I just died a while ago, but got lucky with my respawn location and found a decently stocked hut from a previous death after only a couple minutes of walking. Anyway I was able to set out again with an iron sword, some mixed bits of iron and leather armor, enough food to last me a good while, and of course, a compass. It was getting late, but I decided to leave anyway, wanted to get back to what I was working on when I died.

I found original spawn and was on the road home when I accidentally ticked off an enderman and a friend. Again, I was only lightly armored, and stood no chance against them in an open fight like that. I darted off the path and ducked under a tree with only a 2 high gap and swung at them every time they approached. Eventually they died and I was able to continue on my way, but the whole thing felt really cheap to me. I mean, endermen are the most dangerous overworld mob (imo) but having something as simple as a 2 high ceiling completely counter them is kinda sad. I figured I was just gonna sit cowering under the tree until dawn came and they lost interest in me, but ended up taking the cheap way out and won a fight I had no business winning.

Eh outside of BTW Clay has always been pretty useless to me. I never use brick, and clay varies so widely between texture packs that using it as an accent isn't really an option. If this new block let's me finally use clay for something other than flower pots then I'll be happy. That said, painted wood did look awesome, but seems like it would've been a pain to implement. I mean vanilla sure, all the wood textures are just recolors, but all the work texture packs like this one would have to do to get proper painted wood for each type of plank? Ouch

I'm still waiting for them to add a nice dark grey/black building block, similar to Basalt from one of the FTB mods.

Nice view of the a pyramid with the block at about the 1 minute mark.

Edit: Bleh spoiler'd because the forum insists on auto embedding videos.

It sounds to me like you need to sprint and jump less. Also experiment with different food sources.

In addition to that, this thread has some nice tips for surviving early game.

Optifine has issues with BTW. There is (or at least was) a way to make them work together by getting rid of certain optifine functions, but I'm not sure if that's still true.

Actually, they're half implemented and currently taking a blockID already. I got distracted by some drama when I was in the middle of implementing them and haven't had the will to go back to them since.

I will though, and it's only a matter of time before they get added in. They're a relatively low priority item though since their uses are entirely decorative.

Oh, never heard about that, neat. Another decorative option to look forward to. Just wondering though, how much work would it take to make candles sit properly on a vanilla flowerpot? Could possibly be a makeshift candle holder for desks or whatever. I've been trying to phase out torches as my go to light source, but sometimes a lamp or chunk of glowstone doesn't really fit in.

Candles were at one point planned to be placeable like torches iirc. FC was waiting for the extended block ID's that Mojang mentioned ages ago, but still hasn't implemented.

Edit: Also random issue I ran into a long time ago that your post reminded me of for some reason

Does this mean you never said you were adding steam powered diamond saws that double as horizontal pulleys?

Boat fall damage is a vanilla issue that's been around for quite a while. Never heard of the rest.

O'really? That's probably where it spawned from then, not like me to have such a good/okay/not-entirely-bad idea after all. Reading through, wouldn't it be cool if it wasn't just sunlight that killed it but any intense light? Say, an intensity of light able to prevent mob spawning :P Now that'd really force automation.

For the record, I didn't bring that up to say your idea is unoriginal. After all, it wasn't diamond saws/steam/other thing we've seen suggested 2 dozen times. Just thought you'd like to see someone else's similar suggestion and the feedback it got.

Someone suggested this on the BTW forums a long while ago. Basically needs moonlight to grow, but sunlight would damage it. I think he wanted to tie it into moon phases as well, don't really remember.
Anyway, I think FC responded favorably to the idea, so who knows, it may be sitting at the back of his mind still. But considering that he's attempting to wrap up BTW, a new plant and it's uses could be a bit more than he wants.

Edit: Found the thread I was thinking of

I had forgotten bonus chests were even an option... At least they don't come with anything FC has removed or made harder to get, like wheat seeds or low tier hoes for example.

Edit: Whoops wood axes can be inside.

Nah, it was just the closest thing ingame to paper walls, like they actually have in Japan. The big building to the right uses Wicker and Wicker Blocks, because there's ladders going up the inside, and you can't place them on normal Wicker. The other buildings all use only normal wicker. I must say, asian-style buildings look pretty cool :)

Ah ok, makes sense. I think Pandokucraft does have actual... Shogi? Shoji? I forget which is the game and which are the paper wall panels. Anyway, yeah, the wicker are paper wall panels in that pack iirc.

Why are beds disabled? The "skipping the night" feature should be the only feature kept, but adding mobs spawning and plants growing in the night, sped up. This could improve the BTW mod, but continues to keep the feel of the set respawn of BTW. :DORE:

Skipping the night just makes things easier. If you're exploring you'd still be able to plop a bed down and barely see any mobs other than a few creepers and whatever managed to find some shade or a pool of water. FInd activities to do at night, there's plenty of stuff you can do to occupy yourself while waiting for dawn to build/hunt/travel/whatever.

    Just a thing about spawn points that you mentioned, and how it makes it harder to build creatively/build cool stuff in general;

My base, approximately three days walk from spawn. I've just finished a 13-floor underground mob-trap, and am starting automation. I've died multiple times, and due to the fact that all hardcore modes are on, have explored a huge portion of my world around spawn. It is entirely possible to build awesome stuff with Better Than Wolves. In fact, I'd say it makes building good-looking stuff feel like much more of an accomplishment.

Nice, I like the use of Wicker, I'm guessing you're using it as lattice?
