Have the requirements to play (Windows 10 Bedrock, 2070 Super) but launched the game and see none of the menus mentioned. Look into it further and find I have to download another app(xbox insider?), sign up, blah blah blah. Pass.

I keep hoping they'll fix the terrain generation. The "buffet" option should allow you choose multiple biomes so you can have a taiga/jungle world or a desert/plains/roofed forest world....
Oh and even the buffet option is f'd up...I just created a custom buffet "Plains" world and there were mobs everywhere...burning up in the middle of the day....just like PhatCorsair said.

As others have mentioned the world gen/tree gen needs work. Random stumps that go 3 blocks into the ground, yet a live tree doesn't. Found a birch tree with oak wood as the bottom block. First village I ran into had a huge swath cut right through one of the gardens so that only one chopped off row of wheat was on each side. I'll check back with the next snapshot, but unable to even make a crafting table kinda puts a damper on trying out a new world.

Not only that, there's a spider spawner right next to it!! Double spawner fun. Just started this seed tonight and it's really nice. Chopped some trees, tunneled into the hillside and started digging down with the two-block method. As I was going down, I saw the spawners on my Xaeros minimap so I tunneled over there and heard spiders and skellies. Dug down to 11 and mined a little bit and got up to 30 or so iron. Was able to make a suit, sword and headed back to the spawners as by this time I was starting to show hunger. Took some doing but was able to kill about 6 spiders and 4 skellies. Got some string, an almost-dead bow and 4 arrows, and 7 bones. Made my way back to the surface and caught 3 fish with a fishing pole I made from the string. So I have a mine started, a food source and a safe little habitat. Going to replant some trees and try to scratch out a couple seed and use the bonemeal on them tomorrow.
Great find for a seed OP!!

About the only huge trees I can think of are Biomes O Plenty Sacred Oaks. I'm pretty sure they're available for 1.7.10...

Well, it wasn't happening on another browser...because I wasn't logged in.
Went through my settings to see if there was a setting in there that I was missing, and for some damn reason I had a valued friend on "ignore" so I couldn't see her posts. You really need to set that up so it's not so easy to inadvertently do that, because apparently I must have mishit a button a long time ago.

Whenever I go to a thread in the PC Servers section for a server I play on, the #1 post always flashes then disappears. Basically keeps starting me at the #2 post....There's updated information that I'd like to read but for the life of me, I can't get the first post to stay visible. Apparently I'm stupid and no one else has this problem. Any ideas?

Yep, you can do those things in Xaero's also. I used to use REI's minimap which was cool because you could set your waypoint color to any RGB mix but that's not updated anymore. Xaero's is updated through 1.12

Xaero's minimap is another one. Just make a waypoint where you're currently standing, name it what your target destination is like "Villager w/Mending" and then just go into edit and change the coordinates of the waypoint to wherever you want to go or whatever your target is. Will take you all of 10 seconds probably. That waypoint will show up on the minimap and you can easily tell what direction you want to go. You can also set the minimap to show chunks, show players, show friendly mobs, show hostile mobs, etc. Plus there's a handy teleport button...once you have a waypoint, just highlight it and click the teleport button....poof!

Thank you for the explanations! I appreciate your time!
Doesn't sound like there's much available to the OP besides monitoring the logs and spectating if he's staying vanilla.

Sorry to threadjack... Care to expand on this? Or point me in the direction of a thread or article that I can read?
The couple of servers I've been on that ran bukkit had an amazing amount of redstone machinery and mob farms and I never heard any mentions of issues or not being able to do something.
*Edit: just did a quick search and all I found were older articles (2+ years) about Spigot affecting hopper mechanics but that it could be set just like Vanilla using "hopper-alt-ticking". Again, all these articles were old...nothing newer. So does it still hold true that Bukkit would cause redstone/mob issues or is that outdated information?
It's too bad because Coreprotect would have been a simple solution to the OP's problem. Might not help with crimes already committed, but future shenanigans could be avoided.

Takes a while to do, but we just mined a crapload of netherack, smelted it into nether bricks, and then found one of those outside areas of the nether fortress that's completely above ground (most likely most of it above lava) where there's 4 walkways that form a square and proceeded to fill it in with netherbrick. Gave the skellies tons of netherbrick area to spawn on and since you can run around it easily, it's easier to dodge blazes and ghast fireballs. Drink a speed potion, a strength potion and grab your Looting III sword and have at it!

You should probably consider running Bukkit on your server and then installing coreprotect which gives you the ability to log all players actions in a certain radius or time. Got a block missing? Find out how it was removed whether it's player, enderman, fire, etc. Got a villager missing? Find out if it was killed. On one of the servers I was on, a creeper exploded near one of my good horse pens and killed 4 horses. I was able to rollback the last 2 minutes of the area and get my horses back. Very handy for intended or unintended griefing.
You can tell who added blocks, removed blocks, planted trees, chopped trees or just track what an individual player did for their last 5 minutes, 5 hours, 5 days, etc. Enough logging to make your head spin. And the people joining don't need anything special beside their Vanilla minecraft to join.

Yeah, I use Sphax all the time and that's a Sphax zombie effect...headless ones. Also with the newer Sphax packs, you can get "Creature from the Black Lagoon" looking zombies in the swamps and Lumberjack looking zombies in the woods (noticed them in the Taiga). Makes it fun and more interesting that's for sure!

My friend Sam and I have built multiple pyramids on various servers. Our biggest was probably 110 per side built out of sandstone. We were building a Egyptian city at the time and had like 5 pyramids of various sizes planned. I think we eventually built 3 of them and then lost that server. I might still have some screenshots. The nice thing about a pyramid is you can use the whole top as the base for a beacon similar to what Mr. Derman did. That makes fighting the mobs inside a whole lot easier and more fun if you put strength and/or speed and regen on. We used them basically as XP rooms...going in there when we wanted XP for any reason...
Also, it's a blast to ride horses up and down the bigger pyramids! One fun variation is also to put a red beacon on top and every corner of the rows, use netherack and light it up. Looks really really cool at nighttime. Only bad thing is if you do that variation, it's not as fun to ride the horses up and down then...lol

Just keep looking m8. My last server I found 2 horses that could cover a 700 block racing path in under 51 seconds which works out to about 13.7 roughly. The server had the stables plugin so while you couldn't find speed, you could tell a horses jump strength and found one that was .993 and another that was .960. My best overall horse did the testing track in 50.9 seconds and had a .876 jump with 24 health. Of course this is after taming a few thousand horses, but that's what it takes to find those few horses that make it all worth it.
And you're correct...everyone that I gave a horse to, I made sure their stables had no solid blocks at the 2nd block level...fences, glass, bushes are all good, but anything solid and you risk losing a great horse for good. Holes in the ground...fine if you don't care if you lose the horse.

Either it's my imagination but when my horses/donkeys start to walk away, I find they generally walk towards whatever direction they originally came from. Like they remember home or something and want to go back...

As far as slime chunks...I usually run into them while I'm mining. Just build a larger main shaft...at least 3x3...mine are usually that or 4x4 and do your mining. Pop down every once in awhile even if you're not mining and check the shaft. I usually run into a medium or little guy bopping around and there's your slime chunk. It's not very scientific, but it's useful without spending a ton of time excavating for no reason.
As far as swamps...I usually just go to the middle of the swamp and build a noob tower in shallow water...go up about 15 blocks or so, so that you're out of the range of any skellies. If you want to use it multiple times, just throw some ladders on the side and a trapdoor. Build a little lit platform at the top and hang out and shoot creeps.... You should have a good view of a large area of swamp. Sooner or later you'll see a slime hopping around and you can jump off your tower, land in the water and go kill the slime. Even if you don't see any, you can run around the next morning and collect the XP from all the other little buggers you shot.
