posted a message on Counting Sheep - A Minecraft Animation

Interesting. The one problem I'm really having with this is the lighting. Lighting is very important when making an animation or film - more important than you may think. In this case, you can use lighting to make things stand out in a scene to catch the viewers' attention.

In the first shot, I'm not really seeing any variations with lights, however that is totally fine. But if you're not going to use lighting to emphasize what the viewers should be looking at, then you should adjust the camera to the focal point, because at it's current state it's very weird.

The second shot, you've used lighting to emphasize the sheep and other creatures walking across, and that's great! However, the lights are very dim and/or there is not enough lights casting on the characters, making it very unclear. Also, just because something isn't the focal point does not mean it should have no lights at all. Make sure it's possible for the viewers to see the Minecraft character there because even though he isn't the main focal point, he is still very important to what is going on. You should also adjust the camera on this one too instead of another regular wide shot. Move it somewhere so that it tells the viewer that the Minecraft character is sleeping, and that this is him counting the sheep.

Sorry, but your false tagging of 'animation' made me too disappointed to watch.

Not bad. You did a great job on the climb (try to avoid clipping through blocks though), however the run cycle at the beginning looked awkward and could use some improvements. I also recommend trying to work with the face more instead of leaving it empty.

Excellent start to your learning process! I wish you the best.

posted a message on The University of Magic! (I'd love some feedback!)

The video seems very laggy, and some of the lighting isn't very pleasing - especially with the excessive amount of glowstone/redstone lamps. The camera shots weren't too interesting either. You seemed to try too hard with the camera tilt, and didn't make use of other types of camera shots. I also recommend having a focus to shots instead of the camera always wandering. After each camera shot, you seem to always fade to black or white. You could just do a simple cut with some of the shots. The cinematic could even be shorter because I'm seeing the same stuff over and over.

Overall, it's a decent cinematic with a few things to work on and keep in mind.

posted a message on Hobbit & Skyrim Cinematics

I absolutely love the camera pan done at the beginning of your Hobbit cinematic (nice camera level and direction, & loads of details with great lighting). The rest of that video was also pretty good with nice details in the scenes. Although I think you could have limited yourself on the directional and circle pans and more close-up shots, expressing the details in the environment.

The Skyrim one however wasn't very pleasing to watch because of the lack of details in the scenes and the tremendous amount of wooden planks all over the screen. I also recommend avoiding any high FOV shooting when doing any sort of film.

Overall, great work - I believe you should continue these cinematics, and of course improving as you go!

The sound seemed way too intense for a vague flashing light, and I think it could have been presented in a more extreme and clear way. Since the video doesn't have very much going on, I also think you should have focused more on set building with small details and ambient light/effects would have made this more pleasing to watch.

What I mean is that you should add more emotion and facial expressions to the character to remove that mind control look - his face at the moment is very vacant.

posted a message on If Water And Lava Had A Baby

You've already heard about the audio three times so I'm not going to say it again. The concept of this video is very basic and weird. Water and lava having a baby... what? Wasn't very funny or clever to be honest, but keep trying.

Very interesting concept. Although it looks like he's under some sort of mind control at 1:53 after the sun rises extremely fast.

posted a message on Realistic Minecraft! What it would be like placing yourself in the game!

This video was a lot more interesting than expected. You have great enthusiasm shown and nice transitions when interacting with in-game objects. What you could have done though to make it better is darken and tint your hands to match the ambient lighting - your hands seem to be glow-in-the-dark.

Great video - I really enjoyed watching!

posted a message on Shader's Mod - Crashes Upon Launch (Even on Weakest Shader)
Water shader? You mean this one?
    http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding/minecraft-mods/1275991-1-2-5-water-shader-alpha-v5b

If so then you can only use it on 1.2.5 or lower, and isn't associated with Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders mod.

In that case; make sure your shader pack, and SEUS mod, are the same version. If you've used a shader pack by someone other than Sonic Ether, then something might be wrong with it - try Sonic Ether's pack.

Try working with Fraps on a non-modded client. If that works, slowly start adding mods one by one to see if there is a particular mod crashing it.
