    So when I first played, this wasn't an issue as my PC wasn't great. Now that I've upgraded, though, I need to start allocating more ram. According to F3, it's allocating 500mb of memory, and i'm hitting that 100% all the time, and it's making it lag horribly.

    I tried a bunch of the Google guides, but most are at least 2 years dated and no one seems to agree on what works. None worked for me. When I edit the profile and the JVM Arguments, I get an error message after saving and hitting play (Could not create Java virtual machine). When I try creating a shortcut, I can't find the file directory (I'm assuming it's not in %appdata%, as that didn't work.)

    What is the most current way to? I have 16 gigs of Ram, half a gig isn't cutting it.

    I edited my post about the same time you posted, so I'm not sure you saw, but I tried this and there's just stone and dirt in the spot it led me to.

    I had thrown one, but it disappeared. I figured they only lead to the stronghold area, meaning I was just wasting my eyes. It went through a wall and was never to be seen again.

    Edit: So I threw a few. Eventually every throw led me to the same spot. Dug from surface to bedrock, no room.

    So I've been running around the same stronghold lighting it up, listening for stuff, trying to find this portal... for like 4 hours. A majority of that having been spent trying to find area I haven't explored yet.



    Is there any tips to help find the portal? It's always at a certain level, like diamond, or it's beside a library or something? Do not all strongholds have portals?

    I am looking for a way to keep mobs (cows, chickens, villagers) in one spot, spinning in a circle. I've seen cows do it on fence posts, I am just struggling to reproduce that. Is there any way to achieve this?

    posted a message on Looking For Survival Vanilla (or close) Server
    I am browsing the list of them semi-frequently, reading what people have had to say, but I am making a thread to hopefully ease the process.

    I am looking to start a(nother) LP. Closing in on 600 subs, been doing this for a year. I've never done server stuff though, and that's where I'd like to go from here. Among many things, i'd just like a simple server with fun people to talk to. Creative buildings are a plus, but I'm really just after a fun group to play with on a standardized vanilla server.

    What i'm looking for in a server:

    - Fun, mature group. Age isn't an issue, but I'd like the chat conversation to be fun. Maybe a group who enjoys events together. Interaction.
    - Vanilla or at least French Vanilla. Vanilla-adjacent. However you'd like to put it. I specifically don't care for mini-maps or new ores/items. I wouldn't mind locking chests or anti-cheats or small stuff. I also wouldn't mind new AI, like shops or casinos.
    - I'd strongly prefer if the server was kept up-to-date with the snapshots.
    - Whitelisted.
    - Active Admins.
    - Not PVP-oriented.

    Your sales pitch or a link to your thread is appreciated. I'd like to invest time into one server, not bounce around on servers trying to find a match.

    posted a message on Creating floor lighting w/ lamps
    I am looking to make a hallway with a series of spread out lamps to act as lighting. This will all be controlled by a lever at the front. I just don't know how to make it so the lever controls them.

    I can get it to where I have a redstone torch under the light and hitting the switch makes it flicker, but I can't get an on/off going.

    How would I go about doing that?

    I couldn't see any better place to put this... Mods has it's own subforum for requests. Anyways

    I want to request someone make a texture pack that is vanilla to a tee, but instead of leaf blocks, there is barb wire. One of them can be like barb wire going straight, one can be barb wire for corners, and I guess the last can just be regular old oak leaves. Not sure what need there would be for a 3rd.

    I'd ask for just the texture, but I don't know how to add it or change it or whatever that'd take. It'd be great if someone could help.

    posted a message on Fraps losing gameplay and recording 0 bytes
    So on my last two occasions using fraps, i've had an odd glitch. The first time, it lost what appears to be a chunk from the beginning of my recording session while playing Minecraft. It lost... idk, the first 10 minutes? Buy right off the top, literally when I started. In it's place, it put a video that was 0 bytes. Then on my second experience, I saw the dreaded 0 byte file again, this time in the middle, and once again, a 10 minute chunk is missing. Now, i'm just guessing at the time loss, but it's unpredictable and new to me. All google seems to show me is torrents and youtube tutorials and weird stuff, so I hope one of you is familiar enough with fraps. it sucks losing a chunk of a let's play :/

    The reason TMI picks up on 2 entries for pc and healer is that there are 2. The pc and the healer are both TileEntities which gives them 1 entry each but they are also items, which are used to control placing them. When you use the recipe to make them (and the diamond one is correct for the pc) it gives you the pc/healer item which then you use to place the block.

    Scaling will come once we have town spawning in (or maybe sooner if we go with another idea that was posted on our forums)


    Fair enough. Do you happen to know what the recipe is? Because the wiki only says ingredients, not how to place them.

    So I've now played a few hours.

    1) On the wiki, the crafting recipe for a PC says diamonds and such, but shows a single piece of dirt. The single piece of dirt doesn't work, and so yeah, not sure of the recipe.
    2) I collected signs off my wall (this is from an old world) and it didn't give me any signs. Whatever, so I used TMI to put some more in my inventory. When I placed them, they let me type, but then became stone blocks. And when I have no stone blocks on me, it just disappears and acts like it was never placed.
    3) In TMI, I can see there is a PC listed at item #10269, and it has an image and seems to be functional. But a few pages back, at item #205, there is one just called "PC" and it's picture is the end portal picture. It can still be placed and looks like a PC, but both are listed for whatever reason. "Healer" is the same way. Has one picture, one of the end portal.

    Other than these 3, not too many bugs I can see. It performs really well. The spawning is nice (and nice that I can change it), the battle system works awesome. I wish that pokemon levels scaled as your pokemon did, but I haven't checked out the config, so maybe it's in there. Really, it's an awesome mod. One of the best this site has. I'll start working on a showcase, as I think the more people I can show this to the better.

    Ah yes, there we go. I'm used to mods going into the jar, but this goes into the .minecraft. Well, works now. Thanks :) Off to try and get a screenshot!
