Where would my modules be stored, with the standard options of perl? Also, where would I even download a new module, and how would I put it to make it work?
Also, thanks for the great help so far.
Edit: Oh, and the config is correct. From what you said, I need to reinstall that module.
But what happens when you forget to check the ip of the fake griefer, the new op ip bans them, and you close the console? I'd say you were screwed if you weren't using MinerCPP.
The "minecraft.txt" log file. The ban-message(?), the disconnect-message, AND the log-on message all include an IP.
This sounds like something that would be exploited way too much. While it is a good idea, people would just instantly go for the villages, steal some tools, and take a house for their own - completely avoiding the whole 'doing it yourself' routine, which is what Indev is really about for the time being.
Maybe killing off / stealing from a human mob would make all other human mobs hostile towards you. That could work, and with some sort of peacekeepers amongst those mobs - like guards - this could bring new purpose to the game. Being friendly, or hostile towards the human mobs would open up for new, more complex, relationships with mobs.
**** fk
can some1 else host the server then? i cant, im pretty bad w/ servers.
I'm afraid it isnt as simple as hosting the server, as no server follows a template, other than the obvious server software (which some servers get past, btw), and so it would be hard for anyone to host it. Now, if you could provide the map the server used before it went down, someone could help you out. Your best option, other than that, is to just keep browsing servers untill you find one you like.
I dont want to backseat or anything, but I really suspect Q000 of trolling.
On topic, I think any amount of publicity is good for us, and good for Notch. Even though it might feel a little odd that our "little" community grows big, it will give Notch more reason to work faster - and more money for him to do more stuff with. Which is good. Right?
In my experience (which should not be taken too seriously), there is few resources near surface on deep maps. You should try going deeper - again, if you're on a deep map.
Yeah, it does that automatically. Look for a .txt document called "minecraft" in your server folder. It contains everything you can see in the console, from the first time the server was up, up untill now.
Torches go out? Or do you mean if they are submerged in water?
i never said that torches go out O_o
Then I cant see how it is important that lanterns do not go out. If they are an "upgrade" from the torch - that does not go out - one should expect the lantern not to go out as well.
That being said, torches SHOULD go out, after some time. Simply clicking them with the flint and steel should ignite them again.
Well locks should only be able to be opened with a key. Keys could be copied and distributed to people. Pick locks could also be created and used. How well the pick lock works and how well the lock resist being picked could depend on the material.
Or we could just bash through door.
It should be possible to force yourself through a chest. Have a ridicoulously long dig time for a chest - if you choose not to pick it. Unless you could just have a chest out in the woods with a decent lock, and keep all your valuables in it, just dropping by once in a while to stock up on whatever you need. Leaving your chest all alone should have its consequences in the long run.

$msock = IO::Socket::INET->new
So, it's probably me doing something horrible wrong. Do you have any idea what?

Would need a much more advanced AI first, though.

He's talking about your signature, I think.

Unless, of course, you use a stick or two, and bend them around the gear, giving you a wheel with spokes, much like that cart uses in your picture.
