Scarlet couldn't help herself but grin. This Ben guy demonstrated his power, capable of moving objects and lifting himself into the air, but his limits seemed to stop him from lifting anything that could already be held with no trouble, like a pressure cooker, or lifting himself into the air about 3 feet or so. Another power he possessed was that of fire, an ability Scarlet already has. And to what he can do, compared to Scarlet, it was laughable, which caused her to chuckle under her breath. At that moment, she felt cocky and dominant around this boy, and she had a sense to get into some trouble right about now. She approached the boy, pulling out her lighter and trying to light it up as she did. As she stopped, a good distance away from him, she held out one hand, ready to show what she could do.
"You can use fire? And that's all you can do?" Scarlet almost laughed. "Sorry bud, this mutant-team already has an insane pyro, and that's me. Or would you like to prove yourself? Come on, let's have some fun shall we?" She awaited for an answer from the boy, if he didn't accept or was too frightened, surely Scarlet would never let this go.
This is a very interesting idea, and has a lot of potential. I'd like to ask you to increase the variety in loot, such as having it with String, Leather, Buckets, or your generic Dungeon loot.
This isn't just about the passive mob's food drops, this is also about their materials. Chickens, Sheep, and Cows, and Horses are the best mobs to get hands on, because they don't only provide food, but also leather, feathers, wool, and a form of transportation, and these are items that are usually necessary in creating other items. You're not just lowering the food source, you are also lowering the amount of important items that would be needed rather early out in the game. Everything else stated has been stated.
Everyone seemed to agree on Laz's idea to head out to the diner for a quick bite to eat. But before the group head out, another newcomer introduced himself, he didn't exactly introduce himself, other than ask if one of us sent him the letter. Laz was already introducing himself to the newcomer, but Scarlet was already so keen on the idea of munching on some actual food once in her life, she only waited impatiently before the group would make their way to diner.
"Oh take your time," Scarlet muttered sarcastically.
OK! I guess since we both think that the base idea here should be totally different, it'll be kinda hard to come to an agreement. You pointed out a couple things I need to think about though! (Figured out how to quote Is there a way to tag people?)
Quoting people is enough to send them a notification that you Re:'d someone. Multiquoting doesn't really work like that but a notification still works.
Call it..."Zombie bats!"....It sounds lame, yes, BUT you could change the texture of zombie bats to have pale white noses and glowing red eyes, and it could spread by infecting normal bats by proximity. And it could be hostile to players! That way, you could help bats in the game by "cleaning" away the infected, and it would help raise awareness in the real world!!
Zombie bats sounds pretty generic. We should name it Evil Bat of Angry Sinister Stuffz
In all seriousness though, Vampire Bats feels a lot more fitting.
((In roleplays, anything is possible, like having a coincidental, vintage-looking Diner across from an abandoned lot for some odd reason.))
One by one, Scarlet memorized the names as each person introduced themselves and what they could do. One didn't necessarily share her name, but showed her power, who was capable of popping a small dagger in her hand out of thin air. Another name she caught was from a boy named Carlos. So far, that were the only people who have introduced themselves. Laz then decided to speak up, wondering if anyone else was hungry, and he looked toward the distance from the lot, and pointed toward a lit-up building with the words "Diner" in flickering neon lights. The only thing Scarlet had was that doughnut she didn't even finish, and the thought of eating almost made her stomach rumble. As a young adult, living by herself hasn't taught her much about cooking or doing the usual work you would in a house, she has mostly resulted to eating take out foods, so eating at a diner was nothing special to her. But there could be some awkward mishaps or interactions if the group even decided to go forward to it. Scarlet sighed and agreed.
"I'm in then, only if you guys are," Scarlet almost sounded a little reluctant saying this.
Nice but vague. Until you make a better crafting recipe (unbalanced, you go into the nether for one ingredient, for the other you break flowers), a model for the stairs and proper pictures,I will say no support
Not supporting a suggestion due to a lack of images (which sometimes, the OP has no knowledge to produce) or the quality of it is a rather petty excuse to not support, imo. Also, what's vague about it? And how is it in anyway unbalanced to get an item from another dimension and combine it with an overworldy item?
Well um thats kinda what I said there... "Aside from colored blocks" I mostly am saying that bats are the only Aesthetic mobs... Even squids are used to make written books and dyes.
You can list them all if you really want, but I'm not looking for a fight. The debate here is on whether its OK for bat to be a decoration or not. Not whether blocks should be pretty or not.
You technically did use the subject of blocks and items about how a majority of them have uses, and I rebutted on that saying that there were more blocks that don't necessarily have a use, other than aesthetic. I also believe we have already covered about the Bat, they're not necessarily supposed to have a use in the first place, they were implemented without one. Though that doesn't really mean you shouldn't make a suggestion about them, as it could end up with some potential.
Its not supposed to PROVE, anything, its supposed to show why I personally feel like Minecraft sorta has a theme of mobs being either useful or not there.
It was rather confusing to understand, especially when you listed on about how Minecraft doesn't have swimming fish or birds flying.
I'm sorry if I offended you with my opinion. :/ And suggestions are a big part of how things change in games. Mojang could think of it all on their own if they want... but they would probably miss a lot of things.
I really think that's a debate saved for another day.
Well yeah I mentioned that. They would mostly be used for the potion, either on yourself to get up high, or on mobs to get them out of your way.
And I feel like if It doesn't have any sort of drop, that makes it less than useless and more than annoying. They CAN kill you, if you aren't paying attention. Wolves have a use if you tame them. No, they don't give drops, but I'm not suggesting that we tame bats. Zombies give kinda the most useless thing of the Hostile mobs, but they provide the brute, basic, group force that works really well in these games. Plus, their rotten flesh can be used as food in an emergency, or you heal your dogs without wasting your food.
I seemed to have used that example in the wrong way, my fault. But along the lines of it being 'annoying' spares it for being rather rare, and how much damage it can do. On another note, I would agree that it would also be rather annoying to a degree.
Yeah I was debating between a full heart of attack or half a heart. I just figured they shouldn't have to hit you twenty times, (with no armor) to kill you.
Thanks for all your points! I seriously have no idea if we just make this post bigger and bigger or if there is a better way to talk about it.
Has a lot more possibility now, and I like the idea that it can be used to make more kinds of crystalline items than just Amethyst. But it feels kind of off to have it be created with dye. I will leave it at there though, because I've already had to change my response 3 times, this being the 4th.
I guess that was the reason they were implemented in the first place. But right now, it seems to me that most blocks and items and all mobs have some sort of a use (aside from colored blocks.. those ARE for looks :D) And what about a majority of Aesthetic blocks? Bricks, Cobble, Andesite, Diorite, Granite, Sandstone, would you like me to keep listing?
Minecraft just feels like a game to me where most things should have a use. We don't have fish swimming in the waters, or birds flying around, because they haven't made them have a use. ??? What is this supposed to prove?
Mostly for the mobs, I think they should either add more atmospheric mobs, or make bats have a little more of a use. Right now they feel like the exception to the rule. Sounds more like YOU feel like they make an exception to the rule. If they were implemented with no use, surely they would have earned one eventually.
I get what you mean though.
"I only suggest to remove the drops and lower the spawnage of it"
I suppose I could lower the spawnage rates... I don't know how often bats actually encounter Witches though.. I thought it was fairly rare.
I'll keep them the way they are until I get a couple more people talk about the spawn rates. I wanted them to be something that happens occasionally, and not something you have to search for. Fair enough.
"I do not believe they should drop potions of any kind,"
Well they don't drop potions they drop Bat Wings which can be used to brew a potion... and a couple other things. I must have listed that wrong. Aside from that, Elytra can already be repaired using Leather or another Elytra item. And having this, rarer than common, seems a little too much, especially when Elytra provides quite of a big new gameplay mechanic.
And I feel like if It doesn't have any sort of drop, that makes it less than useless and more than annoying. They CAN kill you, if you aren't paying attention.
Rabbits aren't useless because they drop food and leather, and a potion ingredient. If they didn't drop anything, they would be atmospheric, and if they attacked you they would be annoying. :/ Yet there are also Hostile mobs? Wolves don't drop anything and if you happen to tick one off you'll waste your advantage getting one as well. While true they could be more annoying, regardless of rarity, it doesn't really feel necessary to provide it a drop.
Oh and I did list stats :/
(I'm still new and I don't know how to quote yet)
"Stats:
The Vampire bat has 8 health, or four hearts, meaning it takes two hits from all swords to kill, except diamond, which can kill it in one hit. (and stone axes, in the 1.9 upcoming update.)
It does one heart of damage.
It regains a half a heart of life for every successful attack." For a mob with the smallest model, it's bound to be succesful for every attack, it's already troublesome enough to try and kill them while they flutter in your face. The low health makes it a big con, but it's small size and flight gives it a good advantage.
Bats are atmospheric mobs, there not supposed to have any particular use other than provide atmosphere in caves and in the night. Nonetheless, the idea seems quite interesting, but this Vampire Bat seems to spawn quite common, as Witches have had their spawnage increased, making them as much more common as Endermen or so. I do not believe they should drop potions of any kind, as again, they are atmospheric mobs and should stay that way. I only suggest to remove the drops and lower the spawnage of it. Also, please list stats (How much damage does it do etc.)
The block is now a decoration used to signify that both the boss mobs have been killed.
Honestly, you just made it worse. By adding an item that was supposedly removed, and having it sacrifice a Nether Star is just as bad as well. You seemed to misinterpret me when I said having it as a decorational block, because now this is just a "trophy" item that sacrifices another "trophy" item for this block with no particular use. Let it just be smelted by any other fuel source, and keep it as simple as Quartz block.
In fact, you could as well suggest it in Slab or Stair form to add to it that as well.

But with so much salt in this thread, you would just be left with salt water.
