posted a message on "How did we get here?" Advancement

If you look at the wiki, the "How did we get here?" (HDWGH for short) advancement is basically just "Furious Cocktail" with the addition of several effects. The problem is, Levitation, Mining Fatigue, and Wither will be very difficult to obtain at once, and I cannot think of a better way to do it than find an end city with a gateway near it, then teleport to your spawn which you have set up next to an ocean monument with a wither skeleton nearby.

    Any suggestions?

posted a message on Opinion about the new Concrete block

There are manny easy, simple redstone machines that help with this. But to be ultra simple, set up a water block that flows in only one direction. Put dust in your off hand and a pick in your main hand. Hold down both buttons next to the water and PRESTO easy concrete.

posted a message on More Villages in Newer Versions?

In 1.11 I believe they made it so that villages can sprawl into other biomes as long as their spawn point is in the correct biome. This allows for villages that would otherwise not spawn, because they would extend outside of the biome, to spawn across biome boundaries.

posted a message on Igcandra / Lava Lamp (Probably not what you think)

I like the idea of a "Nether Sea Lantern" for all of the previously stated obvious reasons. A smooth lava light block would be perfect for dark sci-fi builds.

Also, people complain that it's useless, but you're basically saying "Why have hardened clay/concrete when wool also has all of the colors?" It's just an aesthetic block that accomplishes the same goal with a smoother texture.

Not too sure about the whole mob spawning complexities though. I think it should probably be just your average light source.

posted a message on Why Iron Nuggets? How About How Much Ingots It Took To Craft?

I think it should be a nugget per ingot used to craft it, and five for horse armor. One nugget is too few, and a full ingot is way to much, especially in the aforementioned use of shovels.

Well then we should just shut down all opinions and suggestions, right? The heck with feedback!!!!!!!!!

    Boy, that escalated quickly.

If you want to know how people think of them on a percent scale, all of the polls on this site I've seen show about a 10% disapproval rating. 9 out of 10 people like, or are at least alright, with these blocks. My biggest question is why not just use a resource pack? Then you can control how the blocks work. Go ahead and give feedback, the devs appreciate it, but realize you are in the vast minority, and also notice the many alternatives. Nobody is forcing you to use these.

Mojang can't just make "Prettier blocks". How a block looks is subjective. Just like all the other blocks.

My entire point in one post.

I didn't mean to offend you, but just because they add something does not mean they won't add other stuff you like. And as far as adding new stone, they tried that with andestite, diorite, and granite. People were happy at first, but after a little bit of initial hype people realized that not only did they not look that great, but they also added a new block that filled up valuable inventory space while mining (Remember those diamonds you found? Well they didn't go into your inventory because a single block of granite was in it's space) and was mainly just a nuisance especially when trying to create nice looking underground rooms without too much work. I'm not trying to shut you down or prevent your opinion, but as far as "the devs are out of ides" goes, of course they are. Its been SIX YEARS. That's an eternity in the gaming industry, and with such a huge modding community, there pretty much isn't anything that has not been added or modded. Not to mention that they have to stay in the realm of things that are "Minecrafty", or more of a medieval-fantasy style as opposed to the crazy tech mods like Thermal Expansion or GalactiCraft. I also don't understand why "don't use them" is such a terrible response. I am legitimately asking for a more detailed answer to this question. I do not understand how the terracotta could be any better for what it is trying to accomplish. Like i said, there needs to be a direct replacement that mimics or takes over the role of the terracotta for this to be a reasonable argument. I realize there is a huge number of people who disagree with these blocks, but it makes up less than a tenth of the total community, and even less are as strongly opposed to it as you are. Unlike the new wool palete, which affects already existing builds, or the combat update, there's nothing in the snapshot that you couldn't go your entire experience without using. Any pixel artists will tell you the concrete is a miracle foe making better looking builds without using the loud texture of wool.

And finally, the simplest, easiest, and best solution, just save us all some time and use a resource pack. I saw someone made more monochromatic versions of the terracotta that keeps the pattern but eliminates all the wacky colors. I don't have a direct link, but just peruse the reddit and you'll find it.

So i'm not supposed to weigh in my opinion because some one says don't use them? I didn't say that. No I want a block that all of us can use and like. Literally impossible. This is the internet, there will always be someone who doesn't like it. These are just so ugly it makes me mad. I would have expected more designs that follow the feel of minecraft, even if they were wicked crazy in colors.

Seriously Chisel 2 does (most of it) what i'm talking about
Awesome blocks http://i.imgur.com/kpvAGFS.png These are pictures of smooth blocks, not carpets, which is what you are talking about, or designs, which is the primary purpose of terracotta. You wouldn't replace pistons with airplanes because they're "better". If you want to replace something, it has to have the same purpose.

Blocks like that or even the carpets from chisel 2 (which I loved.) The current blocks look like poorly designed carpets They're supposed to be mosaic blocks, not carpet. and the concrete from what I can tell is just a solid color. Which allows a vibrant, true-color alternative to stained clay which, if you couldn't tell, is very bland and unsaturated, not to mention that the white is a peach color.

if it legitimately hurts your eyes looking at some bright blocks in a video game, just make a resource pack and fill it with alternative textures, that don't hurt. <<<< Absolutely. Just make it something that fits your idea of what they should be.

I personally love both the new blocks, and the new color palette. I gotta get used to the newly textured and very bright wool, but it's definitely an improvement to how they were before. Agreed. Unfortunately the wool messed up some builds' colors, but overall it's an improvement.
