I had the exact same problem as you. I think once you come to a certain point in your world, it is much easier to stick to it. Even if you are ready to quit a world, try playing it a bit longer. I stop playing most of my MC worlds once I have a shelter and maybe went mining once. But now and then, I really stick with a world and play it for weeks. Sometimes, you should practice just forcing yourself to continue a survival world. But, as long as you are having fun, it doesn't always matter.
I love these maps, even though I die every five minutes... Sunburn Islands is my favorite. If you are an able monster-slayer and dungeon-crawler, I definitely recommend this series. I really think it is cool how many people enjoy these maps.
All of these ideas sound pretty cool, especially the octopus one. Someone should make a mod for that. I heard a rumor that Mojang is going to incorporate visible fish in their next update. But for me, underwater cities would be making MC too much of an RPG.
Thanks for continuing MCNostalgia. I find myself frequently going back to previous Minecraft releases, and really appreciate your hard work that goes into making this.
If it just unexpectedly closes, there wouldn't be an error file.
Try deleting your bin file so MC will automatically update itself. You might have done something weird to the files. If that doesn't work, check the properties.
I agree that it is somewhat laggy, but to fix your Minecraft file just open Minecraft, and before clicking 'Login', go to 'Options' and click 'Force Update'. Then log in and that should fix everything. But yes, MC is file based and you should be able to use your account on your dad's computer.
For all of you, I suggest first changing your server txt file so that you are mods. Secondly, if you are running bukkit, get rid of all your plugins. Thirdly, update your MC file and start your server over.
By the way, does it say 'You do not have permission' when you try to do anything? If it does, you have a permissions problem and need to edit your plugins/txt files.
This is how you make your server almost impossible to hack.
1. Use Hamachi to connect to the server
2. Whitelist the server
3. Change the max users of the server to 2 (or however many friends use your server)
4. Make sure the name of your Hamachi server, MC server, and Hamachi password are WEIRD. Like 'Ddkl50D837slA'.
These things should make the server basically hack-proof. I'll explain why:
A. Pretend that the server running on your computer and your friends' computers are separated by a gate. Hamachi is that gate. To access your server (get through the gate) you need to know the Hamachi username and password (the key). Whenever anyone opens that gate (gets to your server through Hamachi by typing in the username and password), their Hamachi username appears on your Hamachi application. If they try to access your Minecraft server without using Hamachi, they wouldn't be able to connect.
B. If they get through that (which would be a very difficult thing to do), they would not be able to access your computer. If you could access all the servers on WOW or Runescape or something, hackers would have gotten to their computers a LONG TIME AGO. There is a reason people send viruses through email and websites.
C. To enter your Minecraft Server, they would need to have hacked one of your friends' Minecraft accounts. The purpose of a white list is to make the server only accessible if you have a certain username (or IP address, depends on how you set it up). So they would need to know who plays on your server and have a machine that guesses passwords, or physically be on your friend's computer. Otherwise it would just show the message 'You are not white listed on this server', and would send them back to the main screen.
D. Just as a safety precaution, if all your friends are playing the server at the same time, it would be impossible for another person to get on. It would just give them the message 'The server is full', and send them back to the main screen again.
E. Furthermore, if your friends are trustworthy, you don't need to worry about them. And even if they aren't so trustworthy, it would take an extremely talented kid (I'm assuming you aren't out of school yet, considering you're living with your dad) to hack someone's computer through a MC server (although I don't recommend allowing random people into your server unless you have anti-grief plugins).
Are you making a mod? Because if you are, you just need to insert a bit of code. Go to your line of code for the specific item in the Item.class file. Just add this to it:
.setIconIndex(1);
Change the 1 to whatever icon you want. To find the icon list, go to
Roaming / .minecraft / bin / minecraft.jar / gui / items.png
If you want to use a custom icon, you have to edit the png file. I think there is a way to use custom images without editing it, but I am not sure how to go about it.

Hope this all helped. Good luck with your server.
