Alright, I've been thinking of starting up my old minecraft world and let a few mature 18+ people play on it with me for awhile because it gets boring playing alone.
Little info on the server:
I had made a community based server about a year or so ago and it was pretty big, had people playing on it at all hours of the day for months on end, eventually it started getting too big and the save got corrupted, being my first server I didn't have a back up and basically everyone got pissed off and quite a few left. The few decided people we had stayed to make another server and this time I back it up every time before I boot it up. I had some stuff happen in real life and also just got kinda bored and lots of people stopped logging on so the server just slowly died. I'm thinking of bringing it back for a few people so we can play on it and have a good time.

First off:
This is a 100% trophies still enabled survival server and it will never change from that.
This server is 11 months old.
The seed is one that randomly found.
The server will always be on the Fantasy texture pack.
I along with a handful of others put a lot of work into what we have so far into the server so I won't just be letting every person in easily, just would like if you could comment on here or send me a message letting me know you're over 20 and are in it to actually build things and have fun with others and not mess everything up.
If I get enough people interested it will be up basically anytime I'm not working and I'm off 3 days a week so it will have a lot of up time.
Our main goal: is to just build and have a relaxing time, maybe try to get a trophy or two. It's never fun to just play alone all the time so this is a server where you can just feel like the world is actually alive and visit someones house, etc. I do want players to be some what serious, meaning don't just run around peoples builds and go in other peoples mines the entire time. Build your own things and make your own mines, if people ask you to leave their area or stay away from it, listen to them please. This server has the potential to be on for 9+ hours on days that I'm off at a decent time, even longer than 9 hours when I'm off that day.
Server will run on Colorado(Mountain) time.

If any of these rules are broken I will kick you from the server for the day, until the next reset.
If you break them a second time I will delete you from my friends list.

To get the IP he is talking about do I portforward or is the port my port in CMD?

So when people join they don't type like mcpro.co or whatever, how do I make it a .com, .net, .org?

How do people get certain domain names like [SERVERNAME].net
Also what kind of server did you run? Bukkit?
