To keep it short.
Around December 2017, Xol announced that it was very likely that the mod wouldn't update anymore, and also announced that he's been making 2 games of his own.
In April 2018, someone named "Scimiguy" started making their own unofficial updates in an attempt to fix the mod's problems. These "Tslat" versions fixed a bunch of stuff and were liked by the community.
Scimiguy (Scimi for short) tried contacting Xolova at the time but didn't hear anything back.
Around the same time, Scimi created an unofficial discord server for discussion around the mod and the versions he's made for it, as Scimi wanted to port the mod to 1.12 as well.
On May 23rd, one of Xolova's friends joined the server, talked to Scimi about stuff... Then Xolova himself joined the discord server.
They had a private conversation, but basically Xolova has given full permission to Scimi to continue the mod. Giving him the source code and everything.
In terms of the current state of the mod, basically every bug that used to exist in the mod has been fixed, and the Shyrelands is officially released.
Now, Scimi's current plan is to update the mod for 1.12, and after that, begin adding new content to the mod.

What is it, besides being the latest version, that 1.8 has to offer over 1.7 that makes it worth upgrading to? AFAIK the main things they did were code rewrites, mapmaking stuff, more mapmaking stuff, and some survival features here and there (they were really random, like endermites, new stone, water temples, depth strider, banners. In short they weren't very well-organized). Personally I can go without said survival features, and then there are mods that add 1.8 features to 1.7 anyways. And mapmaking and AoA don't go together.
I have no idea what Xolova is planning at all (whether a completely new secret dimension, or extra biomes, or more mobs, or just general business) but I really don't think the mod should update to 1.8, at least not now since significant amounts of people still play 1.7.
I think I'll be coughing more than you while I write this, as I've been very sick for the last while and it's been hard to work. That being said, I did get a chance to work with 1.8 for a while (1.8.9 specifically) and I don't think AoA will update to it. While I'm aware how to do a good portion of things, it'll take far too long to be worth the effort right now. Of course 1.9 is always possible, but the majority of mods will need to be on 1.9 to convince me. I can say that I'm not delaying the update for AoA to add new content, it's a problem with roadblocks in the real world. However, there is something of a very grand scale that is being kept under the water... for now.

Thaumic Tinkerer is a spiritual successor to Vazkii's Elemental Tinkerer mod, this is a mod about tinkering with thaumic creations. It's an addon to azanor;s Thaumcraft 4. The intention is to add new, and useful items you can create, using the knowledge you've acquired from the vanilla thaumcraft researches.
Researches that come from this mod are prefixed as [TT] for easy labelling.
As this is a Thaumcraft Addon, I'll try to keep spoilers minimal, so, here's some non-spoiler-y images. I'll add videos if I happen to get any. So here's a little gallery:

Down here there would be videos. But as of the 3.0 version of the mod, they're all outdated, since lots of superfluous items have been removed. Updated videos will be placed here as they come.

If you want to do anything with this mod besides playing it, you should have a look at what it says. For modpacks, refer to the license under the Thaumcraft 5 thread, since my mod depends on it. You can distribute TT in modpacks at will, but Thaumcraft is a different matter.

A: You may have. This mod makes use of either modified, or just copied versions of Thaumcraft 2 or 3 assets, the reason for this is that I can't make any sort of art at all, and I'd rather make use of fantastic unused assets than to reinvent the wheel and create my own, that would probably be sub-par.
Q: The latest version in the file index says it was compiled for an old version of thaumcraft, will it still work?
A: In theory it should work, it probably will, you should try it yourself to find out.

I am going to release some valuable information,and I want to know if everyone wants this information,and if Xolova sees this,it is about some of the secrets never revealed in the shyrelands group beta,along with some other tidbits.

Everyone is wondering whats so cool about the jungle I found.
Its a jungle for goodness sakes.
Those are cool to find even in vanilla,and I have never been able to complete an all AoA (with ObsTrophies of course) world because I could never find a jungle to get to precasia.
