I tried downloading the latest version of LWJGL from their website and placing the files appropriately, which used to fix this issue, but apparently not anymore. Anyone know if there's a solution for this?
I do agree with what you've said, and I do hope that the slimes get fixed so that you can go back into your tree farm, but don't you think that after all the hard work notch has put into the game to get it this far on his own that they deserve a little time off? That they deserve to celebrate their success and go meet their fans. I, too, am disappointed that the updates have become so vastly infrequent but I am hoping that once everything with the vacations and the conventions is said and done they'll be back in full force.
Also conventions like GDC aren't just to celebrate and congratulate. I can guarantee you that other developers and fans of the game were bombarding Notch and company with ideas, suggestions, improvements, and those words will be stuck in the back of their head. I'm sure they've returned with more ideas and innovations and are getting ready to code their fingers off again.
Like I said I agree that it's disheartening that updates have been so infrequent as of late, but I would like to think that things won't continue that way, and that this is just a small time of celebration and vacation, and that soon enough they'll go back to working full force and delivering the content, bug fixes, and pure awesomeness that we know they can.
P.S. I'm totally with you on the second game thing. The first thing I thought when I heard about Scrolls was "Are you kidding? Their first games not even done and they're starting the second one?" But Notch has said that he basically has no part in it, and while I'm sure there's discussion and such, I'd bet that Notch is focusing on Minecraft just as he's promised.
If you're not smart enough to follow simple instructions, don't bother with mods.
I feel the same way but unfortunately this is the internet and being stupid doesn't stop anyone from doing anything, nor does it stop them from creating the same thread that was created 5 minutes ago.
Why don't people just include ModLoader in their zip files? I know it increases the filesize but not by much, and if you drag the files into your minecraft.jar and they're already there it'll just overwrite them anyway...
It would cut a lot of "it's not working" questions...
It is true; You can't cheat in something that has no objective other than creativity. Personally I do most of my building and resource gathering by hand. If there's something tedious I need to do like a long-**** walkway I'll make that in McEdit, or if I need to make a bunch of bricks... There's no way in heck I'm searching the map all over for tons of clay so I put a big chunk of clay near the player and mine it all.
Notch has said in the past that he thought about sharks but they would be too much of a problem and said that he won't be implementing them. To my understanding Whales are planned though.
I found the gargamel seeds on the forums here a while ago and loved it, been building in it for some time now and I just wanted to share with you guys what I've done so far!
Goto your minecraft directory and delete the bin folder and the minecraft.jar file, then start up minecraft; it'l re-download all the needed files and you'll have a brand new minecraft 'install'.
