You know, that is exactly the reason you need to provide sources. If you're discussing with someone, wanting to prove them wrong but lacking in sources to actually back up your statements, you're not gonna prove that person wrong because all you're saying might very well be speculation and gibberish from your side. And no, that person is not gonna be wanting to find those sources by himself.

WHERE is the link to his tweet? I am really, really surprised that a discussion has gotten this far without anyone claiming actual SOURCES. Yeah, they did swear a lot during that interview, we know that, but where is the link to the tweet where Notch says he's pissed off at them? For all I know you could all be speculating, 'cause I don't follow his twitter much.

Duuude. The only reason you would be asking us to google stuff for you would be if google was blocked on your computer, which obviously isn't the case. Go google it yourself, you lazy human being. If you don't get any results, how do you propose we are going to get any?

    Alpha reporting in!
Started playing about two months before the game went into beta. Looking away from the fact that performance has gone down the drain since alpha, the game has only been heading in the right direction IMO.

red_royal: I've never heard anything about ScotTools in relation to the Aether mod. I've never downloaded it, but I suppose it could be included in the Aether mod itself?

Zoonerd: Thanks. I'll have a look and see what I can do.

Also, looking at the ScotTools mod, would it be possible to install that mod and change the settings for Obsidian and Redstone back to normal, or does it only work the other way around? :huh.gif:

Right, so I recently installed the Aether Mod, OptiFog + Optimine 1.7.3_HD_E_MT and wurstknifte's Bookmod, along with ModLoader and those API things required to run the mods.

Just a few minutes ago, I was preparing for a bit of tedious Obsidian mining, and once I got down there I noticed that mining it took no less than 3 seconds, as opposed to the normal 15. I also noticed that mining Redstone is way faster as well.

No matter how practical it is, I don't like it, and I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what mod is causing it, so that I can change the settings on it back to normal?

A full list of the mods I have installed:
    ModLoader
    AudioMod
    ShockAhPI
    Aether
    wurstkniftes Bookmod
    OptiFog + Optimine 1.7.3_HD_E_MT
    HD Texture Fix

    Thanks in advance!

Painterly Pack and the Aether mod. I don't really consider any of them mods because the Aether is SO well made, and texture packs are.. well, texture packs. :tongue.gif:

Browsed a few pages back, didn't find a solution.

There seems to be a problem with textures that are 64x and up. 32x works fine, but whenever I try anything above that I only get a black screen. Not even getting an error message, just a pitch black screen.

    Quote from Quxudia

I don't really think much will change per se when release comes, its more a mile stone then anything at this point. I just think the lackluster development MC has seen from the team is unfortunate, it bothers me that such a novel and terrific game is saddled with devs that don't seem to have much passion for it and the "release" date getting pushed back just rather reinforces this.

I think the Modders are really the unsung heros of Minecraft. Notch gets a lot of acclaim for creating MC (as he should). But if the modders weren't here adding new and interesting content every week, I doubt the game would be as big as it is. Vanilla just doesn't have as much going for it as it should at this stage of development.

I can see why you feel that way. I believe the real problem the developers face lies more in laziness than a lack of passion. With the game reaching this level of popularity, they could definitely do with a bigger group of developers.

I don't use any mods except for a texture pack, but the modders are definitely doing a fantastic job at keeping the game interesting for more content-hungry players. They deserve all the praise they can get and more. Same goes for the people who create custom maps and actually make a proper game out of what really is just a sandbox with creatures added to it.

Instead of being rushed out and not patched properly, you prefer it being developed at a snails pace while still not being patched properly nor given adequate content updates? I love Minecraft, but this perpetual Beta doesn't really improve much of anything when development is so scatter shot.

I'm sorry if I gave off the wrong impression here. Of course I would appreciate it if updates were more frequent, but honestly, it doesn't bug me all that much, and I don't get why it would bug others either. Yes, updates have become less frequent after the transition from alpha to beta, and that's sad, but we have (IMO) more than enough content to keep us busy for a good while, and we also have a wonderful modding community if need be.
Like I said, I don't see the reason why any aspect of this game should be rushed out and finished.

IIRC, Notch has even said that he wants to focus mostly on content during the beta and do more of the bugfixing when the full version is out, and that is why I don't have any obligations against all the bugs that have been in the game for a good while and not yet been fixed.

Oh, please. Can't you guys just enjoy the game and appreciate the relaxed pace at which the game is developed? Compared to other, bigger companies who rush their titles and release unfinished, bug-riddled games that never get patched properly, I much prefer this.

In their past videos, and in the Shadow of Israphel series, he does indeed use a modified version of Gerudoku's texture pack. In their new challenge map videos however, like "the tree of life", he's using JohnSmith's 32x32 pack.

I, too, write my own seeds, and then I name my world the same thing as the seed. It's mainly because if I ever need the seed I won't have to go to that horrible website to get my seed out of the .dat file or whatever it is.
    I'm lazy.

I do agree with the above poster, some translucency to the water would be a nice addition. I don't know if that would conflict with the general 'cartoony' idea of this pack, though.

Also, you should go with the tektite, if you can make it look a bit more dangerous. It looks a bit bit too passive in the pic you posted, IMO. :Pig:

THIS IS AMAZING. Even though I get an eye strain from using these cartoony texture packs over longer periods of time, I'll definitely be using this one.
