is based more on idle conversation just like the examples you listed. The player would have to initiate conversation since villagers do not, and really, what are they going to say other than "Hello" or ask some mundane question? Player input would be unpredictable. If I were to make villagers initiate conversation as well, we would still have the same problem - what would be said?

If you have a central story that allows you to predict what the player may say, language recognition is awesome. Without a story you just have random conversation, which is painful enough IRL.

    *snip*

I understand now. I'll try to improve the idea as best as I can, but thank you for the wholesome response! Keep doing what you're doing, because right now, it's unreal.

    Cheers!

That's a nice and good idea. The only problem is that your feature would be really, really hard to code because you can type in anything you want and the villager has to react. It's quite as hard as programming a functional AI.

    *snip*

The game facade has figured out how to do it, and it doesn't seem that difficult. All you need to do is to make a list of key words and have pre-generated responses for each key word. If you leave common words (like "a", "is", "the", etc.) out if the list, then it should run smoothly. Now, if you want to add different personalities, all you have to do is copy and paste the code from the previous method (java term, just incase whomever's reading this doesn't know) and replace the key words and responses. Than write a method that randomly assigns a key word/response combination to a villager every time one is generated in a new world. At this point, there are two options: you could add a method that directs whatever the player says to the villager with the name in the sentence (see example), or you could simply continue using the "chat" button in the villager GUI.

Example (key words are bolded, inside {} are words that function as the same word that came before it):
Player: "Hello {Hi, hey} [villager name]!"

[villager with name mentioned above]: "Hi [player name]." <- Generic response used by most villagers
    OR
"Leave me alone." <- Doesn't like the player, or negative personality
    OR
    "Hi, honey!" <- If married

    Example 2:

    Player: "How was your day?"

"Good." / "Not so good." / "Amazing." <- Generic response, one is picked based on mood (which is on the to-do list already)
    OR
"Don't you have anyone better to talk to?” <- Negative personality, or doesn't like the player
