I go to mojang's website, I click the download for the 1.6.2 pre release launcher, and replace the previous launcher. But when I start the launcher to play, it keeps me on 1.6.1 even when I edit it to play the pre release. Is anyone else having this problem?
I don't know about stupid, but the strangest things I've built both involve anvils;
I created a TNT anvil cannon to play a game where I see how far away I can launch the anvil, and I created a killer anvil elevator shaft where I drop anvils on mobs heads and on myself.
I don't like that they are changing difficulty in an indirect fashion.
The hunger situation makes the game more annoying. It's not the amount of food that's causing the problem, it's the constant need to stop, eat, fight, stop, eat. It also takes up precious inventory spots to carry alot of food.
If you want to make combat harder, ACTUALLY MAKE COMBAT HARDER. Don't make the external factors harder.
I liked the change to zpigmen; they extended their combat reach, so you can't just kill packs of pigmen in the nether without making a strategy first.
I liked the increased aggro range for zombies. This way, you can't just fly in on them and kill them in 2 seconds, they may get the drop on you.
I do not like the unexplained spawning of zombies out of thin air. It doesn't make zombies any harder to kill, it just makes more zombies to kill, more hunger depleted, and more weapon durability down the drain.
I'm not a fan of the difficulty buffs in these new updates at all, and more and more I find myself playing on peaceful out of sheer annoyance. If you're in a developed world, these changes mean squat, but if you're trying to start a new world, it makes the game unfun and unplayable.
Lastly, anyone who thinks survivng is made only for the point of survival has not played the game since early development. Survival is for surviving, completing the game, or building. Building is not just for creative mode. In creative mode, building isn't satisfying because you didn't work and gather the resources yourself. Survival is not just for surviving.
I think you may already be able to throw some custom sounds into the sounds folder with different names, and then play them using /playsound by putting the filepath in the command. I'm not sure, though. If that isn't already a feature it should be.
Turns out the pigman aggro sound isn't the only sound that doesn't use standard pitch; from what I can guess, the explosion sound alternates anywhere from .5 pitch to 1 pitch. Bat noises are also used ingame off of standard pitch.
I also love how they kept the classic damage noise in the game. It's fun to use for a losing notification.
I'm having alot of fun tinkering around with this. Has anyone else noticed that the in-game pigman aggro sounds are high pitched? The standard pitch for the pigman aggro sound isn't the one used in the actual game.
No, it just means I don't have to carry a stack of dirt/gravel around when I know I have to place lava. A bug has been fixed, it doesn't make the game that much easier.

You may have accidentally typed the name wrong.

It probably is. I haven't played on 1.6.2pre yet so maybe they changed that.

Rant over.

I believe this might be your problem. If you've previously explored the chunks you're searching for horses in, you won't find them there.

Not yet. The furthest you can go back at the moment is to 1.5.1.
