Your wording was just humorous, sorry? It also helps that I am a bit of an insomniac and so am mildly delirious from lack of sleep?

Naw I see it "Lumberman quest... hint hint axes". However it states within the dialogue he wants a new axe, but it also talks about decent tools... however I've made him every type of axe and almost every set of tools except diamond.

Lumberman quest doesn't really work. I'd recommend adding some type of hint as to what needs to be accomplished.

All I need is a farming mod and I can play freaking harvest moon in minecraft. I've followed Millenaire since like .4 and done many videos on it. It's just amazing to see how fleshed out this mod is becoming, easily the best mod for minecraft.

Minecraft will never be done, because there is no end for minecraft. It doesn't have the luxury of completion or cap. It never ends, therefore it becomes very difficult to say minecraft is done without it becoming a subjective topic.

    Yay, another bitchfest thread.

In less than a week they are going to stop adding content and start doing the bug fixes and optimizations that you're crying about
. I'm looking forward to the influx of threads bitching about how no new content has been added in over a month.

LOL Wow, I feel terrible for wanting a smooth, polished game. So terrible that I may just cry over it.

I'm looking forward to this forum continuing its trend of short term memory.

Anyways in all seriousness this thread wasn't bitching or crying in anyway. Honestly you're bitching more than I am, I simply made a thread asking a question that many people seem to agree with, similar to what I did a month ago when I brought up this very same subject. So please look at the world through eyes other than your own, your own bias or ignorance blinds you from being able to see that this is anything but a bitchfest.

Meh, it's his game and these mods are based upon his intellectual properties. I don't know the legal aspects of it but modders cant complain. Some are making money via his game.

posted a message on Is Notch doing too much?
I've made quite a few topics addressing this issues of unorganized updates. However I've taken a break from the forums because of sheer frustration. However I'm back posing a simple question.

    Is Notch doing too much?

I'll say yes. It seems like Notch is trying to add way too many ideas and features into the game. Over the past 2 months we have gotten:
    + New World Generation
    + Hunger and EXP bar
    + Villages and... those things.
+ New Mobs and nether additions.
    + New Lighting system
    + New Blocks

+ Potions, stats(?), Animal breeding, ender world, dragons, enchanting, etc.

That's is a ton, honestly over the course of the time I've played I only ever got beds, smooth lighting, weather, and wolves really. Those few additions are tiny in comparison to what we've gotten in the past 2 months, and those small features I mentioned were over the course of 5-6 months.

At this point I've realized there is no way Notch will ever complete all these features (honestly most of these features will be shallow anyways), fix present bugs/bugs introduced by these features, and optimize the game. There is a point where enough is enough. We don't need these features, we just need a polished game that is optimized and has modding support. Let the modders continue to make this game better.

As it is I imagine Notch just wants to be done with minecraft. You can only be attached at the hip with something for so long before you become sick of it and want to move on. It seems like Notch just wants to be done with Minecraft.

You sir, are a saint. We have been trying to get our channel a bit more popular, but it seems to be growing very slowly. We did do a video with another Minecraft YouTuber, but we didn't seem to get much attention from that. Will try your suggestions.

    Thanks man

posted a message on How to grow a youtube channel.
A video I did talking about my experiences growing a youtube channel. The focus of this video is on the topic of focus.

    Gameplay Focus:
Know what you want to record, whether it be a game, a series, etc know what you want to do and stick with it. If you want to do minecraft then pick it up and stick with it, and find something you like within minecraft. Once you pick a game know what you want to do with that game. With minecraft do you want to be a builder, LP'er, mod showcaser, texture pack showcaser, etc. Know what audience you're trying to reach out to and stick with it. When you're a smaller channel it is hard to do too many different ideas at once, you'll grow faster and keep subscribers longer if you have a focused idea of what you want your gameplay to be.

    Commentary focus:
Do you want to be funny, do you want to express your knowledge, or do you want your viewers to relate to you? Either way pick what you want to talk about. If you want to be funny then your audience will be a wide range of ages because laughter knows no age limit. If you want to talk about NASA then your audience will be a bit smaller because the amount of people interested in NASA is smaller than those interested in being amused. If you want to talk about your life in a vlog type style then your audience will be with whoever connects with you. Either way play to your strengths and your interests and stick with it. Know who you want to project your voice to and whom you want to receive it.

    Don't:
Don't alienated an audience. Basically don't be racist, sexist, fanatical, or insulting.
Don't be unfocused and try to do too much. You'll end up splitting your audience and losing people which you cannot do when you're this small.
Don't represent someone else, or some idea. Represent yourself because if you represent an idea people are likely to just sub to you because of the idea that you represent.
Don't worry about quality. Quality itself is subjective and you can't have amazing quality right now. Focus on your strengths and increasing them. Once you get enough time, resources or money you can worry about making amazing quality.

    Exposure:
Exposure is everything on youtube. Being focused is what brings you more exposure. Progress in areas that you already excel in and work on your gameplay and your commentary. Post production isn't necessary but knowledge and focus is.

posted a message on TTTT? We prefer TWG.
So a couple folks and I find that TTTT is a corrupted concept. It attempts to establish a mindset that encourages just getting bigger to get more money. This is spawned from the roots of the concept, however even with the corrupted mindset it is being promoted as sub 4 sub rather than an actual mindset. This is what spawned Together We Grind because youtube is a grind and TTTT doesn't make it any less of a grind.

    AtheneWins:
Athenewins is creator or TTTT, or he is at least the biggest advocate of it, he tells us to get his back so he'll get ours and together we'll be at the top. In reality he is already in the top percentage of youtubers, he is just trying to make money from his videos because people see the partners making money and they want to make money too. He has used MLK's speech (which is quite offensive) to try and promote this cause and he himself make more money. He asks people to box him so that he'll give you a private shoutout. In the end he just wants to grow bigger and make more money, he uses this cause to promote himself and gain popularity from people boxing him and searching TTTT out of interest.

    Sub 4 Sub:
The new phrase I hear people posting is "Yo man you like TTTT? Sub me". People use TTTT to just get more subscriber (that is what it is intended to do) and not actually make better content.

    Represent yourself:
Don't represent TTTT (or TWG) represent yourself. Have a swagger about yourself and work on making your own content better. Don't box bigger channels to try and identify with an audience, or promote them. They don't need your help to grow. I guarantee you that they'll gain 1000-10000 more subscribers for every 10 you get. If you represent TTTT people will just subscribe to you because they like/represent TTTT themselves, not because they actually like your content.

    Don't Idolize Big Channels:
Having subscribers doesn't always mean that youtuber has good content, or that he is has knowledge about youtube. I myself have watched a lot of videos on how to grow a youtube channel and people always take these ideas to heart, in reality they're always vague. Points like "Make good content" or "network" are hot topics yet they mean nothing. What is good content and what does it mean to network? Most big channels got lucky or don't know how they got there. They just got enough exposure and reached enough people. I'd even argue that many big channels don't have excellent content, I'd argue that a lot of it is good but could be better. Smaller channels have good content and also know how to grow on youtube because they're the ones who are grinding everyday to get bigger.

    Youtube is a grind:
No matter what people say TTTT won't make you big, it may help for a big but you don't know if those subs just subbed for no reason other than you having TTTT in a video title and/or Athenewins in your channel box. You have to be consistent and understand how to make better quality. Once you get to the point where you are a partner you'll be able to coast from there because Partners are first class citizens on youtube, everyone else is old news.

TTTT isn't a community, it is a cause used to promote ones self:
TTTT should have been a community, however it just a cause. TWG strives to promote constructive criticism and sharing of ideas. Whether the ideas be what worked/didn't work for expanding your views or what didn't work when rendering and editing.

Subscribers don't mean **** if you can't keep them, and that is something TTTT doesn't tell you.

We'd love to hear what you have to say. We'd like to see how the community reacts to this so leave us a comment telling us what you agree, or don't agree with. Maybe go into what your experiences have been.

TWG Channel with a video expanding on ideas.

The second video is a video explaining how to grow a youtube channel and that even if you get a bunch of subs from a shoutout you still need to make good content. The caller in the video went from something like 90 subs to 1000 to something like 10,000 shortly after this aired. However he is back to 8,000.

The CoD community is much more critical of videos, much more than the Minecraft community. It is a great listen.

posted a message on What makes an update/feature good?
This is a question I think everyone should ask themselves. What makes this feature good? I see a lot of answers stating that it is fun or cool, which really are vague and don't mean anything. What makes it fun/cool? Answer those questions an you'll have the reason.

For me a update is good if I find myself asking how I lived without it. This is generally an answer I get most with subtle updates, whether they influence the game play directly or indirectly. I find additions like snowmen, wolves, and pistons to be fun for a bit then I become bored of them and never touch them again.

An example of some features I love:
Smooth lighting. I can't play without it. It just makes such a graphical difference that I couldn't go back to anything pre 1.3 (I believe it was 1.3) this can also be applied to the new lighting as well.

Beds. This is a feature that directly influences gameplay. I always find myself thinking back to when I didn't have beds and wondering how I survived. If I died and was far away from spawn I was screwed. If I had no coal it was a long night tabbing out of minecraft and surfing the internet till the sun came up. It is something I use in almost world and wouldn't go back pre 1.3.

Other features would be fence stacking, world generation, new animations, weather, and new particle effects.

I'm fine with the game just getting more polish. The core concept of minecraft is what keeps me playing, some of the new features are just useless to me because I could live without them.

posted a message on What the 1.8 and 1.9 update feel like to me
I've said it since 1.9 came out we are getting too many ideas that have little to no depth. The core concepts of are being left for dead while we get villagers who should be fleshed out NPC's. On a smaller scale we are getting snowmen instead and mushroom biomes instead of villagers who have some type of use. In the end even when villager comes out I'll find them and enjoy them for a week then go back and play minecraft like I did in 1.2.

We are getting more features that really don't make the game have any more longevity.

posted a message on More subtle features?
It has gotten to the point where I feel like the core concept of minecraft is being forgotten, for every update we get we get 2 features that are like wolves and 1 feature that is like smooth lighting. When I play without smooth lighting I think "How did I ever play this game without it" and when I find a wolf I just think "Oh theres a wolf". The wolf never provided any real sense of longevity to the game, or incentive to keep playing. It never made the game look better, or play better. It was just a feature added that and shortly after was forgotten (by myself and what seems to be a good portion of the community).

Subtle features make this a better game:
I loved the addition of beds, they're so subtle but I continue to use them to this day. I find more use for beds than I do for a feature like wolves or snowmen. Beds change the way I play the game and make me miss the days when I never had a bed. Same goes for the new world generation, the new lighting system, weather, and being able to place torches on fence posts. Lighting is subtle in that it doesn't change gameplay, however it makes the game feel so much better and more polished. The new world generation is great and really enhanced the core gameplay mechanic (whether that be mining, building, or exploring) in ways that makes it hard to go back to 1.7. Being able to place torches on fence posts was my favorite addition to 1.7, it is something I still use today and really regret never having before hand.

    Other subtle additions:
New Animations, particle effects, weather, dripping water, and mushroom spread are all nice little additions that make me want more of these.

This is all from what I've noticed with both vanilla minecraft and mods. I play with the new features then go back to playing minecraft how I did in 1.2. These additions are fun for a bit but become a foot note after a week. However I could never go back and play without smooth lighting or the new world generation.

It is the same for mods I always come back to mods like MAtmos, water shader mod, glsl shaders, survivalism, or natures overhaul. Mods that do subtle things that may, or may not, influence the game directly but are very noticeable when they're gone.

    Natures Overhaul:
Natures overhaul is the only mod I'd like to see in the game. It was the first mod that introduced the tree feller idea, and creates a living ecosystem. Plants grow and die, animals mate and breed, etc. Great mod that makes the game seem like it is a living breathing game.
