I think you should make a glass roof, and cover up the arch with dirt. Then, make a double door and light up your new home. Make a mine in the center, I suggest a 4x4 quarry covered up with glass. When you have enough cobblestone, make a second floor above the first floor. Have the exterior made out of a dirt dome that looks natural.
So, wouldn't a blaze spawner be the fastest way to farm exp, since they give the most exp/mob? With a diamond sword, + strength 1 potion, they die in two, non-critical hits.
Yes, but also probably the most dangerous to create. Blazes can fly, so it would be hard to force them a certain direction. Maybe you could trap them in a small are where you could snipe them with an enchanted bow.
Expand outward. Build a large wall and moat, place walkways on the walls and watchtowers on the corners. Then, build small houses inside and/or outside of the walls. Keep expanding.
Place a sign outside their door that says something like "Haha all your chests are mine"
Make sure you don't do anything to ther chests though :tongue.gif:
Thanks to A Blind Moron for the idea.
•Watchtower
Building a watchtower out of cobblestone and ladders is very helpful for a few reasons.
•You can look for forests, cave openings, etc.
•You can look for passive and hostile mobs
•You can find your home easily
•You can store chests and other blocks such as enchantment tables if you create different levels
I would suggest building a 4x4 frame up to the sky limit (which will be 64 blocks higher in 1.2.0)!
Have a floor every 6 blocks.
•Underground Base
In SMP, underground bases are almost necesarry. Even in single player, underground has its advantages. Build a central room, crafting and smelting room, storage and bedroom, and a mine. Maybe your base could be at level 10-16 so you don't have to travel down to get to your diamond mine!
•"Nomad Kit"
Maybe you're traveling to collect EXP and meat. Or are you planning to be the ultimate griefer? (Don't grief unless the server allows you to, please) Well, you will need to have a small hut for crafting and smelting!
Items you should carry:
•At least 64 cobblestone
•At least 128 wooden planks
•At least 64 dirt
•At least 3 stone/2 iron/1 diamond pickaxe(s)
•At least 1 stone axe
•At least 24 coal
•At least 64 torches
yeah I found the End portal pretty quickly too, but I had to use AMIDST to find my stronghold :/ It didn't have any entrance from the surface, I don't know how you're expected to find it!
You throw ender pearls (or eyes of ender, can't remember) , and they will fly in the direction of the nearest stronghold.
Hi, and thanks for viewing at least the first sentence of my guide! :tongue.gif:
In this guide I will try to help you have the best experience in any survival world, either a Pvp server or Survival single player world!
~Part I: Your first three days~
Right when you spawn, take a few seconds to look at a 360° view of your new world. Then, head to the nearest tree in sight and begin collecting wood.
After you gather 5 wood logs, craft 20 wooden planks out of them and craft a crafting table. A few blocks away from your grove of trees, dig a 2x2 hole in the ground. Place the crafting table in one corner, and craft a few ladders. (Place sticks in an H pattern on 3x3 grid)
Place the ladders in a way so that you can get out easily.
After that, craft a wooden axe and cut down trees until you have at least 10 logs. Come back to your pit and craft a wooden pickaxe. Then, use your hands to dig out dirt in 1x3 sections in a stair-like pattern. When you reach the stone layer, mine at least 30 cobblestone
Craft a stone sword and pickaxe, and another axe, and break your crafting table. It's time to move.
It should be nighttime now, so you should be careful. Glance behind you regularly, and try not to get into any fights. Head in a single direction, and kill any passive mobs along the way.
Hopefully you lasted the night.
Head to the nearest forest, and set up camp. Craft a stove, and use some wooden planks to cook meat that you earned overnight. Don't forget to eat!
If you are in singleplayer, it's best to build a visible, above ground house out of cobblestone. If you are in an SMP server, you'll want to have an underground home, or a far-away-from-spawn above ground home.
Building a house in SP:
Make sure you have a good amount of cobblestone, then build.
Build a 6x6 box of cobblestone, 4 blocks high. Then, build the roof. Leave a 1x2 hole in your wall for a wooden door.
Then, mine down at the back of your room in 2x3 bits, like earlier. Try to find coal. Coal is common on sides of mountains too, so check those out. Also, SMP servers sometimes have shops where you can buy items. Check those out if you can.
Craft some torches and light up your mine and house. Place a wooden door in the entrance.
Continue mining, logging, and building. Before the next night, use your sword to kill some sheep. Craft a bed and sleep in it at night for the first few nights.

Have you ever been in a war server and they do much more then they need to? I.E. Place Nazi signs, flags, signs saying "WE RAIDED YO BASE YO GO AWAY"?
Well this is what this post is about. And it doesn't have to be overkilling a base it could be overkilling a group of mobs or even overkilling a pig XD Whatever seems to fit that category goes here!
On one server I play on some person or group created a bunch of flaming Nazi symbols out of netherrack for no apparent reason. •_•
VERRRRRY nice!!! I like how hidden this is and how such a mundane task sets it off
I like it too. But, I think that there should be water underneath the TNT, so there would be no block damage. Also, that water current could be used to carry the player's items to a certain location. Having a floor of water would make the trap more obvious though, and could be hard to set up.
How about swapping out the TNT part for something like a torch+water=falling sand pitfall trap?
The ice would melt because of the furnace. The water travels through a channel, where it hits a torch holding up a sand block. The sand falls, sending the victim hurddling down into a pit. The items spill everywhere, collected by a water current that leads to an underground base.
The one water block wouldn't stop all of the fall damage, so you could just make the pit a little deeper.
Using this, you wouldn't have to craft and use up TNT. However, there would have to be a way to keep the player on that one sand block. I'm not sure, maybe an iron door behind them, or pistons?
I'll attemp to create a trap on the spot (Obviously have not tested it)
I think this would work well against noobs…
Build a 2x2 pit at least 24-30 blocks deep.
Cover the entrance with a material different from the surrounding blocks.
Have your main area at the bottom of the pit, or on the side.
noobs could see your nametag, dig through the material, and fall.
*Another idea*
dig a 1x1 hole in the ground, and place ladders to climb.
Dig out a 10x8x4 room below.
Either claim the land, when they try to escape they can't, or…
Place a pressure plate on the block they will land on when entering.
Place a water block two blocks below the pressure plated block.
Place TNT in the gap
Place a sign at the entrance luring people in without saying "Come into my house" :tongue.gif:
