I just learned how to edit textures, and it seems pretty easy, but I'm having trouble getting rid of the crosshair completely. Every time I edit the .png, everything that's supposed to be translucent turns black. I'm not artistically inclined at all, so my knowledge of MS Paint is limited (I know, I'm a nubcake), so can anyone tell me how I can remove the crosshair without screwing up the rest of the textures?
Use fenceposts for legs, use half steps for the table part, plave wooden pressure plates on top of the half steps, and cover the half steps in a border of signs. Viola! your very own 'wooden' table!
That would be a great idea, but wooden pressure plates can't be places on steps.
I want to put a dining room table in my fortress that I'm building but I don't know how I should go about it. I've looked through a few topics and all of the ones I've seen pictures of are just single layers of planks on the floor and they don't look very table-like. I also don't like the idea of putting 's on top of 's, but unless anyone else has a better idea, that's probably what I'll end up doing.
I still haven't quite figured out how to extend trees. Do I just put a dirt block on the top of a tree and plant a sapling and wait patiently? Because I have a problem with the "wait patiently" part of that plan.
Yeah.
You should put some torches on the sides of the dirt blocks to make them grow faster.
When they're done growing, take the torches, pillar to the top of THOSE trees, and repeat.
Ah, completely forgot about growing trees by torchlight.

quick question. why do some people have leaf textures that are semi transparent, and others have leafs that are not at all?
anyway, nice job. would be even awesomer if it had a purpose :wink.gif:
You can see through the leaves partially on Fancy graphics settings.

I figured mobile light sources had been discussed, but this is my idea for them. Also, I read your guide (really well made, by the way) but I must have missed the section about mobile light.
Everyone seems to be on the fence about lanterns being made from iron. I have an idea that will end the argument if it is ever implemented. Notch could make them carryable so we have a mobile light source. But they have to be held to emit light, to give you a reason to set one down so that you can fight or mine.

Also, does anyone know where I can get the textures for the realistic sun and moon?

Constructive criticism on my crappy narration? Save file requests (doubtful)?
EDIT: Turns out the YouTube button on the post creation thing doesn't work at all.
DOUBLE EDIT: Huh, embedding videos doesn't work either. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Quoted.
On-topic: I would like a way to explore underwater, but a submarine that shoots rockets or bullets doesn't fit with the Minecraft universe.

Edit: After searching through other topics I discovered that it's not gui.png, but icons.png. I know have no crosshair. :happy.gif:;;

I didn't know that you could walk through lit TNT, so I lit the center TNT block while standing on it. I felt like an idiot.

They're only dangerous if you have hard candy.
Also, OP, I'm stealing your costume idea. =D
