posted a message on [1.6.4]TerraFirmaCraft - Survival mode as it should've been.

So, got started with the mod a short while ago. So far I've been living mostly on seaweed. I live on an island (may actually be an small archipielago since I can walk to another island) so not many mobs nearby. The other island does have a few pigs, one of which I killed out of curiosity to see if the drops were different. What worries me is running out of wild animals, because in that case I'd be utterly screwed as there doesn't seem to be any wild crops. For how long can I rely on seaweed as my main food source?

Well , unless you are lucky of course. Hardcore buckets makes that kind of thing harder and I don't think pumps are viable while you struggle to find food.

I have pumpkin and chicken farms so I don't have that problem , but I still wonder how in Earth you guys make water-less mushroom farms.

Short story , discontinued. If you want to know why you could look somewhere in the respective threads in both MCF and the BTW forum.

Soo , either a gem or a ingot because any other kind of material would be meaningless?

Yes it makes sense for most minecraft players , but mass appeal is not necessary on this. If you are going to say that using something different would be confusing, well , we are in minecraft , one of the most community-dependant serious games , because you can't expect a player to instantly figure out how to make everything. It is either using the wiki or missing many features just because you don't know they even exist. The crafting system can not be very intuitive at times.

If you knew how to do everything just playing with a crafting table and doing random stuff , (like trying to saddle a pig or throwing ender eyes so you can find a new dimension) congratz , you are a wizard. It can't really be much worse than it already is and it's not a reason to limit someone creativity with stuff like "your raw materials can't be other than gems and ingots".

posted a message on Obsidian Tool Solution?
I am not referring to this , although it could get a little more polished. I was saying that you can't just use a game's condition as unrealistic to justify anything , which is basically what you said here:

    Quote from funky3000

No. Get out. Minecraft is not the real world. Go. Minecraft never was nor will be realistic.

Also , don't limit yourself to either a gem or a ingot. You can make something different then that , just because it is not yet in the game does not mean it can not be there. This is a suggestion anyways.

Uh. Obsidian ingots? Why it had to be specifically obsidian? Why is it needed? Why is it interesting?

Besides I understand that wither skeletons may need some kind of reward or something but not like this.

Also , yes this is a video game and it isn't realistic. But that can't justify being unimaginative or adding whatever for the sake of it. By that logic it would make perfect sense to add anything to any video game , and I'm pretty sure that is bad design.

posted a message on How to hide your chest in any multiplayer server.
The most obvious solution is a enderchest , but a bit hard to get if you are new on a server. Another effective way to store items (i saw this on a video lol) is hiding dispensers in a lava lake and connecting it to your base , later you could play with piston doors to hide the entrance :P .

As for normal chests i don't know for sure , maybe making a tower (an actual tower , not just a bunch of blocks in a row) with obsidian and then covering it with stone? I never really had this problem to be honest.

Or cover it with a painting.

Although i know this isn't based on FMA , i can't help but laugh at the people who say that it isn't even like it. Or the ones that really think actual alchemy was like this.

And , for everyone saying "Tiz SuCczz bcuse u toook OP stuff!!!!!!!!!!1one!!!!" , EE actually pretty OP and made mining a trivial task. I know that some people liked it because it gave you acess to godlike powers , but at least wait until a full release and give it a chance before you start raging.

    1. Could you upload that first pic somewhere else? I can't seem to access your hard-drive.
    2. Actually, please use the search function. I've already suggested something very close to this.

Yep , i have already seen your thread. I think it's a good idea , but it is very different to this one. You are suggesting other furnaces with different functions , alloys etc. I'm suggesting making the current furnace less effective , starting from something almost useless and making you unable to access ores right when you start the world.

    Quote from Badprenup

This doesn't really make the game any harder imo, at least not the first part. For example, look at your Fire Pit and new Furnace compared to the old one.

    Current Furnace:
    8 Cobblestone

    Fire Pit:
    4 Cobblestone
    4 Sticks

    New Furnace:
    1 Fire Pit
    6 Cobblestone
    1 Cobblestone Slab

When you get the total cost for the new furnace it comes out to:
1 Cobblestone Slab (Intrinsic Cost: 3 Cobblestone)
1 Fire Pit (Intrinsic Cost: 4 Cobblestone, 4 Sticks)
    6 Cobblestone

That adds up to 13 Cobblestone and 4 Sticks (Otherwise known as 2 Planks or half of 1 Log). That, combined with needing 3 additional Cobblestone to make a Stone Pickaxe, means you have brought the number of uses of the Wooden Pickaxe from 11 to 16. And then it is immediately thrown away, same as ever. It didn't make the first Furnace harder to get, it just made it take 5 seconds longer to get and made it a pain to get. Not to mention the fact that you are wasting a Block ID on the Fire Pit and makes it even more confusing for new players.

For the actual Vanilla Furnace you now need a Portable Firepit and a crap ton of Iron, not like Iron is hard to get, so this is another matter of annoyance rather than challenge.

In summation, you waste 3 Block IDs and minor amounts of time, all to make what is designed to be a simple game aspect into something complicated that would throw off all current players and leave new ones in the dark entirely.

Fair enough , i agree partially. But well , it is really easy to call work "annoyance". I think annoyance is a dirrerent thing. If you needed to recollect say , 8 stacks of dirt and then craft each one of them into a different block to get something , i would call that annoyance.

I don't like when people say that something is "annoying" , "pointless" or "painful" just because they can't get it right when they want it. But yes , changing furnace mechanics is a major thing and i admit that this wasn't too great. Still , it would be nice to have to use something other than 8 cobblestone for a important block. Ever heard of sense of accomplishment?

Hmm. Well , you can't get a enchantment table without obsidian , ergo , you could not get a enchantment table without a iron furnace if this gets added.

And i think it fits fairly well , but maybe that's because i made this up. I'm waiting for criticism and see if it haves any chance of being added. That's why i posted it here instead of learning to code and making a mod for it. :P

posted a message on Do people still play single-player?
I don't play on servers unless a friend is the admin. Last time i entered a random server , i became a op and then another OP gave some noobs diamond tools and TNT , then he said that i was the one who gave them the stuff when they destroyed the administrator's house.

Also , i live in mexico , and you can't get a good conection without paying stellar prices. So crowded servers are always laggy for me.

Cool idea but I don't really see the need for it.

The point is making it so that you can't get ores too early and make the entire MC tech tree on a few days. Also , the fire pits would be useful for camps and stuff after you get a furnace , and they really yield the sense of survival. Not just crafting a pick , using it 12 times (for a furnace and a stone pickaxe) and then dumping it because stone tools are so easy to get and so much better.
